This is a strange one. He was arrested when "leaving" the country. Surely, if the gold belonged to him, then he can carry it as he wishes ? Yes or no ?

Sharjah Police has arrested an a man for concealing eight 24-carat gold bars inside his body in an attempt to evade import duty in India.

QUM was caught at Sharjah International Airport. Each gold bar weighed 10 grammes. Customs officers at the Sharjah airport nabbed the suspect while he was trying to exit the country.

The traveller put his life at risk by concealing the gold bars inside his body, police said.

Did he not realise that 80 grams of solid metal would set off the metal detectors in the airport? He can't have been that stupid??

If that was possible to place those bars there then where was the risk ? After all it was for 3 hours time only ....

Practice can make many tasks easier ....

The way Indians are buying, carrying, taking and hoarding gold does not give the impression that India is a poor country at all. I suppose they just don't like to make a show of all their wealth.

The gold bars were INSIDE his body.. He would have carried them in his pockets or in his hand baggage with receipts.
