New in Doha

Hi everybody! I have been reading this Forum for a last few months, and find this site very helpful (except of some junk once in a while....ha-ha), especially for new comers like myself. Now I decided to become a member as I am coming to Doha in a couple of weeks.
Right away first question: where can i rent a car and what aprox prices are? Later company will provide me with the car, so i need it untill i get all my documents done. By the way how long it may take - my documents?

oamonteiro - Karwa drivers are carefully tested and handpicked so that they understand honking is the only way to get around other cars. Hand picked grapes can go sour buy handpicked Karwa drivers are the sure thing.

Keep up the good work Karwa.

i thought grapes were the only thing that was hand picked

There are three sides to every argument: your side, my side and the right side

Karwa is the most orginized taxi service in the whole of middle east region. They use state of art communication system with brand new cars. Their drives are hand picked and trained for a very long time for them to understand and learn landmarks and places in qatar. You just have to call them or flag down the cab. They are at your service all the time.

Note this when you are calling Them.

call palced at 9.00am

You - can I have a taxi at 1.00m going to the City Center.

Operator - Sorry sir we are fully booked. wecan send you a taxi at the same time tomorrow.

Hi FashionGirl,

You won't have any sort of problem renting cars in Doha. There are dime-a-dozen good quality rent-a-car businesses. You will end up spending about 2000 QR pr month for a mid-size sedan and more if you like to drive flashy cars. You can even pickup the car right at the airport if you want to drive straight-away (do a web search for SIXT), but don't expect a good deal then though!

Simply don't worry about car rental in Doha. Take the plunge!

i am not sure wich car..i mean it doesn't really matter, as later the company will provide me with the car.. it's just for 1-2 months i think.. right?

In the airport their u can find, rent cars dealer, In thier u can do that, And they need ur Licence copy.

Which type of car u want, It starts daily 80 riyals to 500 riyal.

rental is dependent on how long, the civic I rented is abt 1800QR per month,

the place of rental is near Ramada Hotel.

Price dependent on type of car

they really check the car for scratches and damage when u return the car so make sure u take photos of the car when u accept

when the rented the car to me the tank was empty, so u have to fill up yr self

international driving licence is required and passport, the axcess is 2000QR

there is a page for rental of cars , someone posted the daily rates.

welcome to doha , dont worry having rent a car in doha it is like getting vegetables in the market. but i suggest u to get your own car its very cheap, just for 15000 u can afford a luxerious car,u can visit Bn Eid car showroom in Shalwa road just in front of DHL office,to reach there u can hire a karwa taxi which cost only about 15 qr from airport to DHL,i think it is a good suggestion for you.

By jauntie• 23 Aug 2007 16:47

better still, get your company's driver or another employee to pick you up, which I imagine is what will happen, right?

By jauntie• 23 Aug 2007 16:46

"Right away first question: where can i rent a car and what aprox prices are? Later company will provide me with the car"

And ever since you have all been giving her directions as to how to DRIVE to get a rented car. Sheesh.
