Musical keyboard Selection
Can anyone please assist me in selecting/recommending a suitable musical keyboard for my 8 year old. She has not played a keyboard before and needs to start with a keyboard from which she can progress towards playing the piano. I have been informed to buy a keyboard with weighted keys which apparently are heavier and therefore, progression to the piano is made easier. I have seen the Casio brand at approx. 550 QAR, will this price range keyboard do the trick? My knowledge of music is limited to listening only!!
Thanks

..if you purchase YAMAHA...
a little more than 600 Riyals for a keyboard with weighted keys. The brand is really irrelevant cause if it has midi outs and midi control someday she or you will figure out how to hook it up to a pc and use vst synths. Really, I'd suggest getting an 88 key HAMMER ACTION midi controller and just hook it up to a computer and run some VST piano emulations. It might cost a bit but you won't have to deal with upgrades later.
Hi there,
Yes it is important to buy a weighted keys Synth/Keyboard, this can emulate the action of a Piano. Your daughter can learn Piano and practice on a Weighted Keys Keyboard.
Yamaha is a good choice, if you feel Yamaha is gonna be expensive you can opt for Casio.
It is impotant to buy a suitable stand and a piano seat.
YAMAHA KEYBOARD IS BETTER THAN CASIO.I HAVE EXPERIENCE.ITS COST IS QR.575.IF YOU BUY YAMAHA YOU CAN USE IT FOR LONG TIME.NO NEED TO CHANGE.
Have you ask the one in International Music Centre?
Thanks for your comments, you guys have made me change my course of action, i was going to buy a keyboard, i think i will search fo a piano tutor instead. Does anyone know of a good tutor?
i learnt piano for 12 years. My piano teacher back home always tell me once you learnt piano, you will find it learning keyboard as a piece of cake.
But if you start up with learning keyboard you would struggle going to piano.
I dont know how serious your daughter want to learn, but maybe worth to try her out with the proper piano lesson and see what she think.
Good luck.
xx
As Far I'm Producer i can tell you Casio is good tools to start with but if you get her to paino lessons will be much better for her by the end of the course she will learn alot and ready to have her first Keyboard!
I remember back in the 80's when first heard electronic music I knew back then this legal computer sound what’s going to be my soul.
