International credit transfer for Hala
International credit transfer facility for Hala customers.
Qtel’s Hala customers will now be able to make credit transfer from their mobile to international numbers in seven countries.
The new service – International Credit Transfer, which Qtel said is the first in Qatar, is a ‘safe, simple and fast way’ for Hala Prepaid mobile customers to transfer mobile credit to international numbers in India, the Philippines, Pakistan, Indonesia, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka through an ‘established’ airtime network.
To activate the service, customers will simply have to send the text message ‘ACT’ to 92266. Once customers activate the service, they can choose their own three digits to create a personal PIN code, which will be used from then on to manage credit transfers.
Credit is deducted from the sender’s Hala account and gifted directly to the recipients mobile phone account.
Recharging takes place in real time, with both sender and receiver immediately notified of the transaction by SMS. Text message (SMS) charge will not be levied either on the sender or receiver. However, a small service fee of Dh50 will be charged for each credit transfer transaction.
Qtel said, “the introduction of the International Credit Transfer service is a complementary part of Qtel’s ongoing Mobile Money strategy, which provides wide range of ways for customers to manage their money by paying and transferring funds locally and internationally through mobile phones. Sending credit to families in these destinations will be as easy as sending a text message,”
“Qtel is committed to providing more choice and more value for customers in the money and credit transfer field, and has announced a series of major initiatives that will roll-out over 2010 and 2011.
“Qtel has listened to the needs of their customers and realised that International Credit Transfer is an ideal way for Hala Prepaid customers to top-up the mobile phones of people they are constantly in touch with overseas. The service allows for credit transfers from as low as QR10 up to a maximum of QR250 per month simply using a free SMS message.”
Other than cash, International Credit Transfer is the ‘best immediate gift’ a Hala customer can give to friends and family abroad, Qtel said.
“With the new service, there is no worrying about exchange rates, and no delays in transfer due to network problems. Everything is managed directly from customer’s mobile phone,” Qtel said.
Qtel is in an advanced stage of launching a trusted, secure and convenient “Mobile Money” service that enables its customers to access many financial services directly from their mobile phones.
