Landlord strikes again...........!!!!

China Syndrome

So the landlords are tied to some new laws now. But ours has found a new move.

Our central A/C broke today, so half the house is like an oven. We have kids so I wasted no time in calling the rent office to get the air con maintenance to fix it, as we usually would.

But I was surprised when they told me 'No more maintenance from now on'. I questioned how they can do this, he just said, "direct orders from landlord, what can they do".

Unfortunately my landlord is a high up National, so I can not name him or complain to the authorities, I will obviously lose, no matter what.

It is frustrating, but what to do.

Can anybody recommend a good honest A/C maintenance contact.

Maintenance was included in the original 3 page contract, since then we only get a note each year informing us of the increase in rent, and the new rate.

They issued us with 'maintenance request forms', so maintenance was obviously included as they saw it. As I said, I called them in the usual way, implying a past history of maintenance. Maintenance has also been carried out since the last renewal, January.

I have been here long enough to see what happens when people put up a fight with the wrong people. I have also heard of others winning. However, in my book the risk v consequence just isn't worth it. In my case no lawyer will touch the case when they here the landlords name.

My belief is that peoples greed will be judged and punished at the end of the day, their day, justice will be done.

Thanks Whoami for the offer, but some fights are just not worth it.

I have an engineer coming tomorrow morning thanks to qatman, in the meantime we will stay in the bedroom.

Thank you lamea, if I have a problem with these people, I will keep Mr Rasheed's number.

The very same happened to me. Its in my contract that i received 24 hour response to Maintainance requests, included in my already extortinate monthly rent.

The new rent laws were introduced, and immediately I was asked for a monthly Maintainence fee. (cash). The maintainence was poor already, why would you pay more. The dishonesty was the clincher, so we moved. Greed makes people untrustworthy.

Your contract, no matter what certain people say, is not worth the paper it is written on and the system is still not yet fully supportive of tenants, despite a few recent victories.

You can laugh at me all you like because I have Alzheimers, .......but at least I dont have Alzheimers

you have to read the contract first very carefully, and if you dont like it you can always change before signing it. Negotiation is important.

Usually in Doha when you rent some house maintenance is provided by landlord for the first 3 month, 6 month or 1 year, or if he is a good company then he will provide 24 hours maintenance forever till your date expired.

Read again your contract and if he have to do it for you then you should insisted ask for it. they will give up and do it for you.

Are you a lawyer?

you will not lose. Show me the contract and I'll give you advice.

You only lose if you give up without a fight. And as I say, those who give up before trying don't deserve to win in the first place.
