Safety tips to avoid summer fires
As the summer heat soars high, the frequency of fire incidents also increase. The types of fires vary between electric fires, vehicle fires and fires at garbage dump due to improper ashing of cigarettes.
Most of the time, these fires are caused by negligence, high temperatures and lack of knowledge and understanding of preventive measures.
Here are some important tips to avoid summer fires:
A/C at home or office
Air conditioners that are operating continuously in a dusty environment can cause fires because the dust can settle over electrical components such as capacitors and cause tracking faults.
Running all the air conditioners at the same time and for longer periods will cause overload and generate excess heat causing fire.
Bad wiring at homes or in electrical appliances
Cracked or loose wiring or electrical problems, oil or fluid leaks, rapid changes in fuel or fluid level, or engine temperature are danger signs indicating a risk of fire on vehicle.
Lack of quality electrical wiring in some homes leads to easy damage to them leading to electric fire. Ensure the safety of energy sources at home especially that of gas cylinders. Close them properly and ensure there is no leakage. Gas fires are considered as the most dangerous types of fires.
Keep children away from power sources at home. Avoid low quality electrical appliances and use good quality wiring cables.
Avoid running exhaust fans for long time. As well clean them regularly not to cause fire. Avoid overloading outlets. Plug only one high-wattage appliance into each receptacle outlet at a time.
Cars
Most car fluids are flammable. Heat and electrical sparks plus leaking fluid are all it takes to start a car fire. Have your car serviced regularly by a professionally trained mechanic. A well-maintained car is less likely to have a fire. Maintain vehicle battery and ensure proper electrical wiring.
Learn how to use an extinguisher
Ensure valid fire extinguishers at homes and in cars and learn how to use them properly. In a case of emergency, it will be a life-saving 'skill' and knowledge.

Useful information. I want to add onething, When the car is parked/ being waiting for something, they can swith off the engine/AC or slow down the flow of AC, since the car when it is not in running, the radiator cant provide enough cooling to engine so, the engine is getting more hot than while running. Many people are doing so. This can be avoided.

make sure to switch off all appliances when you leave your house. especially ac and exhaust fans. fires at your absence may be catastrophic, but fire detected may be controlled easily. put LPG cylinders in well ventilated areas, avoid them getting exposed to sunlight or heat. make sure to turn off the regulators at night. switch off all unused sockets. ensure you leave at least 20% space in your tank each time when you visit a petrol station, especially if you park directly under the sun.
