Three monkeys sat on a coconut tree,

Discussing things as they're said to be;

Said one to the others "Now listen, you two

There's a certain rumour that can't be true

That man descended from our noble race:

The very idea is a big disgrace.

No monkey ever deserted his wife

Staved her babies and ruined her life;

And you've never known a mother-monk

To leave her babies with others to bunk,

Or pass them on from one to another

Till they scarcely know who was their mother;

And another thing you'll never see

A monk building a fence around a coconut tree

And let the coconuts go to waste

Forbidding all other monks to taste;

Why, if I'd put a fence round the tree

Starvation would force you to steal from me;

Here's another thing a monk won't do

Go out at night and get on the stew

Or use a gun or club or knife

To take some other monkey's life.

Yes, man DESCENDED - with all his fuss,

But, brothers, he didn't descent from US!"

Damn I was gone for a few hours to come back to a high school fight deja vu. When someone bullies u, u don't go a cry to an administrator, or get all pissed off and decide to complain or quit QL. What u do is joke back, sit back, and enjoy the laugh. We're all grown up here and noone is targeting anyone, we're just here to enjoy the conversations and laughs.

Ok back to Maddie. It always seems to happen. That a single story is so emphasized, yet other stories are not even heard of. Like thousands of children in africa and asia who are abused, enslaved, used in prostitution, and even starved to death. I really hope they find Maddie and I hope her parents have learnt the lesson. I also hope this case doesn't only give awareness for parents to be more careful but also an awareness of how abused children are in many places around the world, for those voices go unheard.

The problem with the whole Maddie thing is over exposure. I for one have received a message about this girl every 2nd day since she went missing! I hate to say it but it's starting to drive me bonkers. What's going to happen is that if someone actually does see her they will think they are imagining it because they've seen her picture too many times, or they will be afraid of the spotlight and not do anything about it.

respect to all of QL members, there are things that we can joke about it and there are things that we can't even think about joking about it.

This topic is one of the things that we should not and I can't imagine how terrible her parents are feeling now. Let god be with them and with all of the parents who lost their children and still look for them or quit because they are already dead.

I can't imagine the sleepless nights or the tears that those two shed looking for their own kid. Some of you are already a mother of a father and know how hard should this be, if your child was late for sometime outside you will be anxious. If he/she hurts him/herself you would be rushing to the nearest hospital. How about you wake up to find that your children went missing and have no clue what happened?

Some would say that what can we do, she did not get lost here. That might be true,but at least show some sympathy and respect for every parents feeling. I know that we can't change that, but at least we can try to stop seeing such sad stories day after day. For the sake of those children who are lost .. for the sake of my and your children too. We don't have children now, but in the future we might have. Do you want something like that to happen to them? I don't think so .. if you don't know their value now ... you will know about it later when you become a mother or a father.

Azzy, that was really so sad and the problem is .. sometimes the children have no idea about the sacrifices that their parents have made. They don't have an idea that if they do such a thing, it might be the end of one of their parents too. They don't know that when their parents are far away from them that the relation get even stronger .. they think that our parents are forgetting about us their and are enjoying their time. They don't know how miserable our life without them .. thinking of them all the time .. being far away for their own sake and to give them a better future. Hope that you are fine now, she is fine too and that she realizes that what she did was extremely wrong.

Best Regards

Like i said, my daughter eventually came home when she found out that I'm already sick of worrying about her...That's why when all my sponsorship transfer thingy is finally completed, I'll be going home for a brief vacation to see my kids...

My prayers are with Maddie's parents.

Each day when I get my newspaper first thing I do is to read about Maddy. Even my 11 yrs old keeps asking regularly about that unfortunate lil girl. Whenever I read stories about countries which are called as paedophile capitals of the world, I just don't understand what mentality those people are having. Not only this girl, many more children become their prey every day. How can you call them human beings? I even cant call them animals, animals never do such a heinous act.

God bless Maddy.

That is so sad, i hope your daughter is ok and safe. Im so glad you have your daughter back with u, u definatley must know what the poor parents of Maddie are going through right now. We should just pray for all the parents in the world who have children or loved ones missing.

Wherever you are, you can never be sure you and your family is safe nowadays.

For a brief period of time, i felt how to lose a child. My daughter ran away from home last month and for one whole week, I have no information where she was. It was the most horrendous, tormenting week of my life...couldn't eat, sleep, and I'm crying my eyes out thinking where was my girl, was she alright, who were with her and different horrible thoughts came to my mind making me sick as well.

As a mother, it was as if you've lost half of your life if you lose your child.

So, I hope Maddie could be found soon...and I hope all parents would learn from this unfortunate event.

By Oryx• 16 Jun 2007 14:55

i find it sad that so many children get abducted out of their homes in places like Uganda and forced to be soldiers and often harm their parents who haven't left their home to go out for a meal.

i find the global publicity askew and it saddens that whole nations of children aren't worth any media time and space.

the disappearnce of one child is tragic but it doesn't change society when it is done to communities it rips apart the whole fabric of that society and no-one mentions it.

I think like the other said "parent suffered enough about their carelessness! You can feel how guilty they are!

But of course, its a question, why on earth leave your child alone in the hotel?

Yes, i'd been following the news and it's a question how media, make it so big and how some people jumping into the issue and not being helpful instead giving non-sense speculations to both parents and the whole situation.

We all got speculations and doubts about the issue but we should focus with the child not to focus on blaming whoever we think responsible for losing her.

SAMYA, you air what concerns you and it's good, At least you did something to help MADDIE, unlike me I'm just watching and reading about her!

Cheers!

Personally I think the hundreds of children sold into sexual slavery in Asia is more distressing then one girl kidnapped in Europe. I mean, don't get me wrong, I feel sorry for the poor thing, but I hate when cases like this are blown out of proportion and create a state of paranoia.

I hope she is okay. The parents are both currently on a European awareness tour with indefinite leave from their jobs as doctors. Their pay is being covered by the public sector in the UK i.e the taxpayer.

They decided to go for a meal and leave their children on there own. I don't care if they went back every 5 minutes or every day. If you leave your kids alone in a hotel room you really shouldn't be allowed to have children in the first place.

My son is 6. Last night he have first sleep over in his friend house. We went for party in Garvey's, and i keep thinking how about if he climbed the stair's bannister and fall, how about if he ran out from the house and got run over who went to fast in the compound, how about if he hurt himself. You know ... typical mum silly worry.

So the letter was a bluff ... there is hope for Madeline still alive somewhere.

3 kids under 4????? What happened if they woke up and found the parents is not there??? What happened if the room on fire??? What happened if one of the choked???

Call me freak over protective mum ... but still ... i can understand leaving 3 young kids on their own in the hotel room in the strange country.

I guess you will only understand my feeling when you are a mum yourself.

I totally agree with you, they expressed how sorry they were for leaving Maddie in what they thought was a safe hotel resort, but even if someone snatching your child is the last thing on your mind, the fact that they are so young and could have had an accident is enough... The whole letter thing was nasty, someone wrote a letter with a map to show where she was burried but the police didnt find anything there... Its really shocking because a similar story with 2 sisters happend a while ago, they received a map but they founf the childrens bodies there... Really horrible :(

i might get slated for this ... but i do think the parents should not leave 3 kids under 5 on their own while they go out for dinner. Why don't they hire somebody from the hotel to stay with the kids so they can have dinner in peace?

i wonder how many parents out there did this (going out and left the kids without any adult with them) and get away with this?

i probably paranoid ... i only have 1 son ... and wherever we goes ... how safe the place we think it is ... now way whatsoever we will ever leave our son on his own in the hotel room.
