If you don't like Qatar....
By AngelinaBallerina •
I've lived in Qatar for a few years now and one thing that I'm noticing more and more is this awful attitude from people. That being if you don't like it then you know where the airport is!!!
I sort of feel that this is an extremely negative and pretty bland statement to make!Verging on primitive!Any thoughts?
Rightly said @ MM.
Good or bad are part of the game.
Many people are travelling in different country once in their life. Some time their experience is good, sometimes it is bad.
Thanks & Regards,

I do not agree with your expertise since my experience with Qatar was superb and most fascinating one. I really enjoyed myself in Qatar.
Anyways, I am working for pharmacyglobalrx, an online drug store dealing with drugs such as Cialis which treats Erectile Dysfunction among men.
You can check my website : http://www.pharmacyglobalrx.net/cialis.html
I agree with most of the people over here. As time changes, people change too. We should not directly run into the conclusion instead visit the place our self and find out the truth.

Dear Ex-pats... (KHARJIS)
Qatar is an excellent place to live... it really is...but for whom? The answer is Qataris. And to be honest, that is exactly the way it should be. It's their country, they own it.
People who complain all the times, STOP it. They pay you to "Work" and so do not expect a picnic in here. Most of us came here for money, lets face it. And if you have a better option, please avail it in an instant and go away if you dont like the place or are being treated in an undesirable way.
Bags full of dollars and that too tax free :) Take it or leave it :P Thats a blunt answer.
To be honest i used to be like that, pretty much be critical of this country. Culture shock contributed a great deal, social life or lack of it here ...yeah, last year i left this country for 5 months to try a different country..had visa issues so i ended up here again. All in all it just takes a good while getting used to, so bear with people that find it hard to adjust and tend to be critical. Afterall it is different from the rest of the world.
Remarkably outstanding post… thanks a lot for writing this wonderful article… hope you keep up the good work…

lol...what nerve you got to even spell that word racism when on the other thread you are stating "Indian..enough said"...duh!! Idiots of your calibre truly need to be escorted to the airport to leave for good.
BTW I never got up at the crack of dawn to go for work and also never worked in hot sunshine and humidity. And btw not everyone needs to be working like that. Get life!!!
fedupbrit, what racism have you experienced? Can you share an example? Or maybe you are referring to racism towards labourers?
rant over?
Another wtf moment brought to you by Molten.
Lucky are those few who had their tails chopped off during the probation period and are living with pride from then onwards ..
AAlFadhala, your last sentence is pretty contrasting, considering what's written below as your signature. LOL!
If you don't like Qatar....JUST GET OUT OF IT!
Easy as that!!
But the dark side don't have a light saber...:)
I sense a plot to destroy the Jedi. The Dark Side of the Force surrounds the OP. :O(
Angelina why would you care what people think of Qatar...if u cant stay in Qatar without being nosy u know where the airport is also.
I like Qatar and I don't lose my sleep brooding over what others feel about this country..period.
Never argue with fools, because people from a distance can't tell who is who
Fathimah...good one!
I guess I really do not have anything to suggest anymore. So I must peace out from here.
dont you do the same as well segmund?
I could agree or disagree but unfortunately I'm not entirely sure where you're coming from with that......care to elucidate???
Exactly you think that it is healthy, there are others who think criticizing their life in Qatar could be healthy in that it allows for a possiblity of improvement. Why do you tend to show them the location of the airport for doing something which you too are doing exactly.
This is just an easy escape for anyone who wants to simply dis another, rather than getting into a meaningful debate that will involve more patience, time, wit and intellect.
Segmund....this is a public forum whereby one is at liberty to place issues....I have highlighted an issue that bothers me and I am interested to hear what others feel about it........I'm not suggesting at all, merely putting the discussion out there. Its healthy to discuss.........or is QL not the place to have healthy discussion anymore *sighs*
Oh dear I seriously am starting to think you need help.
By that I mean that those that can use a computer and still have 18th century beliefs.......that is not a reflection on all QL users of course.......I'm still in the 16th century and quite miffed that I can't acquire Mead in the bottle shop....
I think then we could argue what right you have to suggest anything to us? I think it is not that serious a matter that you are assuming it to be. I really wonder if it has any legal or even economic ramifications. lol
And this 'attitude' is filtered down and allowed to fester with other workers.......not healthy nor productive....This attitude is also quite blatant on QL which would indicate to me that it is rife amongst those that are half educated which is worrying in this day and age!!!
Funny we used to fill in the blanks at school.
Then one could argue what rights expats have to suggest this to other expats?? I feel that maybe they may too spineless and lily livered ( I love my Victorian phrases sometimes) to dare take issues to their higher ups therefore fobbing people off with this stupidity!!! Maybe management of companies should be better 'vetted' before allowing them to take such positions!!!!
Angelina, I agree, I have never heard this from a Qatari either.
Again, I do believe that some people rather not hear or talk about things that are wrong...and if someone does, the only reaction they know is to say, "then leave". Bit limited there...;)
the comment mostly comes from expats
And yes.......I have 'dealings' with Qataris every day.....beautiful people.....sadly I feel that it's not the indigenous people that have this strange attitude!!!
Indeed but again that is very superficial to say don't listen etc etc I feel it would be more dynamic to ask workers how situations can be improved rather than ' don't complain now bugger off'!!!! We are all here to work and for the most part people work hard and it's a slight kick in the face when one hears the usual schpiel (sic....probably)........
I agree with you in toto. For many people it is just a pastime these days to keep lambasting their life in Qatar. Before moving in here, the impression I had of life in this country was altogether distorted. The locals, I was told, are haughty, arrogant, cruel and always look down on foreigners as their paid servants.
Upon arriving here, I was rather pleasantly surprised. I found that most of the Qataris are indeed better than many other people I had met. I have found most of them to be sociable, polite, kind and very down to earth despite their affluent status.
Save for Utopia, there is nowhere on the green land of Lord where no problems exist. Each region, each city and each country has it is unique problems--- and its unique positive points at the same time. Qatar is by no means an exception.
Some people might argue that such kind of complaining attitude is rather cathartic, and thus therapeutic in nature. I disagree. Such attitude, at best, signals a pessimistic mindset and at worst, has the potential to blur from the people's sight all that is good. By constantly focusing on the negative aspects of anything, anything for that matter, in time, we, as human seem to identify that thing with bad and which ultimately makes it very hard for us to accept anything good about it.
Human beings are particularly vulnerable to suggestion. And as such, it is important to dwell on the good in the good things and the bad in bad things. This way it wont be difficult to embrace goodness and discard all that is not good.
It is my sincerest request to all the cynics of Qatar to refrain from decrying their woes. Instead, it would be good to share their positive thoughts related to life in Qatar.
people are free to say what they want! you don't like it you ignore them ;)
Any why are you mad? lol
Times change. Don't let it get you down ..
If you want, please tell us which other Gulf country it was..
Mmmmm I've been an expat in other Gulf country and didn't hear this nonsense there!!! We were valued for our experience and knowledge and were not described as 'guests' (a term which makes my skin crawl). We just happened to work there and got on with it without feeling as if we were skating on thin ice!!!!
Sadly, such is the reality of an expat life;especially in the Gulf. Expats are viewed as mercenaries paid to do a job without griping or quibbling. We are expected to "put up" with what's around us and move on if we are not happy.
that is what we call it "a kind of Freedom of expression" and no one is going to put U on board forcefully.
Or uneducated call it what you will!!!
Well not to me personally but I've heard it in 'real' life!!! I find it quite worrying that people are so fickle!!
Quite a few people lack the ability to discuss any issue so they take the easy way out and tell the other party to accept it or leave Qatar.
That being said, has anyone told you outside QL to leave Qatar if you don't like something? I think this is an argument unique to the virtual world.
lol...:) But who are they to decide the mode of transport. I may like to go by sea and so they need to do everything required and advice me the process to leave...:)
I think this happens because quite a few people think it is better to say nothing than to be critical....they might not understand that criticism is the first step to make things better.
