laws when it come to car modification?

Hey does anyone know what the exact law is on what is allowed and not allowed in Qatar when i comes to car modding. There is no straight answer that anyone gives, nor is there any information on the moi website. The cops are retarded here and speak mostly only arabic.

So whats the deal with tinting? I hear if u have original tinting u dont need a permission from the muroor. Is this true?

What about body vinyls and stickers are these legal?

cold air intakes and air filters. They are sold everywhere but are they legal?

performance exhaust systems are those legal?

body painting like racing stripes or two tone coloring. Or if i wanted to change my hood and replace it with one thats more moulded can I do this without problems?

Please also tell me if i could get into trouble at the isthamara check.

Thanks :)

any1 else pimp out ur cars? please tell us ur ideas and work

regerra.com seems to have proper informations and modified light assembly for a very good price comparitively. Most of them are cheaper than amazon. do you guys know any other similar websites?

i'll try...

there are 2 categories for annual technical inspection, i just cant remember those two categories but 1 is for legalities and the other one is technical.

legalities like standard bumper (visual), tint and etc.. while the technical is more under the hood and performance.

for your first question about tinting. AFAIK, if the vehicle have original tingting from the factory, you don't need to get permission but it will be mentioned/registered at the initial registration.

Body vinyls and stickers are illegal except if you have permit (this is for marketing/business purposes only)

CAI / Air filters are illegal under technical but the police will not catch you if they see this to your car except that it will be failed at the technical inspection. If you're planning for CAI upgrade, make sure that you keep your original intake for annual inspection use.

Performance exhausts are illegal.

body painting like racing stripes or two tone coloring

They fail vehicles mostly on visual modifications, scratches and dents because most of the people doing the inspections couldn’t pass a basic vehicle maintenance exam. Little less understand technical safety inspections. I have asked a few of these guys’ simple technical questions and the answers they gave was scary .

well, unless if the car comes flat black from the company ( like bently, Lambo, etc ) you are not allowed, which is very un fair i find.

If you have a body wrap, it is all fine until you either get cought by a police or at the time of renewing your registration or Mechanical test.

i hope that helps

So CAR TUNER, what you're saying is that flat black color is not allowed at all? even if it's done by a body wrap???

brother everything is legal until you get caught ;) Seriously the chances of cops catching you coz of some stickers on the hood is slim to none.

Yeah I would like more room in the rear... Champagne holder with refrigerator ... all seats that fold to form a bed... Shirt hanger etc...

We were once Chase by the Police Car at 3am. reason? loud muffler huh! muffler is build-in from stock. asking us to pull over but the good thing its a sports car lol.. what else if you modify it? you'll be more in trouble.

By anonymous• 8 Mar 2011 13:36

That's right, smoke. They won't find out if you use forged pistons instead of cast iron.

I'd take engine mods over exterior mods any day. Its fun when a car looks stock but runs like hell :P plus you wont get into trouble with the cops.

Avoid major physical changes in appearance of the car.

I don't understand, why don't people drive their cars in the original state...

Waste of Money, and then when you go for renewal, Cops would make your Life Miserable....

You have different types of problems and what is a problem for someone else might not be a problem for you or vise versa

1- Cops

2- renewing registration

3- Warranty Loss

In terms of Colors ( renewing registration )

------------------

which is NOT car modification by any means to any car enthusiast, Anything is allowed except of Flat colors ( especially flat black and flat red ), Anything else is OK as long as you do not change more than half of the car and take it to renew registration..

Mechanical upgrades ( Renewing registration, Cops, Warranty Loss)

-------------------

You can do ANYTHING, but making yourself sound super loud is asking for trouble especially from locals who are cops.. Meaning, anyone that wears white that works for the police in some way. They can get your car impounded straight from the Villagio parking

Meaning instead of pulling out your resonator and Cats, just put a race Cat to be safe, which you will have to replace when doing your mechanical inspection test as well.

They have something against headers too. Especially when you want to pass the mechanical inspection.

This is problematic to renewing your registration, Cops, Warranty

Cold air intakes, you only lose your warranty, which is very odd.

----------------

Software Tune ups,As long as done on your original ECU, no one

-----------------

knows whats going on, even your Dealer at times of maintenance.

Any of the above statements is applicable for the average person, and things might change depending on your last name.
