The points are nothing but an indicator that might be right or wrong about how active this user is on QL. Nothing to be compared with others, because it is not necessary that the higher the points, the higher the value of your posts or how would it be in a help to other QL members. We are here just to have fun, help each other as much as we can and the points as you said mean nothing to us :)

There is one purpose they serve, though, and that is the Managers of the Social Groups can tell (from the number of 'posts'(points) someone has made and the length of time someone has been a member of QL) whether or not to allow that person to join their group and join in Group events/gatherings off the internet. The points show whether someone is serious about being a part of QL community.
We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors; but they all have to learn to live in the same box.
