Lebanon government collapses..

britexpat
By britexpat

The Lebanese government has collapsed after Hizbollah and its allies walked out of a coalition..

So what now for the country ?

Wil Obama and Israel prop up Hariri and use this as means of tackling the power of Hizbullah. Or will Iran and Syria use Hizbollah to bring about some changes.

The worst thing that could happen is a return to civil war or even a conflict with Israel..

Tense times ahead :O(

Democarcy is accepting defeat and sitting in the opposition for the betterment of the country -

Today Hariri said he and his bloc would not take part in a Hezbollah-led government.

So he feels he MUST be Prime Minister..

What is democracy anyway?

Supporters of Saad Hariri have taken to the streets in protest at efforts by Hezbollah to form the next government.

Earlier, Hezbollah and its allies earlier won the nomination of their candidate Najib Mikati as the next prime minister.

The US expressed "great concern" over Hezbollah dominating government.

"Our view of Hezbollah is very well-known. We see it as a terrorist organisation, and would have great concerns about a government within which Hezbollah plays a leading role," State Department spokesman PJ Crowley said.

"The larger the role played by Hezbollah in this government the more problematic our relationship will be."

So , where does this democracy go now ?

lets just be clear. the truth is that hizbollah is shiiaa and is getting stronger specially after 2006 war with israel. all gulf countries and the neighboors of lebanon HATE shiiaa people and they would never let them have power in the region like in bahrain, kuwait, KSA ...

So as long as shiiaa in lebanon are strong, problems will always exist. thats the truth that people are afraid to tell.

cool. people are worrying about the situation in my country. well yeah there is a big problem. We have 2 groups and I think they have tried enough to find some commun points but it is not working. No civil war for sure and the war with Israel, mmmm there will be but not soon because we are taking our precautions to avoid that as well Israel is doing the same and tryin to avoid any military contact with us due to the presence of Hizbollah and to the US diplomatic efforts with Iran, Syria, KSA and Lebanon.

Anyway no need to fight guys. It happens in every country. At least we have democracy to be so different from each others but i really hate when it comes to killing and stuff like that.

It's funny to see non lebanese people discussing the lebanese situation, I've always thought that even the lebanese themselves never knew wot was really going on with their country, not even the politicians themselves. and now im reading all this, each one has an opinion and is analyzing the situation, it's just funny.

the same people who led lebanon to the civil war in the 70's are still leading lebanon this day, the same ideologies, same people, the only new team to the group is Hizbullah which was only concerned in fighting israel and freeing the land, and even hizbullah has a bad history fighting other lebanese people regardless of wether it was defending itself or not.

Leave lebanon for the lebanese, let the lebanese talk about their situation, its the only thing they have left.

There was a documentary on Aljazeera about Arab jews in Israel, an Iraqi jew said it bluntly that he isn't happy in Israel and he would prefer to go back to Iraq, so immigrating elsewhere isn't a solution.

My point is Christian Arabs are Arabs in the first place and they belong to this region , they shouldn't go anywhere and no one should force them to leave.

Look at how Lebanon has managed to develop its economy lately thanks to the quasi political stability.

I really hope and wish that the US administration would recognise a Palestinian state on the 67 borders, so that Palestinian refugees could go back and let this region revive again, but reality idicates otherwise :(

There are too many strings attached when it comes to Lebanon, but Lebanese people should have the final say,not Iran,Syria,Saudi Arabia,US or Israel.

Elaph… you think it’s all about sitting around a table and sorting things out… it’s that much easy?!?… the Lebanese people are struggling to live a descent life in a way or another, and still survive just by faking things in their brain… Lebanon is a no man’s land and I am sure you couldn’t and wouldn’t survive a second there… anyway I will just tell u few things to spare me ur comments and philosophy…

The 1st big problem in Lebanon:

Are the 600 000 Palestinians living on Lebanese ground in camps (military zones ready to explode at anytime), Israel is obliging Lebanon to give them the Lebanese nationality (Saudi Arabia supports that at 100%, because the Americans oblige them to do so, themselves obliged by Israel) cause u can imagine the nightmare for the Israelis if these 600 000 Palestinians were to go back to Palestine/ Israel?!?

As for The Sunnites Lebanese, and I’m talking about the Hariri fans.. (sponsored by SAUDI ARABIA) , they want this thing to happen Cause they think they will have another 600 000 Palestinians Sunnites who will become Lebanese= more votes=more idiots to fight= more power… and this way they will overrule the Shiites and Christians Lebanese.

The second Problem:

It’s the Hezbollah… (Party of God) pfffff and God now have a party…!?!? Anyway they are armed and dangerous and sponsored by IRAN and SYRIA… and are a constant and extreme danger to Israel!

So Elaph, as you can see it’s all about what ISRAEL decides!!!, and not for the Lebanese people to sit around a table, to sort things out!?!?

As for SIRYA, they are the biggest winners in all that… they are controlling Hezbollah and still present in each political Lebanese party, from Christians, to Sunnites or Shiites… + they still have their own army in the Palestinian camps…. they control the chess game, and will do anything to keep Lebanon and the stage it is now, which gives them more power once facing the Americans… Lebanon is their bargaining assets once facing the US…

Finally, God Help all the Lebanese people from any religion, party… and enlighten the brains and souls of some, and help the ones who are just looking for a better and descent life.

"zero culture"

i just want to mention that syrians among all the arabs are the most people who read.

we have inventors, poets, well educated people.

that is why singers ratio in syria is not that much, compared to other arab nations who are fighting to increase the number of singers and dancers.

we have one problem , which is language problem.

we study and read in arabic only , which make it difficult for us to communicate with others.

i don't know who you are since your first comment was to attack syrians.

man , if you read well , i am not the one who put the three types of Lebanese here.

please read above, even when i mentioned , i mentioned the good people i met.

but your anger blinds you from commenting well, so tell me what education do if you tracked my profile and saw a syrian , and you couldn't prevent yourself from commenting blindly?

Hey Brit, that is true, but i beleive our government has long collapsed since the 1974 civil war. Many of the Lebanese since then immigrated to other countries as it was no longer economically and politically stable. What you find now is corrupted rich leaders seeking power, control, and personal benefits. During each and every election they buy their votes from the helpless citizens and the loop goes on until this day...So this government Collapse news didn't add anything to the miserable situation because it has already been absent from the people and country's needs for decades.

eh man, thanks for worrying but please don't...we will fix it between each other...lebanon went through tougher days and as usual it stood up and continued...the people are the closest to each other now...no place for civil war at all...sure few intruders will come and try to light things up, but they'll be faced with everyone else!

a conflict with israel (the regime not the jews) will take place eventually...whether today or tomorrow there's no escape of it...as for me i want to drive to "beyt lehem" and pray in the church of nativity...i really think its about time to do so!!!
