Kuwaiti forced QA to make emergncy landing

A Kuwaiti man forced a Qatar Airways flight to make an emergency landing in Mumbai on Saturday after he picked a fight with cabin crew.

The 40-year-old reportedly had to be restrained after hitting a female member of staff when she asked him to put his seatbelt on.

The man had his hands and feet tied together to bring him under control, before being offloaded at Mumbai airport, the daily Times of India reported on Sunday

"He refused to sit on his seat, or even put the seat-belt on," an airport source told the newspaper.

"When the flight attendant insisted that he take his seat, he refused and hit her. His behaviour petrified the passengers who were sitting near him, and they too refused to bear with him.”

The incident happened on board Qatar Airways flight 612 to Bangkok.

I see from the Peninsula that the passenger will be returned to Doha a few days after the flight.

The normal costs incurred for causing a plane to make an emergency landing is something in the region of $80,000 and with it a prison sentence.

No doubt the Kuwaiti embassy has thrust cash at the local officials to get him quietly home. This is what they normally do when one of their beloved 'nationals' gets into trouble. Just unbelievable. I hope they lock him up in a prison for physically assaulting a crewmember. But then, cabin crew are just slaves in nice uniforms, aren't they?

looks like Bangkok attracts the wrong crowd from this part of the world... I was once on a Thai Airways flight from Bangkok to Bombay... there was an Arab passenger on board who insisted on lying down on the middle row of seats... He made such a scene that he brought the flight attendant almost to tears and the passengers whom those seats belonged to eventually gave in and had to be seated elsewhere...

If that flight was bound to America, he could be charge with terrorism in the sky.

Lucky for him, there was no Federal Air Marshal aboard. Then he would be shot in the spot.
