How do you think about it?Could it work? Are there some QL members which went through it or are in this situation right now?
I want to know how you came clear with it and how you managed it.

SG, for a while it will make you believe that it does work...but eventually, sigh...i know what you are asking here..communication and instinct should work for both parties...:) you know where im gettin at right? ;P

Long distance relationship does work but it all depends on what you really feel for each other. It can be really hard too. It happened to me and my partner. Those days...I had to finished my Uni and he has to work in a country were it is not safe for women. Now no one can separate us ;-)

if there is trust in the relationship. Without trust, you have nothing !!

Believe me, i should know !

Been there, done that and still on it, the previous one lasted for 4 years, geographically, he works in Far East and I’m working here in Qatar. We managed to kept those 4 years with constant communication, (emails, sms, chatting, phone calls) and strong trust with each other though during those 4 years I’d seen him physically for jus4 times. I must admit it’s very hard to sustain especially him being a jealous type of guy and I was like just okay with everything, him being so far away. We ended up the relationship in a good way. We still emailing each other and he’s getting married now and plan to settle in Philippines.

Although, we never end up being together, I treasure those times and I guess we became much better person out of it

The only thing I can say is, “I survived and managed (faithfully) to kept those 4 years because I believed in him and I gave my complete trust and I never doubted him, he did!

Good luck!

Have a mighty day to everybody!

Cheers!

its about how you look at it. Either the glass is half empty, or half full. I am a believer in the latter, and it has stood me in good stead.

I tend to believe that everything will work out in the end. LDR's, if both are committed enough, will have to work too.

When it does not, either you were wrong, or you choice was. Either way, you gain, coz you learn. And thats what life is about...falling down and learning from the fall!

Muttabal is also known as 'Baba Ghanush'

Ha!

Shortly after I got married and was living in Jeddah, hub received a letter from a 'recent' girlfriend who probably didn't know he was now 'taken'. He showed me the letter, but wouldn't respond to it - so I did!

It was a nice chatty letter, but she never replied. How rude of her!

bubba...

and...the flip to the distance makes the heart grow fonder...

distance makes the heart go wander...

but its all in how strong the relationship is to begin with and how you deal with it!!!

By jauntie• 4 Nov 2007 08:01
jauntie

Distance IS said to make the heart grow fonder, however for every positive saying, there is always a negative other side of the coin, as in 'out of sight - out of mind' :o(

LDR's are not the best. But they are certainly good for the people who believe they are.

LDRs are a total waste of time...

One can be friends LDR but thats it...

Only if there is a target date to be together...

Get back together if you can be together one day.

But don't waste your life...

He is working on everything from his end and sometimes men are slower at it than we are. I am very sad about it, but hopefully all will be good again and we can be together. Miss talking on QL, been quite busy trying to get things together in US. Oh, I love hummus, but not the green kind. Lol

Know that the end is in sight and soon it will be over. Let the doubts go away. That is so hard to do though. I wonder what he is doing and I am sure he does the same for me.

went through that when I was engaged and had to live away from my fiance for a year...and there was this girl that had her eye on him where he lived...and went after him...until....I went to visit...and we'd all gone out as a group and she kept him out on the dancefloor for a couple of songs and I told one of her friends that if she didn't come back after the next song..she better be looking for a very good wig...cause she'd need it... :) needless to say..she left well enough alone after that..

the one and only way is to trust each others and to keep yourself busy. The time goes by faster so and yes,to visit each others is like to be born again because you are the happiest person alive then.Almost you feel like that.

Yes it works! As long as you really love each other LDR or Long Distance Relationship works.

Regular communication is advised, there are a lot of ways to do that net chatting, phone calls (3G/video call),e-mails,sending love letters thru mails and lastly put God in the center of your relationship.

Meet or visit his or her family if you have time.
