Imagine that you are working in a coffee shop and you are putting the regular coffee shots for your customer, and suddenly the boss tells you to reduce these coffee shots without telling you why.
Your customer will get disappointed, what would you tell your boss?
Will you just follow what the boss says?

Report your boss to the higher management. This means the boss is a recruit(spy) from a rival coffee brand and he wants to sabotage the business of your brand. These are intangible losses, such as the loss in reputation.
Oh my what great suggestions, you guys know how to get a guy fired for sure...
Boss is always right, always remember who signs your paycheck. You can let him know if the customer complains but that's just about it. Serve coffee as you are told.

ask first the reason, before you follow your boss. b/w you and your boss, you are the one who interface directly with the customer, you may have inputs/ suggestions that your boss won't know. Analyze if change is for better and do not hesitate to give inputs to your boss
if the customer complains, send your boss over to talk to him.. :P

It's none of your business, just do as you're told.
If you get complaints from the customers, you should forward them to your boss. And don't tell the customers that your "stupid boss" ordered you to serve them weak coffee. It's none of your business.

If I'm serving coffee for a living, then I can't say I'd feel emotionally or professionally involved enough to care what the boss does.

Customer feedback is the best way to sustain his business. If boss boss wants to be a short sighted granite head, he will sink his own business.
