Hope it teaches a good LESSON to other aspiring cricketers who wants to foray into the world of CRICKET..

Not just the poor background, its the age too. 18 or 19 years is too tender in terms of life experience. And at that age you want to please everyone, so you end up doing stupid things.

By the time you are 30, life has knocked some sense into you.

By soniya• 6 Sep 2010 14:44

Ice, exactly...May be their poor background plays a havoc in their career and life...

Pakistan do some brilliant players. Wasim, Imran they were such a treat to watch. Aamir was doing good ...till now.

Maybe some kind of counselling might help....all these young minds, generally coming from less priveleged background, sudden exposure to fame and fortune....some can't handle it very well.

By Ice Maiden• 6 Sep 2010 14:28

Who knows what happens there too.....when money comes in, people change.

but when they do play as bad as 'school boys', who's to know if they were paid to do so?

That's what will spoil the game, if Pakistan continue to play cricket!!!

Cricket will be the loser if Pakistan is banned from cricket. No other country provides as much excitement as them. Brilliant and ridiculous in the space of a few overs. Shoaib Akhtar was a star earlier today with the ball and then fielded worse than a schoolboy, you only get that from the Pakistanis.

By Bunnyhug• 5 Sep 2010 20:59

Just Pakistan.

Why should the rest of the cricket loving World suffer?

By Ice Maiden• 5 Sep 2010 13:37
Ice Maiden

Please don't discuss this anymore.

All the years I wasted watching cricket, getting my bp and heartbeat up, screaming, yelling and supporting my favourite stars,......all to nought. Don't depress me anymore.

Just ban the whole damn game.

Had sufficient evidence to charge players - Lorgat

September 3, 2010

Haroon Lorgat, the ICC's chief executive, spoke to Cricinfo on the process that led to the suspension of the three Pakistan players linked to the spot-fixing allegations during the Lord's Test.

Haroon Lorgat: "I would not like to pre-determine their guilt nor pre-determine what sanctions are appropriate. We would not tolerate any kind of corruption in this sport."

Is this the biggest scandal cricket has faced since the Hansie Cronje revelations?

In terms of corruption, yes. Corruption is a dangerous thing, any form of it.

The charges are corruption and spot fixing; guilty should get life time ban.

Butt, Asif and Amir dropped for rest of tour

Cricinfo staff,

September 2, 2010

Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir, the three Pakistan players who are at the centre of the spot-fixing controversy have been dropped for the limited-overs leg of the England tour, according to team manager Yawar Saeed. He said they had not, however, been suspended.

He gave statement that 50,000 pound (66 laks PRs) found in his room were for shopping for his sister.

Another angle as per former coach Geoff Lawson "It would not surprise me if illegal bookmakers have told players that if they do not perform X and Y, their families will be kidnapped or harmed.

Killing of earlier coach Bob Woolmer is still a mystery. It was thought that he discovered too much about the fixing.

We hope the famous Scotland Yard investigations are brought to light soon as poor donkeys are being tortured in pakistan streets & PCB chairman Butt's Butt is in line of fire or in line of kicks and kick-backs.

There is a history of cheating in the Pakistan Cricket team going back years.

But as pakman says, in this case, the three incidents are the proof!!!

But you are right, lets hope this time around maximum punishment is given, where it is deserved, to protect the future of the game, especially in Pakistan!!

By anonymous• 30 Aug 2010 22:08

Too many good famous people, not fair on them.

It is just a bad reflection of the individuals concerned. Probably more like greed.

I wonder if these cheats are donating their ill gotten gains to the flood victims? Or do they just expect the good people of other countries, including Qatar, to donate?

but i've sympathy with rising fast bowler Aamir, rest are of no worth, they must be banned if feel guilty.

By Bunnyhug• 30 Aug 2010 19:15

They are called 'spot bets' where as you can bet on a particular ball being a 'no ball' and other such minor happenings. Can do same in football, like betting on the precise minute a team will score etc. Can make a lot of money if you knew in advance!!!!

Anyway, these Pakistani players are cheats, not cricketers!!! We've been here before.
