Le Notre Villagio

I can't understand them. First I went there with expatwoman.com crowd for their weekly coffee. Because so many of us (about 20 ladies), we want to combine the table. They restaurant say 'no'. Eventhough after the ladies who in charge with EW crowd talking to the manager (telling them that these ladies will be visiting them weekly, their venue will be advertised on the website), they still wont entertain us as customer. In the end EW now moved their weekly venue to another coffee somewhere else in Villagio.

Today I went with my filipina girlfriends crowd. There were over 10 of us (it was somebody's birthday).Same thing requested by the birthday girl, connecting the table so all of us can sit together. Same thing happening, they said 'no'. One of my girlfriend who her husband is a chief executive for Ramada Hotel tried to talk nicely to the restaurant manager. She brought up about 'customer service' issues , and I dont think from the look for the manager he bother with that.

The birthday girl not very happy, I told her dont take it seriously (these things are common in Qatar, customer service and all that) ... on next birthday celebration we just have to go somewhere else.

If people are too weak to stand up to bad service it will never improve.

I can understand some people though, being too scared to complain about bad services and need to vent the frustation elsewhere.

last year when we went there for one of the Pet Group coffee mornings. The manager basically refused to get a table for us for about 15 people in the smoking section. He was very rude about it too.

Must be the same manager, just changed shops.

Perhaps they are staying true to their Parisian roots? It's very hard to find cafes in Paris that allow you to move tables to accomodate larger groups, at least that was my experience.

To be fair, it could be that because Le Notre is a franchise, there may be a rule that says that tables cannot be moved from their set positions, as a way of keeping all the restaurants looking the same.

However, if this were the reason then management should have politely apoligised that they are unable to. Instead it just sounds more like management are twats.

I'll add it to my black list!

I love Le Notre - only ever had great food and good service there, both branches. However, I have to agree it's stupid to turn away customers and refuse to combine tables. Doesn't make sense at all. so not surprised you were pissed off Novita77.

I had similar experience at Bentley's in Ramada couple of weekends ago - they will only have max 6 people per table. We did know that, and chanced our arm and asked if we could bring 2 extra friends and put a chair at either end of the table, but they were totally adamant and refused, even tho there was enough room. That was their policy and we had to stick with it. One of our friends who was with us and is manager of a big hotel here was horrified by this - in his place, customer satisfaction is top of the list. Was a great meal by the way!

For those of you without children, you are missing out on a world of pleasure.

The last time we went to Le Notre (not Villaggio, the one at Ramada Lights), my boy ate a plateful of salad then simultaneously vomited and shat himself.

We have not returned.

no more endorsements from QL for Cafe Le Notre? he!he!

Well, some people might not know how effective QL opinions could become sometimes. Btw, why they refused to let your group combined tables? It's pretty unusual for them, huh?

nope i just saw the coffee shop when i went in the center mall, its not crowded and maybe its not seen by other people because theres another coffee shop at the front of the mall named coffee beanery. so maybe if you want quiet time or with friends its better to go there.

To be honest nine times out of ten if you just move the damn tables and sit down, they don't do much.

"sir, you cannot move these table"

"hey numpty, i believe i have just proven you wrong... Now bring me a menu please."

Novi haven't we had these same experiences when we went on the QL gatherings to Souq waqif and we left from those coffee shops happened twice from what I remember at Al Bandar and another place as well...

These things are just some strange policy set by the owners or managers of the places, I guess they have so many customers it doesn't matter to them if few people decide not to go back...

I am curious if the owner of LaNotre knows what his staff is doing. I often go to the top and many times they are not aware of what is happening. Maybe their managers are getting too big for their britches so to speak.

Heero, yes I had my tomato problem a while back ... and never touch that place ever since.

I will recommended Le Pain Quotidien at Villagio though ... great manager (Mr.Abdallah) and great waiter and waitress. He do everything I asked when I bring my mums coffee morning few months back (about 35 of us turn up).

Genesis, we went to Paris last summer, i saw Le Notre somewhere from the top our open double decker bus tour. But never actually tried it myself in Paris.

I never asked the Le Notre's manager nationality, but i am 99,9 percents sure that he is Lebanese

And btw ... since i dont speak French, what is "LADUREE"?

Don't bother your self. Le notre is nothing but an unknown cafe in Paris that tries to imitate Laduree.
