Love, Really?
Terence expressed his desire to Kate that he liked her very much. So much so that he didn't care about her past, he only wanted to be with her. She did not love him, and was honest about it. She like him, but as a friend. She liked her company, but that was it. But Terence wouldn't see through it. He persisted. He made her believe that she would be happy only with him. And truth was he kept her very happy. Obliging to all that she wanted, never saying no, never turning her down, never disappointing her, ever. Her boyfriend back home could never make her so happy, she was not even half as happy with him as she was with Terence. But something told her to hold back, at least a little while. Kate's girlfriend had liked Terence a lot, so much she wanted to marry him. But Terence only had eyes for Kate, no one else.
They started dating only to see how things went. Kate found herself more happy than ever. But she couldn't shrug off her ex. He had arranged a meeting for their parents to discuss marriage without her consent. And both parents had agreed. She felt as if a punch had been blown into her chest. She clearly wanted more time with her ex. Theirs was a long distance relationship now, and things like these were not helpful at all. She felt betrayed by her ex and largely by her mother who had chosen to believe him more than she ought to. Circumstances like these pushed her more towards the company of Terence, because he was the one who was willing to listen to all she had to say, to try and understand her point of view.
Maybe Terence really did love her. Maybe he really was willing to wait and to accept her wholeheartedly. But was this a deal of a lifetime? They came from different backgrounds. They had no common friends except that one girlfriend. Did she really know him well to trust her with her life? Only time would tell.
Love does not mean looking at each other, it means looking together in the same direction
