Kindey Stone & Stent placement in HMC

By Tarsiers

Have anyone ever had a stone in his/her ureter and had to have a stent placed there?

If yes, can you please share your experience and any side effects or complications that you had after placing and removing the stent?

I would be grateful if you can share your experience.

Thank you.

There is another urologist there, its Dr. Shehab. He was the one I approached regarding my stone problem. I underwent for a sound wave treatment maybe around 3 times, and its a good thing that after a couple of days with the help of medicines as well that he prescribed to me, grains of pulverized stone would really pass out.

I don't know now if I still have stones coz after the last session he said its just grains of stone/sand left in my kidney manageable to be treated by medicines he prescribed to me. I might go back there again this August coz I feel something again.

Anyhow good luck to you. It's a great financial relief if you do have your insurance card as you will only pay 25 riyals valid for 15 days..

Thank you for the advise, but what is the exact name of it? Digestine Pills or ayurvedic pills? I googled both and found the pills but can't see anything that tells about dissolving the stone...

I don't know why it does not want to pass away with urine...They placed for me a ureter stent because the stone blocked the flow of urine for couple of days which caused infection and almost damaged my right kidney as the test showed a dramatic fall in the right kidney's function from normal in the first day when I reported to the ER to very low when I reported back to the ER once I started to vomit, had fever and sever pain on the right front and back side of my abdomen....

The first time when I reported, the doctor told me that its okey! it is just a stone that will pass away if i drink more water. He did not give any medication or checked with ultrasound if the stone was blocking the flow of urine.. Couple of days later, the pain has increased, and I had fever with vomiting, so I reported back to the ER, and that was the time when they did ultrasound for me and figured out that the flow of urine was blocked on the right side kidney.

So they had to do cytoscopy for me to place a stent and break the stone, but during the operation, they discovered that the ureter and kidney were infected, so they just placed a stent and did not break the stone...

Now, I am about to have a second surgery to remove the stent and break the stone....

I dont know why they did not check from the 1st day when I reported in the ER with severe pain if the stone is blocking the urine from flowing or not(which partially damaged my kidney because of this ignorant act), and why they did not check if there is any infection before doing the cytoscopy and getting out without breaking the stone (hence it is not allowed to do anything if the ureter and kidney is infected as per their saying).

What if they do the second surgery (cytoscopy) and they find that the area is still infected. They will again end it and schedule me for another operation... I think I still have some infection because of the symptoms that I have and because as per the articles I read on internet, a stent is a stranger object in the body which usually cause infections..

Are they experimenting or practicing on me or what??......
