Could do with Liverpool putting a few past Everton because, selfishly, the Toffees are more likely to be in the relegation scrap with my Wolves.

Our goal difference is shoddy, Liverpool will start climbing the table so...

That said, would be useful if we started being in control of our own destiny, rather than relying on the results around us.

My personal fave of McCarthys is.....well, this one

but IF SWEARING OFFENDS YOU, DON'T CLICK ON IT!

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/jan/28/mick-mccarthy-quote-wolves-reading

for you more sensitive types, I love this Super Mick quote

"No regrets, none at all. My only regret is that we went out on penalties. That’s my only regret but no, no regrets."

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy says about therapists.

"I was asked to see the psychologist when I went to Lyon. I came out with my arm around him, telling him not to worry! I was 30 with a mortgage, three kids, 400 league games and in a new country. I ended up coming out of there telling him not to worry. I didn't see him again!"

Mick McCarthy will be the next to go, but who do we replace him with?

Di Matteo was an inspired appointment for my hated rivals, he gives them a 'no fear' element.

Wolves play guarded every game... We played well in the 2nd half against Man Utd, and at least we scored (one of my main concerns in recent weeks).

Paul Ince has just gone to Notts County, damn (ex Wolves player, doesn't take any sh*t).

Out of both cups, knocked out of the Champions League earlier this season (!), Wolves can concentrate on the league now.

Or as Sir Alex calls it, the 'weague'.

Swaggering down the road, grinning like the idiot he is, Wayne Rooney made for a repulsive sight this week as he held Manchester United to ransom over his bloated pay demands.

He’s living proof that money can buy you anything — except respect. Here’s a man who seems to believe he can get away with anything.

Betray your wife with a couple of prostitutes? No problem — just remind Coleen she’d be living on a council estate if it wasn’t for you. Add in a £675,000 house for the in-laws and even they will turn a blind eye to your thuggish antics on and off the pitch.

As for Alex Ferguson, his loyalty over the years to his protege seemed to count for nothing.

For in Wayne’s world, betrayal doesn’t matter and money rules. The cave in by Manchester United, who’ve handed him a new £45 million, five-year deal, has left him smirking all the way to the bank.

The greed of the man is astonishing. But the most disturbing aspect of the whole episode is that it’s a stark reminder that on Planet Celebrity vulgar, offensive and immoral behaviour does not diminish your worth one jot. Quite the opposite. It actually makes you even wealthier.

Brit remember Adebayor's tantrums at Arsenal. He wanted to get away one week, they doubled his wages and he came out with statements like, he only ever wanted to play for Arsenal, lol.. Of course couple of seasons later, Man C came with even more cash and he headed that way

By britexpat• 22 Oct 2010 19:40

Does this mean that others will now tray and use the same tactics ?

I hope not !

By anonymous• 22 Oct 2010 19:28

Can't believe Ferguson gave in to his blackmailing tactics so quickly.

Rooney says ,"I am signing a new deal in the absolute belief that the management, coaching staff, board and owners are totally committed to making sure United maintains its proud winning history. I am sure the fans over the last week have felt let down by what they have read and seen. But my position was from concern over the future." So United don't win the league once in 4 years and he thought they have no ambition and no chances of success and the manager isn't keen on winning.. What utter crap..

By anonymous• 22 Oct 2010 19:21
anonymous

Rooney has re-signed with Manure, as Brit just 'reported'.

On so many levels, how wrong is that?

This isn't the boom period of the 90's when they could let Beckham go and splash the cash.

United are acting like a woman whose man cheats, and they take him back.

If this was all just a ploy to get more money, then he is more of an a**e than I ever believed.

If I was his team-mate I would be fuming.

Oh, and Rio Ferdinand is saying he 'never had any doubt' Rooney would re-sign, and that Shrek is 'united through and through'.

REALLY?

Ozil/Mueller are good buys i agree.. in that case we can look for sneijder too.. but we need a striker and ozil n mueller are not !! I wan Nando

By Mr M.• 22 Oct 2010 15:33
Mr M.

Podolski would be a great signing for Man Utd.In case we forgot,Fergie wanted to sign his Germany teammate Ozil during the World Cup after watching one Germany match.Mourinho snatched him though at the right time and what a signing he has been!

I would also say Mueller if Bayern will release him and that is unlikely.

By cnadnaan• 22 Oct 2010 14:07
cnadnaan

instead of scratchin our head to keep him with teh club, we shud rather let that traitor go and start thinking whom should we buy as a replacement., this time im really hoping SAF invests in a world class player with the money we get instead of buying decent and emerging players.. we need an already proven striker if the cheat leaves.. Whom wud u reckon we shud sign ? Im going for El Nino though i have a feeling this might not happen but its the best buy.. Other contenders - Diego Militto, Podolski, Huntelaar to an extent as he can score if u look at his current form and his earlier goal scoring ability too before he joined RM ( he wont cost us more too though hes not world class).. anymore justifed suggested players ?

By Mr M.• 22 Oct 2010 10:32

I've always thought this, since his days as Plymouth manager; Ian Holloway should be a future manager for England.

Is he the most technically gifted manager? No, though he would admit to that himself.

But he speaks the truth.

Imagine if he was in place of Capello. Would Rooney be in the England squad?

No.

He would put the prima-donnas in their place.

This clip isn't the first time he has called a spade a spade, and he has no fear of the sack. He is humble, talented, and level headed. I'd kill for him to manage my team (and country).

As for Rooney, well....

He is questioning United and their 'lack of ambition'.

Open your eyes Shrek.

Liverpool were on the brink.

THERE IS A GLOBAL ECONOMY CRISIS.

Plus he is a total f***ing idiot for this reason, and it made me laugh (and cry) with irony;

they don't match his ambitions.

HOW ABOUT WINNING THE WORLD CUP? His ambition to win the World Cup wasn't enough for him to stop smoking, drinking, or cheating on his pregnant wife was it?

Ambition at the wrong time son, could have done with some of this back in June.

C**t.

This shows the power of agents and the mentality of these prima donnas..

i agree with you. Fergie was like a father to him. He should look at people like Giggs and Scholes , who are icons and loyal to the club. They will be remembered long after he's gone..

By anonymous• 19 Oct 2010 18:57
anonymous

Rooney, my god...

SAF was defending him, shielding him from the press and what does he do? Stabs United in the back.

I am not a ManUre fan, but this is just petulant and typical of the 'bigger than the club' syndrome.

He should recognise that Fergie was actually helping, but then of course Rooney has always shown sound judgement in situations before I guess (*prostitutes, ahem*).

If Fergie was a 1st year manager I would get it. But he has been around for ages, if your manager was that legendary and had that much success, wouldn't you shut the hell up and remember that he has a 40 year head start in life, and probably knows a thing or two?

Rooney is an idiot, and even though Wolves are struggling, I wouldn't want that cancer on the team.

BBC is at the centre of a huge controversy and facing litigation as we speak. As you all may well be aware, Commonwealth Games are currently in progress in Delhi, India. Today before the 10 Metre Platform diving contest, BBC posted something on their website which has landed them in hot water, the text in question was

Tom Daley Vs Matt Mitcham, World Champion vs Olympic Champion... The 2 best divers in the world go head to head to decide the BEST diver in the world.

Immediately after hearing about this, Didier Drogba & Cristiano Ronaldo got enraged and have decided to drag BBC to court for calling someone else as the best diver in the world.. The text has since been removed from the BBC website and they are searching for a diplomatic solution. They are considering playing a clip of Drogba & Ronaldo's dives in front of the judges in Delhi for them to decide who is better..

More updates to follow..

By anonymous• 10 Oct 2010 12:19
anonymous

The problem is, if you are a club that manages your finances and your aim is to stay profitable, what happens?

You get relegated. You don't win anything.

The collective debt of United, Chelsea, Real, Barca....is hundreds of millions.

Didn't Barca take out a loan to play their players?

Its hard to know what to think; My Wolves are financially sound, and aren't risking ruin, but then aren't winning anything either.

Why?

Because debt is the name of the game. Buy now, win now, pay later.

You don't get rewarded for keeping the club alive.

Wolves could have bought Ronaldo, Kaka....

Do you know how?

Because Real didn't 'buy' them, they got them with money they don't even have, they are in DEBT.

The worrying thing about the Liverpool sale is the motive of the new owners..

As per The Mail on Sunday..

"Dave Checketts, the owner of American MLS champions Real Salt Lake said 'Most American owners see the Premier League as a chance to multiply their wealth. They understand the passion that exists for football here but see it strictly as an opportunity to invest in - and then exit from.' Quite."

"Henry is not buying Liverpool with the same motives as Roman Abramovich at Chelsea or Sheik Mansour at Manchester City. These billionaires have used their clubs as hugely expensive vanity projects. For Henry and Co, it is just another commodity deal."

Qhris that's the difference between the "Invincibles" and the young boys that Wenger is nurturing at present. These kids simply lack charisma.

And who would ever argue with the fact that viera, henry and Arsenal back then was the most feared team in the Premier League.I remember other teams hoping and praying that Arsenal drop points so they could go above them in the table.

By anonymous• 8 Oct 2010 16:09

Although I see their logic, my word....can you imagine if you are allowed to start suing in football?

Where would it end?

England suing for loss of earnings, emotional distress and trauma because the ref missed Lampards goal against Germany?

Law and football don't mix, which is why the governing bodies have to hand out punishments that fit the 'crime' so that the public don't feel the players have gotten away with it.

Don't remember Wenger complaining too much when he had Vieira in the 90's....

By Mr M.• 8 Oct 2010 15:50
Mr M.

Brit, even Wenger was sort of trying to place his players in the "safe" zone whatever that means to him.Only because some of his players sufferred horrific injuries as a result of tackles during the past few seasons. It's time the Arsenal boys grew up and live up to the rough nature of football.

WK,The FA is considering suing the referee who was incharge of the City vs Newcastle match about that De Jong issue, simply because he never sent off or even booked him after that bad tackle.

By britexpat• 8 Oct 2010 15:12

A performance worthy of an Oscar..

What I don't understand is why EUFA or the FA don't take action AFTER the fact. They should analyze footage and punish both the player and the club..

I remember Norman "bites your legs" Hunter when he played for Leeds United :O)

Keeps getting worse for Liverpool

By anonymous• 8 Oct 2010 13:49

Maybe it is my rose-tinted glasses but....what the hell would people be saying if Vinnie Jones, Roy Keane, Neil 'Razor' Ruddock were playing?

That doesn't make it right, but things have been worse.

And I remember seeing the horror tackles of the 90's and my Uncle saying....'you think that's bad, you should have seen them 10 years ago'!

I guess every generation thinks theirs are the worst, but football is a contact sport.

Recently the NFL (the 'other' football) released findings that concussions that happen in tackles are potentially causing brain damages in later life. Head on tackles are a huge part of their game, and concussions were seen as a badge of honour before now.

Is football causing cognitive injuries? Not to belittle a broken leg, but they heal easier than, er....a brain.

Also, De Jong at the weekend....well, he seemed to be after the ball....there is a difference if it is a Keano on Haaland revenge attack isn't there?
