Why have you not closed the topics on christmas or moved them to the Religion forum like you do with the topics related to Islam?

you should have replied,"Its dangerous there but they treat me well because I volunteered for jihaad"

May be you would have been the first lady sent to Guantanamo Bay but its worth it, atleast we all would have had a good laugh about it...

Ice Maiden I get where you are coming from, there is a lot of 'biased media' that many people watch, and as a result they get a flawed or rather tarred overview of Islam and Muslims in general.

Vulgarity is the conduct of other people, just as falsehoods are the truths of other people.

Not my personal opinion,...

But in a lot of people's minds terrorism & Islam are linked.

A year after 9/11, I went on a trip to Canada. When a native there came to know I was from the Middle East(Qatar)she remarked "Isn't it dangerous living under the Taliban rule?". I was like "Excuse me"

It would help Muslims a lot if a stop could be put to the madcaps who use religion as an excuse to kill.

Lately one of the 'moderators' keeps removing my thread on the Islamic View of Terrorism which was an article posted from the Asia Times newspaper. The article is an interview given my an individual from beirut and he outlines the islamic view on terrorism.

I posted this in the Politics and Culture section but it has been removed...with a note to say that it should be posted in the religious teaching forum....

Its just that terrorism is the biggest story in current political discourse and Islams view on it with worth a mention. It is not a religious view but a poltical opinion which based upon the islamic rules...hence islam is more than a mere religion. It is an ideology.

Maybe there is another agenda being pushed...

Muslim topics seem to attract more criticism and angry debates between Muslims and Nonmuslims...

In many cases, the Islamic threads are posted by nonMuslims... and we know negative press about Islam is abundant and its also true that some of the times, the criticism is warranted

But on the other hand, Muslims generally keep away from Nonmuslim religious threads so you don't see as much disagreement or dis-accord

The Arabic translations are so short. Now I believe the whole world could save a lot of time if they conducted the meetings in Arabic. And all the books would be half the size if they were written in Arabic!

And a lot of paper(trees) could be saved like that.

A little bit of e-bashing is not detrimental to your health!

Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed,

83:29

And wink one to another when they passed them;

83:30

And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jetting;

83:31

And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray.

83:32

Yet they were not sent as guardians over them.

83:33

This day it is those who believe who have the laugh of disbelievers,

why moderators delet congratulations of Islamic occation and leave those chrestianes?!!!

Why they delet Islamic topics or move them and keep chrestian topics?!!!!.

I agree with you Maza

those should be moved to religion section

And moderator should treats religion equally

We believe that Jesus (a profet not a god) was born in summer

Qura'an includes chapters and soura's about Jesus and his mother Mariam

No Muslim become a Muslim without believing on them

The only different between our believes and yours that you think that Jesus is a god or sun of God. While we believe he is a profit.

There is only one God.

I think Maza is right in what he said and it is more of an observation than a demand, those threads in my opinion belong in the Religious section...

There is nothing wrong with a thread being moved to the religious section or for asking a thread to be moved to that section... its not a dirty place...

Its just that when an Islamic subject is opened, there are people who jump on to it and demand it to be moved to the Religious section and we Muslim posters have gotten used to it

So much so that its taken for granted that all Muslim topics belong to the religious section

But apparently, we've all forgotten that even Christian threads belong there...

I don't see why so many of the other posters need be so intimidated... food for thought...

Although I agree with Maza that it is really a religious festival, moving it to the religious section of QL is debatable!

Christmas, though I am not a Christian.

I never found anything "religious" in it, all my friends used to celebrate it as a "secular" one

By verisimilitude• 25 Dec 2009 17:12
verisimilitude

Those threads ought to be in the 'religion' category...

If it were just a 'Merry Christmas' thread, I would have said differently, but evidently... the theme of the three threads you have submitted are...

A History of Carols and its relation to the Church...

When to go to Church (if at all)...

Christmas and Christianity : an introspection...

So... yep I agree...

Can you be more specific... which thread would you think constitutes a Religious thread...?

By Maza• 25 Dec 2009 16:47
Maza

My post was related to those posting about christmas carols, going to church / mass etc. (Every mothers _n said that "christmas is not a religion" but no-one said it was but it is a religious topic...now how dumb are you? That is why there is a religious section in QL).

For those who think christmas is not a christian festival then please read the following from wiki (that is if you can read):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christmas

"Christmas[2] or Christmas Day[3][4] is an annual holiday that, in Christianity, commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ.[5][6] It is celebrated on December 25, but this date is not known to be Jesus' actual birthday, and may have initially been chosen to correspond with either the day exactly nine months after some early Christians believed Jesus had been conceived,[7] a historical Roman festival,[8] or the date of the northern hemisphere's winter solstice.[9] Christmas is central to the Christmas and holiday season, and in Christianity marks the beginning of the larger season of Christmastide, which lasts twelve days.[10]..."

Yes christmas (as with christianity in general today)is mixed with pagan and secular traditions and that even though some non -christians celebrate the day for reasons other than its religious elements; all of this does not nullify the fact that the festival is an intrical part of the christian faith or the fact christians celebrate it globally.

There should be a consistent rule for all.

Keeping the level of tolerancy for each other faith is very important to progress and be acceptable to the world community. The terminology christmas has nothing to do with extremism. Its part of a season greetings to all especially with its true meaning of peace to all. Don't worry too much as this will come to past after today.....Shalom
