Actually, contrary to popular belief, posting a pic of a dog, gives people to much info. (I've asked for one to be posts to the QAWS FB page - it is easier to find them, then)
Meaning that any of the dog's markings can be seen and anyone can identify the dog as THEIR own.
My Husky has one marking no-one knows about, and if ever she goes missing, it will be the one thing I can use to ID her. Having them Microchipped is also helpful:-)
Sorry Doha Infidel - you can do a you tube search on dog escape artists, some are extremely good at it.
As for the picture or description, a German Shepherd unless he is all black or a white shepherd is pretty much the general description.
All of us dog owners try to be very careful about our pets, but we can't control outside factors.
I've owned dogs for 20 years. Cancer was their killer. So am I a neglectful dog owner for not being able to control that?
The OP maybe? was trying to be generous in his description (and hoping to get his dog back) as there are many idjits here (and all around the world) who see German Shepherds as fighting dogs (and therefore "useful" in dogfighting - very popular criminal activity in the GCC) when in fact they are NOT.
give a description of your dog with a pic, via mail, so we can post it in our lost and found pages.
Doha_infidel, with the best will in the world, nothing is impossible. My animals are locked behind a gate, day in and day out, and I am padantic about keeping the gate closed. When anyone enters or exits, I put the dogs in the house, but I am still worried about them getting out.
Believe me, if my dogs get out of my property, its not because I didn't care enough to check the gate (sometimes up to 4 times). Its because it was an accident or someone stole them.
Best people to ask would be the second chance rescue shelter. They find and foster dogs that have been abandoned or lost. I can't seem to find a telephone number for them but they are on Facebook -https://www.facebook.com/2ndchancerescueqatar
and you can contact them through the page.
Good luck and I hope you will be reunited with Alex soon :)
May last I saw one dog nesr alkhor camp I ws going to Doha and morning I saw nice dog and I was thinkin how it came here , Dog was wandering and I am sure it was alshesian og what we call in India.it was in the end of may month
German shepherds are way too attached to its owner and its premises. So expect him to turn up at your doorstep. If he is stolen, the thief will soon release him because of his "impeccable" manners.. :-)
I own a German Shepherd and know the breed really well now.. :-(
Anyway I pray that you get back your dog soon. It hurts. Someone who does not have a dog will not know the pain you are going through. So please ignore the idiotic comments..

No it says "dog lost or stolen".
dog escaped,
why??
owner not fully engaged in its safety
negligence on the owner is why the animal is missing..
I am sorry the animal is missing, but the hard truth is they weren't taking proper precautions.
D-I's signature line says it all.. :-(
Wow DI, I didn't realize you are omniscient! Great talent. Hope you use it for good.
sorry..
but,the truth hurts..
if the dog has become part of the family,
the animal was not watched over very well..
so it was able to escape..

Thanks asuhuassain, but I figured it was a duel of wits with an unarmed opponent, hence the deletion.
