My introduction

My name is Collin. 19 years old (20 next month)... I just moved here from Texas about a week ago. I'll be here for probably 2 years (could be many more) while I finish my bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. I'm living with my family while I am here.

Hobbies in Texas were mostly motorcycling, live music, skateboarding, videogames, fishing, kiteboarding/buggies, hiking, and other outdoorsy stuff

I'm also scuba certified, but never had much chance to use it. Something I want to correct here.

I'm interested in pretty much everything. I love outside stuff... the weather here is pretty similar to where I come from. College Station, Texas is about 1.5 hours from houston. It's not as hot, but much more humid than Qatar. Sweating and having the wind dry it off is a nice change. As long as I have some sunblock so my white butt doesn't burn off it's all good.

Things I have heard about that I am interested in doing here:
smoking shisha
scuba diving, wakeboarding, and other water sports
sandboarding (and other dune sports)
fishing
music shows (what do you generally hear around here?)

Currently I lack a mobile phone (house has a landline) and personal transportation. Should soon be driving a jeep around though. I'll be getting a phone soon too.

So what's up? what does everyone around here like to do?

I think the driving is awesome. That is, I like being able to drive really fast... but I don't like people running red lights, sudden stopping, and other not so courteous maneuvers.

hope i see ya around

Welcome to the great country of Qatar!

Now about that fast driving..be careful...road accidents are the leading cause of death here from what I understand, and after having driven here for a month..believe me..I can definitely understand why. Its the noncourteous driving maneuvers that will get you. Obviously it isn't done intentionally, but its still there. so, just be aware. Ohh yeah..and watch out for driving on the RIGHT hand side of BIG trucks in roundabout..they tip over from not controlling their speed. Of course the left isn't much better because then they squish you against the roundie curb...hmmm.doesn't leave much option does it! lol

Ya I know, rode my dad's GSX-R1000 for a week during spring break.

He recently got hit by a truck and almost died.

Was a weekend canyon carver back in the states, so high speed is second nature to me. If I get motorcycle here though, it's gonna be a track bike only. The fact you can't get full motorcycle coverage is just icing on the cake for that.

"I like being able to drive really fast... but I don't like people running red lights, sudden stopping, and other not so courteous maneuvers." your totally toast buddy. At least you might get a few dives in while you live here.

Driving here is reckless to a new level so get educated quickly on how to avoid the idiots on the road and not to become an idiot.
