Moving to Qatar in October

What type of furniture stores are over in Qatar...how expensive is furniture compared to the United States. I was told that we should bring sheet sets because it is hard to find a proper fit for your bed in Qatar. Basically worried about shopping for all the things we need to set up house.

This must be your first post outside the US. All countries have their quirks, and bed linens are one. Don't fight it, just bring them if you want nice bedding. We are in the UK prestently, and are moving to Doha in November and that's the first thing on my bring list, after face clothes.

We work for KBR and look forward to getting to know some home folks, you'll find most expats are very welcoming.

Good look

I find that so funny! Why is there such a problem finding fitted sheets. This is not a huge "NEW" invention. So are the beds usually euro sizes or american sizes. My wife is an interior designer so she is having a fit over this...she wonders what size to buy!

Canuk is definitey right about the fitted sheets...but, the mattresses aren't exactly the same size as in the States, so if you know someone in your company who will have access to your housing, ask them to measure the mattresses so that you know what size to bring. If you are going to go to the trouble of bringing sheets, you want to make sure they will fit!

Most accomodation that you find is furnished. There are tonnes of local furniture shops and I am sure you can find cheap furniture if your accomodation is not furnished.

They are right about the sheets! Bring fitted sheets!!! They are next to impossible to find. They aren't very common here.

Otherwise you can find most every thing, just may have to pay a bit more.
