Jet ski - registration needed?

Hi all,

I am currently trying to sell my jet skis and found a potential buyer. The buyer has asked me if we need to transfer ownership of the jet ski which I honestly dont know.

When I bought the jet ski I was informed to register them and I have so far spoken to a few people who only believe you have to register cars, boats, motorcycles but not ATV's or jet skis.

I have searched the internet for documentation but have been unable to find any. Anyone in here know if there is a government homepage where it says I have to register them?

Yours sincerely,

Klaus

Hi. But it's better to register. In case of accident while towing or in the sea you will be able to claim and prove that this jet ski belongs to you.

And also in case of lost or stolen , still you can claim that the jet ski is yours.

Also there is a law to register your jet ski and also the trailer.

But the trailer you have to register in traffic dept. Also you can insure it.200 riyals.

Regarding the jet ski , you need your valid ID and a letter from the showroom. And your ATM CARD (100 riyals) And all the dealers they got an official letter from coast guard that they can't issue any jet ski until you register the jet ski. Same as your car. (some dealers they don't follow the rules).

Regards

The boat registration office might be a good place to find out.

Hi James,

I own a boat as well and I know where to find the registration office. Once again I have to state that I haven't been in any accident or made any violation with the jet ski and as long as I know the truth about that I'm good.

It is correct that when buying a boat you have to register it but my initial question was: Do you, by law, need to register jet ski?

I bought them from new and wasn't informed by Yamaha to do this.

Hi Baburao,

No violation, never had an accident or anything. I just dont know the rules. I want to ensure that if I tell the buyer the jet skis dont need to be registered that it is the truth.
