What in your opinion are the reasons for the sudden interest in Indian affairs (namely the status of women) by international media?

I believe its because of the recent happenings....it needs to be improved. May be because of that international media is focusing on this issue and obviously they will get a wide circulation/coverage

The reason behind that is, because India will be a super power soon -:)

I guess you are probably right, they have the same culutral problems but it has not been highlighted in the media so much yet.

Indian has 1.2 billion people so it is a major country in the world, Indians have also run away from their country and settled all over the world so there is interest from them.

Then you have the horrific stories of gang rape, not just one or two but many and also including foreign nationals. This highlights the culture of rape in India
