DO you think that living cost in Qatar between 2010 & 2022 would be the same or more expensive
and how the Market is going to be ?

Don't worry about WC 2022, if they win it. Thousands of new projects will come and thousands of residential buildings will also built. No problem, where there are people living, they will get a home to live.

@Avatar, Soniya don't want to leave permanently, she just want to go on vacation and get more members of her family.

The expansion plans the kind of construction going on it is for sure that they will get it by all means...By hook or by crook.I mean it.If they can organize Asiad games with so many players and so many countires. They can manage world cup too. They can do wonders. They a have a graceful well educated couple leading the country in the most progressive manner. They have upcoming royal generation with high educational degrees and their eyes are set on stars in the skies.Money no problem too.Who is going to stop them? They will get it organize it and will get praises for it too..Trust me and dont worry..They are going to DO IT..

Qatar is a small place and doha is the only single city to host all the matches.

qatar has 2million population even then we some time face the traffic probelm then just think of if qatar gets the 2022 cup to host then many people will move to qatar to set up there business before the 2022 cup and many tourist will visit to qatar last time in SoutAfraica 3 million people visited to S.A then just imagine what will happen if qatar host and that 3 million tourist visits to qatar.just think of if qatar population gets 3times more to the current population then there will be lots of problem will be faced like traffic, housing, shoping, etc etc...

I think the only reason for rejecting to Qatar. But i love to get the chance to Qatar to host this 2022 cup.

I love u Qatar.

Ima big fan of yours, so would I get car polishing (detailing) along with car wash? :-P

Yeah the unfortunate thing about winning the world cup bid would be the inflation in the standard of living in Doha. Rents will sky rocket and most of the landlords/ middlemen would not give a damn about if you can afford it or not, as long as their pockets are being filled... :-(

I hope there is a ceiling on the increase in house rents, depending on the current structure.

No my dear it’s not the same

Coz no body will come and tell u we will increase ur basic salary

U know what the companies are going to do

They will tell u ok we will increase your accommodation allowance only without any increment on the basic salary

And in such a way u can’t tell them no and u can’t ask for basic salary increment

I was shocked to see families sharing accommodation here... I think its unique to GCC.

By soniya• 1 Nov 2010 11:21

Oh damn!! i don't want any further rise in the rents..we've suffered a lot in the past during ASIAN games..It really sucked our blood that time..sigh!!

Naah rizk, of course not..

And i don't even care about it if this country would remain un-affected with the plight of some deserving and qualified people..

This won't be a problem folks... as Qatar won't win the bid. So chillax, the rents will keep dropping!!!

Avatar, 'departure lounge is always open'... how original, but very expected coming from you. Please come up with something that hasn't been said a million times as you can see, we really do as told - NOT!

I would be the first to leave QATAR then if the cost of living would shoot up after 2010 and before 2022..

Is it growing. Seems to me the Pearl is sitting pretty empty, not to mention all the empty compounds and villas that sit there for months (in some cases years) on end. And with no new LNG Projects scheduled, there will be nothing bringing people in.

By black_wolf• 1 Nov 2010 11:03

believe me if the cost of living would be so high a lot of people will leave the country

they should control the prices and to consider that not all the people are getting the same benefits

even though there will be a lot of business but the point is what should we do as employees

for sure there won’t be increments

It's not that "simple" avatar. If Qatar wants to keep growing as a country they need to manage costs. High prices effect everyone, especially the productivity of this country. If costs sky rocket again, you can bet I won't be the only person leaving, and Qatar will find it hard to attract more people.

By smoke• 1 Nov 2010 10:52

May be not but then not everyone's companies provide them with furnished villas. Not everyone's salaries are enough to rent a 1 or 2 bedroom house by themselves. Why do you think there are so many "sharing" accommodations here?

If they seriously want people to live here they better lower rents or increase salaries, change their damn RP rules so people can live with their families and construct roads that dont bloody go around in circles.

Hey if you're happy paying 10,000 QR for a crap 2 bdrm apartment avatar that's your issue. I for one like the costs lower.

The cost of living will sky rocket. Just like it did during the Asian games.
