Immigration chiefs eye single visa GCC TRVL

A single visa application scheme for visitors to the GCC, similar to the system in Europe, is expected to be approved by immigration chiefs attending a meeting in Abu Dhabi on Monday.

The single visa will allow people to travel across all six Gulf states without the need for separate travel permits, according to the director general of the Kuwaiti General Administration for Immigration.

Brigadier Kamel Al Awadhi told Kuwait’s news agency KUNA that the single Gulf visa application system had bee suggested and approved in theory at a recent meeting of undersecretaries at the GCC’s interior ministries in Riyadh.

I thought that this was to be ONLY for business travellers. The idea is to allow companies in the GCC to send their employees for business trips to other GCC countries without having to apply for visas. Thheoretically, you will also be able to live in Saudi and travel to work in Qatar or abu dhabi.

But if implemented it would boost tourism, trade especially with Bahrain - Doha - Abu Dhabi Bridges and the Gulf Rail system project .. hopefully the Gulf Ego won't halt this initiative ..

GCC has come with several ideas in past but never worked

They are good in dispute... example of 'Monetary Union Plan' which seems to be derailed.

GCC Countries.

1) Kingdoms of Bahrain

2) Saudi Arabia

3) The sultanate of Oman

4) The states of Kuwait

5) Qatar and

6) The United Arab Emirates.

Out of Six only three Countries are in the Monetary Union Plan. 3 pulled out due disputes.

Very good Idea to have a schengen type of visa for GCC, atleast allow to travel and business.

I think if this law implements, tourism activities will boosted. It will be good move to over come current crisis.

All GCC countries will consider the above law as early as possible.

I hope this will resolve the issue of visit visa to parents of expats. No other GCC country restricts the visit of parents over 60 years of age.

>>Review visit visa age bar
