My company uses 90% pirated software and...
Hi there,
I'm fed up by the kind of people my company is made out off. They mock, shouts, criticize and are racists on the job of every Filipino in my company. I am thinking of telling the authorities the illegalities that they are doing. Some are housing all employees in one villa together male and female in one house and Using 90% Pirated software like Windows, Office, Photoshop and AutoCAD.
What do you think? Should I tell them to the authorities? I’m a bit concerned about this issue because I am the IT manager in this company again and again did I notify them that they should purchase legitimate software, thus I fail repeatedly. My fellow Filipino workers agree it is time for them to be punished...
I would suggest you to drop a note to organisations who own the product(s) what your organisation is using illegally. Every product orgnisation has seprate compliance group those are responsible for making audit in the suspected organizations, these departments also have revenue target to meet via compliance. It will take sometime because they will forwards your note to respective regions Qatar belongs to and reqeuest the department to perform audit in your organisation.
You just drop a note and let them do their job. I have worked a compliance leader in an organization and generated USD 7 Million in a year from compliance.
all the best.
crisostomo your replys are weird as you.. what stupid advice. remember the threads are in ENGLISH not jungle talk ...
Power to the non believers, it’s a great feeling to have and hold.
CompNeigh don't point your finger unto them and your 3 fingers pointing back unto you... DON'T REPORT! it will give you more troubles... let the time will tell..... one thing you need to do, make a memo and let them signed that you did not allowed them to installed a pirated software in their pc's within your office premises and otherwise they will answer in times of trouble.... and then it will set you free instead. it's part of helping them... and share the consequencessssss
working abroad is a process of survival, do you think that if your co-worker is in your shoe he would think of your wellfare, i guess not, not here. in a battle for truth there will always be casualties.
If you are saying 90 %, does it mean there is still 10 % hope they do understand their position! And that's what you need to feel.
If you report, report not because you are angry but because you want a positive change! If it will result positively, fine, but as Amoud said, if it will bring more negative effects (in terms of job losses and problem to other employees), think again!
"Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship"
how can he be safe draj if he informs the authority, everybody's nose will be all over him if he does so. you only go to the authorities if you are ready to fight in court and have the means to support yourself during those trials. leave then report is the best way. yes you're right he will also be held responsible that's why he has to leave first before he makes any move. "don't let them catch you alive". by the time they realize that you were the one who told the authorities, you're already gone and they cannot make any counter moves against you. courage and stupidity are two different words
since you r IT manager and you are using pirated software then you also will be handcuffed if they raid ur comopany.. so better inform authority and make ur hand safe or go for genuine one...
Some company treat workers like slaves. They will use your knowledge, and skills just to produce later that they are the one who manage the byproduct of the task. They don't even recognize your effort for the good of the company. All they know is your mistakes, and that's all they want to see.
I am no against to anyone with a good and reputable companies, but i just wanted to point out the wrong doings of some or most of them, recking every human rights a worker has.
tama, magpalamig ka muna,,,,lahat ng bagay ay nagtatagumpay kapag ginawa mo sa tamang oras at sitwasyon.....ingat kapatid..
I agree with baldrick
Find another job, then report.
it is very difficult to find
A person who does not speak out against the wrong is a mute devil.
magandang suggestion yan cisostmo.
I have decided to report them on my last day of work maybe in a month or so...
Thank you for all of your inputs!
itik, ihipto, basta lahat na taga dito sa gitnang silangan ay iisa yan
the truth will set you free
nope they are not locals (qataris) they have the NILE with them if you know what I mean.
Its not my job Im worried about its the feeling of doing the right thing. I can find another job from other countries or do business back home easily. In this case I feel its time for the authorities to know the truth behind their illegalities.
I remember what they always say about us...
"Pilipini not qualified" - even thoug we are the only true work horse of the company
"filipinos are all bad" - his wife who also works for the company thought that whom she talking to is Malaysian, where in fact she also is a filipina. Idiot huh?
wag ka tumawag ng authorities, remember, kapag nag arabic na ang mga yan, nabaliktad ka na na di mo alam kaya advice ko parin report ka gamit ibang pangalan....nagawa ko na yan dati...even sa dyaryo dito nag sulat na ako ng artikolo tunkol sa reklamo ko about batas trapiko gamit ibang pangalan....nag post din ako sa internet tunkol sa dati kong kompanya....all i did was gumawa ako bagong email add tapos gumamit ako ibang pc sa capihan para di nila ma trace ang Ip add...
compneigh, you can immediately call authorities with regards to the shared accommodation of male & female employees. we all know that this is a BIG no-no. as for the pirated cds, you have to weigh this again and again. there is a chance that they will blame you for it.
usapa na...
remember that youre in qatar...they would still hear the side of their co-country men...you know what i mean....
-----mahirap kausap ang ibang lahi lalo na un mga nagmamarunong...they're sucks...-----
Who says I havent crisos? I have also been in the position that making such a complaint would put numerous other people out of work who are trying to support families back home.
He has been with the company 8 months, I am sure others have been there for years. Up to him if he feels he is confident enough to decide that he is doing everyone else a favor.

so what amoud if from the past years now only he realize that he needs to do something, maybe you haven't been in a shoe like compneigh's.
Im sorry if you get me wrong but Ive been only here for 8 months. =)
Will it help if I will do some kind of a notification letter about piracy that my boss will sign? In this letter I will enclose that I am not anymore liable if any related issue is filed againts them in this subject?
I cant help but think this is an instance of "eat them for breakfast before they eat you for lunch"
6 years and you said nothing, now you feel your job is at stake because they are letting people go (remember the global econimy crisis?).
Seems more revengful than anything, and more than you will be effected.

Its very easy to get them arrested...but then they will put the blame on you and say you installed all the software without their permission and in fact swindled the money given to buy original software......
Then you will not only have to spend their jail term or punishment but the court will also order you to pay them back the money they gave you to buy "original software".
So you first do your exit leave the country and then complain.
In fact Microsoft already have the number of pirated software that they have installed on their systems, telephone nos, computer address, motherboard-processor-videocard-Id, etc.
You have to contact Microsoft to complain....... they might help you.
I hope you have previously documented everything, etc. as above. Otherwise, you better put a lid on this as your bosses or their PAs might notice this thread and your days at the company will be numbered. If you don't have any evidence, it will be your word against theirs and the benefit of doubt will be given to top management.
Jail - depends on what dirt they have on you, if any.

Don't want no drama,
No, no drama, no, no, no, no drama
This is not a problem. Why? because they are kicking out people rapidly. 4 employees last month.
Because its been a trend in this company now that they kicking out employees that are againts them (people who work, and intelligent enough to follow the rules). I feel I am next in line very soon.
*mga hayop kasi mga katrabaho ko eh sa lahat ng lahi sila ang kinamumuhian
remember my friend, stay as anonymous as you can coz here, no matter how right you are, you're helpless when it comes to equal justice....pader yang babanggain mo.
I am not aftermy NOC though since this company refuses NOC in the beginning (6 years in a row).
If I were to report them can they, you know put me into jail or file a case againts me?
Yes, new law and announced on radio too. Hope you've documented everything and backed it up where no one but you/someone you trust has access. Time lines important to corroborate your witness. You're fed up but do not react emotionally/impulsively. If you have things documented, you have something solid to stand on. Good luck.
/If your company is sophisticated enough to learn from mistakes and move on, then you don't need another job but stay and ensure that things change for the better.
//But you still better have a backup plan.

REPORT IT, bali-an mo ng sungay ang mga yan
If you report them you may well put a lot of people out of work who need the money to survive.
I am not saying this is justification for maltreatment or stealing but I am saying that if you make such a decision you are making it for each and every person employed by this company. Best bet would be to find yourself another job.

I think there's a new law about piracy here in Doha, I saw it on a signage on my way to work. let it cool off first for a couple of months so they won't suspect you then report it anonymously using another identity..they should be penalize for their ilegalities..isumbong mo kay tulfo...
You should report them, but in all likelihood you'll be sacked and they'll refuse you an NOC.
yes! report to the authority kuya. youre company is STEALING!!!
Dagway ai!
I'd find your self another job first, then tell the authorities.
