Michael Schumacher will race no more after the end of this F1 season.
Great driver, great loss.

Perhaps you can explain why your hostility against me... where is it exactly i "put words in your mouth"?

Is it not right for me to state my opinion on this subject?

please don't put words in my mouth. i never said anything about their personas or their struggles through life. all i said is that it got a bit boring with both schumacher and armstrong reclaiming their titles time and time again. it killed the suspense out of their sports. Not that i was expecting them to lose on purpose or anything..

The only comparison between Lance and Schumi is how high they have set the bar in their sport. Other than that its two worlds apart.

Lance besides from a great athlete has shown such a great human persona, striving against (and defeating) cancer. He just seems such a likeable guy. The ads he is making for his bike team on Discovery channel are just hilarious.

On the other hand, imagine what the reaction would be if Schumacher invited Rubens Barrichelo (or any other of his teammates) for a night out in town :)

He won 90 races and 7 world titles.

That is an achievement. He is also only 2 points behind Alonso so he can still win this championship.

Can't blame him if he was a winner so many times and the outcome was expected. Happens in all sports. Remember the times when John McEnroe, Martina Navratilova and Pete Sampras won everything all the time. Or Tiger Woods.

His urge to win was his achilles heel too. He never had the magananimity of a true champion which is why I enjoyed watching but was never in awe of him.

A chapter has closed.

M. Schumacher is the reason why I stopped watching F1. It was like watching the race being won by a robot over and over.

I didnt support Michael, however, he will be remembered as one of the legends. The only problem with him is that he is too arrogant and he showed that this year in Monaco when he drove into the wall on purpose to slow down Alonso, so that he could qualify ahead of him.

"sidewinder" - I agree. Would have loved to see him retire couple of seasons back.

i honestly think it's about bloody time that he did. he really hasn't made much contributions to the sport in a while..

Yes a loss indeed, but then again the guy made his money made his name and set records... too bad he did not retire with the world title in his hands....
