Infocomm firms keen to plug into e-govt
To whoever is planning to do business in the Middle East, my advice would be ‘start with Qatar’. The country has an amazing vision for the future and that vision is supported by ample liquidity,” an infocomm company executive said in Singapore last week.
At a networking luncheon organised by the Infocomm Development Authority Singapore (IDA) on the sidelines of an ICT exhibition, he said Qatar’s investment in the ICT infrastructure would make it easier for the country to gauge upgrades in technology to strengthen its e-governance initiatives.
A number of Singaporean firms have already done successful projects in Qatar.
NCS, which made its Middle East foray three years ago, has assisted Qatar in setting up the e-governance portal and shape the Hukoomi initiative.
ukoomi is at the centre of Qatar’s effort to create a transparent and people-friendly e-governance, using state-of-the-art ICT advances. An easy online e-governance portal, it puts government information and services, especially e-business initiatives, at the fingertips of those who live and work in Qatar.
Over the next four years, more than 50 initiatives across various sections are projected to become part of the service to make it the principal way of connection with the people and the Government of Qatar.

so this amazing vision should include a massive improvement in the broadband capability( not withstanding the submarine cable that will reach here .... one day) ? the one that everyone here is so fed up with.
Or perhaps a more enlightened censorship policy ?.
they should fix all the issues with their hukoomi website, java and browsers compatibility
If only they could fix the online speeding ticket payment system.
I think this idea by Qatar government favors a lot of expats to do transaction with the MOI through online.
