long-term visit

Hi Guys!

can someone please give me an idea how long can a visit visa be extended for family members? i am planning to take my mother here some time next year but i'd like it to be at least 6 months stay in Qatar, is it allowed by immigration rules? i went to main immigration office one time but it seems that i can't get good info from them. i think all employees are arabic-speaking people and the problem is i don't know how to speak arabic.
