drsam - Those people interviewed are nothing to do with QL

Yes, someone can take something you wrote and use it, and say that you said it.

By drsam• 25 Jul 2009 11:47

the people "interviewed" were they the same with the same quotations as those in the thread?

if yes, is it allowed to post one comment without permission?

my question is: if i wrote something on QL can someone use it and say sam said this and that in another place?

By anonymous• 25 Jul 2009 11:30

If something is lifted directly without attribution, it would be considered plagiarism.

If someone took an idea, did some work on it and the wrote a story, I don't see harm. Of course, the respectable thing to do would be to cite where the idea came from.

was posted at many places. But before that I had received messages from people asking for permission. The story was Strange Light over Doha yesterday ;0

You may think that is drastic..but while I was in Alaska the license plate at the time had a grizzly bear standing up facing forward...some women started to place little circular stickers over the crotch of the bear because they found it indecent.

They discontinued the plate the in 1981.

It's so simple to be wise. Just think of something stupid to say and say the opposite

By drsam• 25 Jul 2009 10:38

or something like this?

can a journalist take threads from a source and post it without

1- permission

2- mentioning the source

2- taking the approval of the persons cited?

so next, i will have my comment in QL posted in a magazine (or rather, a tabloid in this cae) without my permission?

Hang on, are you saying that the newspaper took comments that people had made on QL and published them? And used the descriptions of their nationalities from the user profiles? Or am I completely off?

I have been researching the internet about a good school to put my kids to in Doha (will be moving to Qatar in Sept) and I came across Doha Montessori and British School and International School of London in Qatar. I would appreciate guys if you would be able to give me some honest opinion/information for both schools. Cheers...

I'm working to a very tight timescale on my project. Maybe I should just take Dubal's plant and move it to the Qatalum site.

The means does not justify the ends.

In Saudi, I noticed an article in the Arab News regarding cars, which had been copied straight from a Car magazine I had read a few months previous..

I wrote to the editor complaining. His reply - sometimes the journalists are working to very short time scales and may "use" stories to fill the pages..

This episode shows that perhaps the writer has used the QL forum to pick his topics. More importantly, it shows the quality of the journalists in Qatar and perhaps The Gulf in general..

The point being that "journalists" here in Qatar have no mind of their own and seem to trawl QL looking for their next thing to write about!

The story of the Filipino advisory notice was in the papers yesterday or the day before. This is a follow up I guess, perhaps inspired by the QL thread.

Hrrrrrrrmph ...............Hrrrrrrrrrrrrrmphh..

Let QL take the lead in this campaign..I suggest creating small adhesive stickers with the simple message "I Must Dress Sensibly".

QLVG can then take these sticker and place them on teh persons of individuals not adhereing to the expected dress code..
