Medical Question
I know someone back in my country, used to be my loved one. We haven't talked and seen each other since 2004. I recently saw her picture from my friend's Facebook. She was in the hospital and had a surgery on her left leg. It was removed or cut but i dont know why.
I noticed the picture that she was in a Heart Center (Hospital) because of the beddings in her room.
What could possibly be the problem why it has to be removed. what heart complication would it be? :( was there any connection of the heart illness and her leg?
I'm so sorry for TT. i was teary eyed when i saw her pictures. It happened around February this year and turned 25 last March 1. What a sad birthday gift for her and the family. Now, she's undergoing physical therapy to adjust with the surgery. She's also a Registered Nurse.
Medical Doctors in QL, please respond. Thanks.

Im not sure but would you consider Buerger dse? well Im definite that it causes gangrene formations in the phalanges but I dont know if in severe form that it might also affect the extremities.. Well.. its a dse caused by blood CLOTS in the arteries and veins which might endanger the patient for possible dislodge of these clots.. I dont know.. we need more informations^^
Very rare disease.

NKOTB, diabetes can cause heart disease and other illnesses.

maybe atherosclerosis.. did you consider asking her directly?
if it's diabetes, why would she be confined in the Heart Center?
At first i thought it was Diabetes also. her last email she mentioned she was diagnoses with heart disease she said.
or a bad case of varicose veins was the reason for the amputation, a severely clogged vein in the lower extremities can cause a lot of complications which may sometimes lead to amputation.

Check this out, though I am not sure if it requires surgery.
agree with Alexa.. of course, physicians as well as patients consider amputation as a last resort, when all else fails.. maybe that was the case with her..
