Malware detected!

drmana
By drmana

Whenever I open few threads here, I get the warning
"Warning: Visiting this site may harm your computer!
The website at www.qatarliving.com contains elements from the site iloveqatar.net, which appears to host malware – software that can hurt your computer or otherwise operate without your consent. Just visiting a site that contains malware can infect your computer"

What does it mean? How to solve this?

The problem seems to be fixed now as the threads which were showing the alert including this one shows no such alert now.

Thanks everyone.

Thats why i said its a temp fix you may want to do to avoid the annoyance of that message. We know its not really an attack from either site.

smoke, if we do that, our system is no longer protected from online viruses. that's just lessening the security.

QL admin/mods nowhere related to this.

It's about the site that u r visiting and the Anti virus Software/Spyware doc that u r using for ur machine.

It seems, drmana already have proper anti virus mechanism for her machine. that's why she gets this alarm.

a temp fix you can do as of now is disable the option to detect malware on your browser. In firefox its under the security tab...as "Block reported attack sites" just uncheck it..worked for me.

from my own experience, this is the first time I heard of that warning popping up. And I use several different machines (friends included) to access QL.

If it was a pop up window maybe it's an add (addware which in the end is like a Virus) and is already residing in your equipment.

Anyways contact the Admin/Mods they might be able to help more than us.

Regards!!

drmana don't do any of the above. There is no problem with your system.

got norton 360 v4... it's fixing all malwares and spywares, beside it also shows the name of those...esp. if the risk is high.

Sometimes free downloadable anti-virus is the malware/spyware itself.

There is some problem with iloveqatar website, some users have signatures created using iloveqatar so when they post on a thread, the same problem starts on Qatarliving threads as well. That is the issue and once the iloveqatar problem is sorted out, the QL problem will disappear too.

Malware (also: scumware), short for malicious software, is software designed to secretly access a computer system without the owner's informed consent. The expression is a general term used by computer professionals to mean a variety of forms of hostile, intrusive, or annoying software or program code.[1] The term "computer virus" is sometimes used as a catch-all phrase to include all types of malware, including true viruses.

Download anti malware software

Best software to install is SPYWARE DOCTOR or SPY DOCTOR. it will detect all spyware/malware/adware on your computer and heal/delete all.

Hi there guys

I've already looked into this.

Basically google detected an attempt to harm our servers while upgrading our servers.

The site is clean and google will be removing the notice shortly.
