Message to Mods - use your common sense

My Forum Topic was posted in Working in Qatar / Opportunities and was a notice about an opportunity for UK (City & Guilds) qualified hair stylists to work in Qatar.

What was it about the topic that did not relate to working in Qatar or an opportunity?

... although half the receipts we have received for goods or services definitely call it a Saloon.

It's on Al Waab Street, about 450 metres from the Teyseer petrol station (heading towards Al Saad).

It's not open yet - just today my wife got another set of demands from the Ministry of Labour, so it looks like another 2 weeks.

No worries about infections though, she has sterilizers all over the place. Apparently there is a different streilizer for each of the tretments that she is offering. Who knew?

As for service levels - my wife is one of the biggest complainers at bad service (one of the reasons she wanted to open her own place after being disappointed in so many salons in Doha) so if anyone does get bad service in there she will be mortified.

Anyway, it's called Nara Salon and if you are driving past and see a red Hummer H3 in the driveway, my wife is in. Feel free to ring the bell and have a look around, it will give her a boost to know that there is some interest in the place.

Thanks!

everytime I hear the word Saloon, I expect an old wild western bar to pop out at me;-P

Doha Steve, I' d be very happy if you could send me a pm with name and location of bespoke beauty salon.....as I am still looking for one where I do not get infections, inadequate service etc.

Thank you.

Oh, and it is a Salon, not a Saloon, right??? (please tell me it is a salon!!!)

I appreciate your support, but I think this one is a dead duck.

No point in me angering the gods of QL. It's anybody's guess what might happen.

I could end up with someobody wagging their finger at me in a mildly threatening manner, and that would be just too horrendous to bear ;-)

Thanks again

DohaSteve has been a QL members for more than 3 years now and its seldom that he posts. And now that he's posting...and his topic gets deleted WITHOUT EXPLANATION... he gets pissed...

He reposted the topic...and I read it.

Technically, it should be in the CLASSIFIEDs...i AGREE but deleting it again with "LAST WARNING" note...isn't it quite OVER THE TOP?

Reply to his PM why it got deleted instead of using the "YOU'LL GET BANNED from the website" whiplash...

Like I said...I'm a nobody here...and my opinion MAY NOT MATTER TO YOU (out of more than 1,000,000 QLers registered here)...but DOHA STEVE got a point, you know.

Yes, I would say that to someone in real life if they were behaving in the same way as you are.

I posted in a legitimate Forum area and yes, they may be a difference of opinion regarding whether my post may have been more effective in the area I posted it in, or in Classifieds.

However, and this is my point, there was no reason for the post to be deleted.

As I said previously; if you don't want that particular area of the forum used, then delete it entirely.

Then there won't be a problem.

And we will all be happy.

Relatively speaking.

ex.ex.expat - thanks for the warning, if I disappear suddenly, tell my wife and children I loved them.

some of the mods are pretty thin-skinned and don't handle criticism well. You may find yourself banned :(

[Mod's note: Think before you post! Ask yourself if this is something you would say to someone in real life.]

Automated replies are about as useful as underwater hair driers.

I tried it anyway. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I'm also going to replicate my original post in the same place. Just to see what happens.

if you use the contact form, you will get an automated reply. Thats it end of the story....

we have shortage of it in QL.

Lol DohaSteve you're right.

Might be more effective, though, to use the Contact form to bring this to their attention, rather than add it to the neverending list of whining posts about how QL sucks and mods are stupid.

And personally, I still would have posted it in Classifieds.

:)

... after all, debate is one of the cornerstones of democracy.

We ARE living in a democracy, aren't we?

By DohaSteve• 8 Oct 2010 22:52

called "Working in Qatar", with a secondary area called "Opportunities"

If the Mods or site owner don't want people to post forum topics in there about an opportunity for people to work in Qatar, they should delete it.

By DohaSteve• 8 Oct 2010 22:49
DohaSteve

.... and also, I would rather have the discussion here and give other QL'ers the opportunity to comment

By chocoholic• 8 Oct 2010 22:49

Dohasteve, "common sense" tells me that should have been posted in the Classifieds, as that's where people would generally look for job opportunities.

By DohaSteve• 8 Oct 2010 22:47

... and I really wouldn't lose any sleep over why there are two legitimate areas to post the same thing.

I am, though p****d off that some anonymous web flunkie can arbitrarily delete my post and not have the decency to explain themselves.

I hope it's not a case of "I vos only obeying mein orders" or Qatar Living is doomed

Why have two forums that meet the requirements?

By DohaSteve• 8 Oct 2010 22:38
DohaSteve

They were quick enough to delete my completely legitimate post, but noticeably silent when asked to explain their reasoning.

It would be nothing more than common courtesy.

By DohaSteve• 8 Oct 2010 22:21
DohaSteve

... but as the Forum area exists, why not put it in there?

It's probably a moot point now as this forum topic will most likely also be deleted ....

.... who moderates the Mods?

but still it's "Working in Qatar / Opportunities" so i think it fits ..

it doesn't really have to be in the classified..

you could have put it in the classifieds. simple....
