The Qatar national library is (i think)on the D-ring road before you get to the Gaint stores( the one at the corner of the mirqab st)???...well this is what i found on the net....hope it's worth something..

To be fair, if you read the British Council website carefully, the library bit only refers to teaching materials and children's books. They had a good collection, but it was only being used by expat Brits, so they decided that their duty was to the local, ie Qatari, population, and got rid of the fiction library in order to focus on teaching and reference.
The collection went to the Doha Players, but was destroyed in the bomb attack.
why do they explain in such detail about their library in british council.have they closed it down or was it never in existance.
A few book collections at clubs like Garveys, Sailing, Rugby, etc, but No library at the British Council, I'm afraid.
Have a look in the Image Gallery under 'Places' and you will find a picture of the Qatar National Library. Have a good look because it's the closest you're going to get to the real thing: its location is the best-kept secret in Doha.
