iPhone 5s on 4G
I was wondering if anyone here has tried using 4G with their new 5s? According to Ooredoo's FAQ, the 5c and 5s will work and to make sure your device supports their frequencies, 800 and 2600Mhz. I've tried it and it didn't work so I cancelled it only to be told that it's not supported yet, lol. And that I will be charged the 9 days I tried to get it to work.
I've been told by three Ooredoo call center folks that Apple has to update the phone. I asked why does Apple have to update when the handset's hardware already supports Ooredoo's frequencies. The fourth call center guy first said it was Apple as well and then said, no, Ooredoo has to update. So I asked what needed to be updated and he told me the frequencies. I reminded him that the device already uses the same existing 4G frequencies Ooredoo operates. He placed me on hold for a while and said he would have his supervisor call me.
Sooooo...has anyone had any experience getting a 5s to work with 4G here?
even if you have correct frequencies it will not work. both Apple and Ooredoo has to do tests and then Apple will push a carrier update to enable 4G/LTE for Ooredoo network. same thing happened with the iPhone 5 in Dubai/Kuwait/Saudi last year. so wait for sometime!
