I am gonna be a PAPA!
I am told that various communities in different parts of the globe have their own distinct ways of announcing the arrival of a new born.
Can you people share the different 'statements' or 'phrases' used in your native lands?
To get this rolling, in Pakistan / India these are common-
a) A tiny little guest is expected in our house
b) You are going to be an uncle/aunty/ granny/grandpa (depending on who is being addressed)...
Any more?
Also created a new group for Papa's-to-be...
Y bring up this subject after a year ??? :P r u expecting to be a papa too??
IF EVERYONE WAS TO TAKE AN EYE FOR AN EYE, THE WHOLE WORLD WOULD'VE BEEN BLIND TODAY - MAHATMA GANDHI
god sent you after buddy? a girl or a boy? Children are a bless and a great gift from god that a lot are missing.
Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment. (Gautama Buddha)
Thanks for all the wishes...
a) I do not know the gender of the baby yet. Am keeping it as a surprise till the end;-)
b) Mom /dad and baby all doing fine.
c) The objective of this post was not met :-( .I wanted to know the various ways of breaking this news to near and dear ones.
I got a few more in other groups where I am a member-
* The Stork came visiting...
* God has sent us a gift...
* Our family is going to be bigger!
so...
Ciao
congrats ... :-)
Congratulations on a new chapter of your life. I know the feeling. Can't express it. Now you will have a very different perspective of your life.
As for the traditions:
1. Give out a cigar if it's a boy. I don't know what to give out if it's a girl - a flower - I guess.
2. Buy things that are blue if a boy, pink if girl. (blankets, shoes, pillow cases, etc.)
...I have a court order to get a DNA sample from you...
congratulations! you will be a daddy (dada, father)...
Best wishes....
double post...

Hope your wife is ok also.
It really is true that they are not little for long.
Make sure you take time to love them and be with them.
Also, seek out and listen to advice on how to raise them.
I was way too strict with my first and I have since appologised to my daughter for it.
Love your babies.
It really really matters.
When we announced it to my parents, we addressed them as grandma and grandpa...they were thrilled.
Take it from a new Dad, cherish this time, and get as much sleep as you can lol.
They are so worth it, but it's not a cliche, sleep will become scarcer...its a fact...so just be prepared.
Be safe all.
Perfection does not exist. The question therefore, is: what level of imperfection are we willing to settle for?
Same in my country. the 2nd one- especially if you want your parents to get a heart attack ;)
If you're looking for a problem, you're probably gonna find one.
