Could do with Liverpool putting a few past Everton because, selfishly, the Toffees are more likely to be in the relegation scrap with my Wolves.
Our goal difference is shoddy, Liverpool will start climbing the table so...
That said, would be useful if we started being in control of our own destiny, rather than relying on the results around us.
My personal fave of McCarthys is.....well, this one
but IF SWEARING OFFENDS YOU, DON'T CLICK ON IT!
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/jan/28/mick-mccarthy-quote-wolves-reading
for you more sensitive types, I love this Super Mick quote
"No regrets, none at all. My only regret is that we went out on penalties. That’s my only regret but no, no regrets."
Mick McCarthy
Wolves boss Mick McCarthy says about therapists.
"I was asked to see the psychologist when I went to Lyon. I came out with my arm around him, telling him not to worry! I was 30 with a mortgage, three kids, 400 league games and in a new country. I ended up coming out of there telling him not to worry. I didn't see him again!"
Who all up for tomos match at sports bar.. i ll try my best to finish work n reach though i doubt.. i know LM is comin
That'a lot of money.I think the fight will be between City and Real Madrid to rope him in.
Mourinho has said he doesn't need any more players this season btw.
Arsenal lost yesterday :O)
Gareth Bale is being touted as a 50 million pound target for Real Madrid and Barca.. Hope he's not a one season wonder..
Interesting, but do you think Bale will get his place in the City starting line-up every week? i doubt that.
Inter sufferred their first Champions League loss this season. They were overwhelmed by a determined Spurs side who put up a fight to win.
Is champions league football happening at Aziziah tonight or its cancelled for sure ? :)
Bale WAS wasted earlier now he doesn play in that position. Harry has understood his potantial and placed him at the right position now..
Btw LM if i finish work early on sunday, i ll make it., but finishin before 7 is something that i doubt :(
aint u working on sunday LM ? :)
He would make a great replacement for Giggs :O)
Bale is wasted at fullback
WIll let you know LM..
Bale was OUTSTANDING, Harry is not in a selling mood but how much can he resist...
Liverpool Chelski is the late KO on Sunday, anyone coming to sports bar to watch it?
Well Spurs pulled it off...
I wonder if City will bid for Bale in January ?
Brit lightning doesn't strike in the same place twice does it? i fancy a fiery contest.
Going by the past few games ..
Tottenham will be down 4-0 in the first 20 minutes and then come back to lose 4-3 ..
Im going for a draw between spurs and milan !!
Spurs vs Inter should be an exciting match tonight.
Time for Champions league football tonight !
Excellent..
Perhaps it would have been better to but some actual manufacturer parts, rather than less expensive subsitutes..
good article, suprising because i dont usually agree with what this twat has to say!
http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/sport/rorysmith/100013046/liverpool-roy-hodgson-and-the-tortured-analogy/
ROFL...
Simple philosophy..
Reminds me of our school master who coached footy :O)
By the way Di Matteo is doing great. I hope he doesn't doa Phil Brown ...
i would not replace him with anyone else at the minute, paul ince i think not or anyone else out there for the minutue, there is only one team worth talking about this year and its accrinngton stanley... accrington stanley who are you!!!!
That said though, this was just on the Wolves board!
Master tactician ;-)
http://strackattack.com/gifs/paul%20ince%20blackburn%20football.gif
Mick McCarthy will be the next to go, but who do we replace him with?
Di Matteo was an inspired appointment for my hated rivals, he gives them a 'no fear' element.
Wolves play guarded every game... We played well in the 2nd half against Man Utd, and at least we scored (one of my main concerns in recent weeks).
Paul Ince has just gone to Notts County, damn (ex Wolves player, doesn't take any sh*t).
Out of both cups, knocked out of the Champions League earlier this season (!), Wolves can concentrate on the league now.
Or as Sir Alex calls it, the 'weague'.
what you lot have to realise is you actually know jack shit about football dont matter who you support. you cant watch live games you cant actually know upto date information on football but hey ho you all comment far too much... reina if he goes to manu scum i will eat my own poo, i hate man u, everything about them, have you e ever noticed when you talk to the supporters they all talk S***, WE ALL LOVE LEEDS
Lost marbles i know i was! Dammit! the kids did well last night.
Will join u guys after tennis..
Mr M, you were way off the mark thinking Newcastle would beat the Gooners last night!! 4-0!!
Brit that could be possible. You should have seen the look on his face straight after the Man Utd vs Wolves match!
But seeing the way they played, we should think otherwise.
Wolves are going downwards..
Perhaps McCarthy will be the next managerial casualty..
Ideal WK see you there
Lost Marbles I am in for that one
Hernandez is the new Ole!!
Whos up for Man Utd v Spurs late KO on sat, sports bar?
Man Utd beat Wolves last night 3-2 at Old Trafford in a thrilling match. For once i fancied Wolves would win this, they played their hearts out.I have to say,i felt sorry for Mick McCarthy after the final whistle!
Newcastle host Arsenal tonight.I fancy a Newcastle win tonight INSHA ALLAH.
PSV score 10 goals.. 8 in second half !!
would it have been a drama played in tandem with ferguson to extract money from the glazers?
I know Qhris is not happy, but The Baggies are now fourth in the table. Great going. Kudos to DiMatteo..
It would have cost more than £45M to replace him!
Swaggering down the road, grinning like the idiot he is, Wayne Rooney made for a repulsive sight this week as he held Manchester United to ransom over his bloated pay demands.
He’s living proof that money can buy you anything — except respect. Here’s a man who seems to believe he can get away with anything.
Betray your wife with a couple of prostitutes? No problem — just remind Coleen she’d be living on a council estate if it wasn’t for you. Add in a £675,000 house for the in-laws and even they will turn a blind eye to your thuggish antics on and off the pitch.
As for Alex Ferguson, his loyalty over the years to his protege seemed to count for nothing.
For in Wayne’s world, betrayal doesn’t matter and money rules. The cave in by Manchester United, who’ve handed him a new £45 million, five-year deal, has left him smirking all the way to the bank.
The greed of the man is astonishing. But the most disturbing aspect of the whole episode is that it’s a stark reminder that on Planet Celebrity vulgar, offensive and immoral behaviour does not diminish your worth one jot. Quite the opposite. It actually makes you even wealthier.

Portsmouth going to close for good, any Pompey fans here?
Brit doubt no further and what you say is absolutely correct.Rooney is definately for the money nothing else. They have simply jacked up his wages.
Qhris manure and Shrek! lol!
TFS..
He's a two faced twat.. It is clear that he is in it for the money.. I would like to think that it's over for a few years, but i doubt it..
Rooneys interview after he signed the new contract ..

Yes.. finally the rat sign a new deal .. i was a huge admirer of rooney as im a man utd fan but he lost the respect i had for him.. though he was one of keano , giggsy and scholesy types who ll committ himself to the club n play with heart.. anyway lets see how it goes on from now on.. i was anyway ok with he departing.. din feel bad that we lost out somethin big.. people come and people go.. club remains always !! and im a man utd supporter not a player proned guy..
btw guys anyone meetin up tomo at sports bar ??? I miised out last week as i was down with fever.. Im on for tomo though ther r no big matches apart from early kick off.. spurs vs everton..
big match on sunday but i ll be working :/ :/ so whats the POA ?

Brit remember Adebayor's tantrums at Arsenal. He wanted to get away one week, they doubled his wages and he came out with statements like, he only ever wanted to play for Arsenal, lol.. Of course couple of seasons later, Man C came with even more cash and he headed that way
Does this mean that others will now tray and use the same tactics ?
I hope not !
Can't believe Ferguson gave in to his blackmailing tactics so quickly.
Rooney says ,"I am signing a new deal in the absolute belief that the management, coaching staff, board and owners are totally committed to making sure United maintains its proud winning history. I am sure the fans over the last week have felt let down by what they have read and seen. But my position was from concern over the future." So United don't win the league once in 4 years and he thought they have no ambition and no chances of success and the manager isn't keen on winning.. What utter crap..
Rooney has re-signed with Manure, as Brit just 'reported'.
On so many levels, how wrong is that?
This isn't the boom period of the 90's when they could let Beckham go and splash the cash.
United are acting like a woman whose man cheats, and they take him back.
If this was all just a ploy to get more money, then he is more of an a**e than I ever believed.
If I was his team-mate I would be fuming.
Oh, and Rio Ferdinand is saying he 'never had any doubt' Rooney would re-sign, and that Shrek is 'united through and through'.
REALLY?
Saudi Arabia's Hilal FC and Shabaab FC are out of the AFC Champions League Semi-Final.Both teams conceded goals due to horrible defensive mistakes although Hilal were almost close to come from behind to win.
It's been a sad week for Saudi fooball :(
Well, the end of the world is definitely nigh..
Now they're saying that Shrek has signed a new conytract :O(
Ozil/Mueller are good buys i agree.. in that case we can look for sneijder too.. but we need a striker and ozil n mueller are not !! I wan Nando
Podolski would be a great signing for Man Utd.In case we forgot,Fergie wanted to sign his Germany teammate Ozil during the World Cup after watching one Germany match.Mourinho snatched him though at the right time and what a signing he has been!
I would also say Mueller if Bayern will release him and that is unlikely.
instead of scratchin our head to keep him with teh club, we shud rather let that traitor go and start thinking whom should we buy as a replacement., this time im really hoping SAF invests in a world class player with the money we get instead of buying decent and emerging players.. we need an already proven striker if the cheat leaves.. Whom wud u reckon we shud sign ? Im going for El Nino though i have a feeling this might not happen but its the best buy.. Other contenders - Diego Militto, Podolski, Huntelaar to an extent as he can score if u look at his current form and his earlier goal scoring ability too before he joined RM ( he wont cost us more too though hes not world class).. anymore justifed suggested players ?
Brit i even heard Real Madrid were interested, but "the special one" has said that he doesn't need any more new signings this season. He says he would rather avoid signing him altogther.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1322674/Real-Madrid-rule-winter-Wayne-Rooney.html
City probably see it as another chance to rub it in after taking Tevez..
It doesn't matter where he goes as long as United spend the money they get.
Man City are ready to pay anything to bring Rooney to Eastlands, but City fans think he better not make that move. They aren't so excited about this at all.
but here's what Mancini had to say about this issue.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/oct/20/wayne-rooney-manchester-united-city
Lol Qhris..
The reasoning he has given is so lame. If United are not ambitious then who is... Ah Man City ofcourse, lol..
I've always thought this, since his days as Plymouth manager; Ian Holloway should be a future manager for England.
Is he the most technically gifted manager? No, though he would admit to that himself.
But he speaks the truth.
Imagine if he was in place of Capello. Would Rooney be in the England squad?
No.
He would put the prima-donnas in their place.
This clip isn't the first time he has called a spade a spade, and he has no fear of the sack. He is humble, talented, and level headed. I'd kill for him to manage my team (and country).
As for Rooney, well....
He is questioning United and their 'lack of ambition'.
Open your eyes Shrek.
Liverpool were on the brink.
THERE IS A GLOBAL ECONOMY CRISIS.
Plus he is a total f***ing idiot for this reason, and it made me laugh (and cry) with irony;
they don't match his ambitions.
HOW ABOUT WINNING THE WORLD CUP? His ambition to win the World Cup wasn't enough for him to stop smoking, drinking, or cheating on his pregnant wife was it?
Ambition at the wrong time son, could have done with some of this back in June.
C**t.
Loved it brit.. He is soooo damn right
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/9116212.stm
Most insane rumor that I ve heard for long time now in few years..
http://www.espnstar.com/home/news/detail/item518284/Fowler:-Rooney-could-join-Perth-Glory/
to go now - he was the one who said to give him 10 games - well we have played 8 Mr Hodgson and even if we win the next two (which i doubt) it is a pathetic return for over A QUARTER of a season. Im not one for getting rid of mangers at a whim but this is not the job for him and by saying that we 'played some good stuff' on Sunday made me puke!! the guy is over his head, way over his head. Stability is needed but bollox to that get rid now Liverpool!!!!!!!!
S_isale i highly doubt that, although I wouldn't be surprised if City land him in the winter tranfer window, remember they are ready to pay anything to bring Rooney to Eastlands.
will rooney end up in Liverpool?
And btw,Rafa wants to have on over mourinho by saying he wants to play more attacking football and wants to score more goals.
UKEngQatar,i heard what Rafa was saying last night on Al Jazeera Sport as well,he was also saying that he was done with Liverpool and that he wants to concentrate on Inter now.
Yes, I was wondering about Hodgson's comments too..
I seriously think that the new owners need to get rid of the manager now. The new man can then bring in a couple of faces in January and hopefully energise the team...
Shanks must be turning in his grave..
I second that LIS.. I was listening to Rafa Benitez just before the Inter Tottenham game on Al Jazeera last night. How easily is that every one can blame each other and dont want to fix the problem. At least the owners should know the some History of this great club not only the Business deals.
I really hope Liverpool bounce back soon.
the most painful week in recent history! :0) .. I can swallow being beat at home to Blackpool but losing to that shower of toss pots from the other side of the park really is the lowest we can go - and then Hodgson said we played 'some good stuff'! What Effin game was the idiot watchin? Unlucky Spurs by the way!
Damn time ran out on Bale before he could complete the most sensational turnaround but still 3-4 by ten men Spurs after being down to 10 men within the first 10 minutes and from 0-4 down, well done
Step aside Lionel Messi, Gareth Bale has the best Left foot in the world..
Inter 4- 3 Bale..
What strikes, what a player...
Gomes red carded, Modric substituted.. What a sad night and it's just begun :(
3-0 Inter, It's painful to watch :(
I hope Spurs pull something out of this mess they are in.
Inter's most senior player,Zanetti opened the scoring in less than two minutes, and then a penalty all this in less than 10 minutes
They are going the rough way down, the lilywhites :(
Spurs are down 2-0,Gomez sent off for a rough tackle! :(
True LS,, thought rooney's gonna stay for life like giggsy and scholesy :/ :/
Lets face it, Rooney is a scouser in Machester! Was never going to be long term! Made him a star now he kicks us in the boll*cks
I reckon a Man Utd win at Old Trafford tonight and i wouldn't be surprised if Rooney is left out completely yet again.
Tonight's a bigger match,Inter Milan vs Spurs at the San Siro that should be a huge match!.But i doubt whether Spurs will be able to stop Sneidjer and Eto'o who is in blistering form.I hope Spurs snatch a win in Italy. It's possible this time remember,it's Rafa who's in charge this time not Mourinho. He has an experience in bieng in the losing side!
I think to make the Champions League more interesting it should be renamed the Eu-ROO-pean Cup, and the winner gets Wayne Rooney for free.
Kidding.
Real Madrid beat AC 2-0, and Arsenal stuffed Shiskebab Doha-esk 5-1.
Good times tonight, some true stars on show.
Clarence Seedorf for Milan though! Thought he retired years ago!
Bloody hell!
I googled Seedorf, it was my mistake, I thought it was Edgar Davids.
AND THEN I found out that Davids is still playing, for....
CRYSTAL PALACE!!!!!!!
anyone watchin the interesting game ac milan vs real madrid.. im all set to watch.. gonna start in a awhile.. hoping it ll be killer one !!
I so envy u guys that u get to watch the match... i wont be in qatar on 17th :(
well said and yes he has, have not heard LFC mentioned for 2 days!!
Being a Liverpool hater, Rooney wasn't enjoying all the attention on LFC in recent weeks so he thought, let me commit an even bigger act of stupidity to divert the attention from Liverpool and he succeeded :P
Take care ...
lol yes I know! There you go, double act Big Dunc and Our Kev, see how long did that take us to decide. Just waiting for your prediction to happen now - although I don't think it will, Rooney will go and good riddens to him, he can go and hook up with whoever he wants to now......gosh I am so angry at him - need anger management therapy. Never mind, its ladies day at inter con tomorrow, will take it out during my lovely swim:) bye, nice talking with you.
Diane
Howard Kendall probably needs a zimmer frame now.
Kevin Ratcliffe was class..
what about Howard Kendall?? Kevin Ratcliffe?? Graham Sharpe?? My husband said Bob Latchford??
Awesome player..
Wonder if Joe Royale is still around ?
I would be happy with that, plenty of good managers to take over at Everton - imagine big Duncan Ferguson???
Picture the scenario..
Rooney stays.
Fergie retires.
Moyes is new United manager :O)
Yes Britexpat, exactly my words to my husband and my 2 sons, one a man u supporter. I reckon he has worked out he has probably 7 years max left and has been blurred with pound signs and will go to Man City - what an immature Evertonian traitor he is, he proved that when he left Everton! Anyway, we blues did not need him on sunday did we?? Come on you blues:)
This shows the power of agents and the mentality of these prima donnas..
i agree with you. Fergie was like a father to him. He should look at people like Giggs and Scholes , who are icons and loyal to the club. They will be remembered long after he's gone..
Rooney, my god...
SAF was defending him, shielding him from the press and what does he do? Stabs United in the back.
I am not a ManUre fan, but this is just petulant and typical of the 'bigger than the club' syndrome.
He should recognise that Fergie was actually helping, but then of course Rooney has always shown sound judgement in situations before I guess (*prostitutes, ahem*).
If Fergie was a 1st year manager I would get it. But he has been around for ages, if your manager was that legendary and had that much success, wouldn't you shut the hell up and remember that he has a 40 year head start in life, and probably knows a thing or two?
Rooney is an idiot, and even though Wolves are struggling, I wouldn't want that cancer on the team.
Fergie admits Rooney wants to go..
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/m/man_utd/9104392.stm
It was on the cards, but still a surprise... Gordon Strachan has left Middlesborough...
goal.com always comes up with the most insane rumours generally.. somethimes they happ to get it right.. i hope this is one of those supid rumours which they generally post..
Rooney update
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/m/man_utd/9101905.stm
Liverpool boss is delusional if he believes Reds played well in defeat by Everton !
http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/philmcnulty/2010/10/hodgson_living_an_illusion.html
Got mine too!!
Yes LM, I already bought mine.. Woo hoo!!!
Its not on the BBC website, I dont know the source of the news on that link WK, tickets for the Brazil v Argentina match on sale on QFA website!!
I can understand Rooney's poor form in the Premier League as well as on International duty. That will prompt him to look elseware.Natural.
LM they are posting it in Gossip column as of now..
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/gossip_and_transfers/9100474.stm
Nothing on BBC Sport about it
lost marbles
http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896/premier-league/2010/10/18/2170620/real-madrid-barcelona-manchester-city-on-alert-as-wayne
ALL the papers and BBC are carrying the news.. He could be gone by January.. :O)
Where did you read that?
Rooney has said he wants to leave United ....
I hope he remembers what happened to Stam, Becks and Nistelroy, once they went. At United, they were gods. Elsewhere, they were ordinary mortals :O)
City above United, Spurs level with Arsenal on points... Interesting season so far...
And oh in case nobody mentioned it before, Liverpool in RELEGATION zone :P
LS.. whats with our red devils man ? :/ :/ why they conceding goals this much n giving away lead ?? everytime we had a chance to take adv of chelsea having dropped points, we never capitalized on them :/ :/
Legends!
Those players wouldnt last five minutes in the modern game, just a bunch of henchmen! Unlike Best, Law and Charlton, REAL class!
Great Days !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh youngster..
If only you'd seen Leeds under Don Revie.. There was an aura about them. Players like Billy Bremner, Alan Clarke, Mick Jones, Paul Madeley, Norman Hunter, Gary sprake used to be the invincibles..... :O)
I have great memories of going to Elland Road and getting beaten up in the subway ......
Good Times
Oh I loved watching Leeds play under O'Leary, really exciting.. Didn't see much of them under George Graham..
WK Leeds United were fantastic in the 90's.First under George Graham and then under his assistant coach David O' Leary.
LOL!
Liverpool legend and former Leeds striker Robbie Fowler on Sky, suggesting the Leeds team that got relegated in 2004 "was better than that Liverpool side that played today"
Lost marbles your right Spurs started last season badly as well, but they fought hard and well and now they are in the Champions League.
Horrible performance by Liverpool,i bet Hodgson will definately be given the sack.
They were punching way above their weight under Rafa
This time last year Surs had 2 points from 8 games! But then they sacked their manager!! So its proven, it wasnt all Rafa's fault, They are just shite!!
Cheer up buddy.. It's a long hard season yet....
Final score 2-0, Liverpool now 2nd from bottom with 6 points from 8 games!
What must Shanks be thinking ??
I remember once when Emelyn Hughes remarked "Liverpool are magic. Everton are tragic"
What would he say now ??
Oh dear.. Hodgson searching for a hole in Goodison park to disappear... 2-0 Everton lead..
Arteta 2-0!! lol
Arteta 2-0!! lol
You see. There is a God :O)
Cahill 1-0 34 mins
I'm going for an Everton win, with Hodgson hopefully being sacked soon after.
I don't know what brits are talking here about Liverpool and Toffees but i really love football!
Lost marbles today's match should be interesting i must agree.I say Liverpool will snatch a win today at Goodison Park. But let's not underestimate the Toffees good current form.If they start with yakubu in tandem along with Cahill, they will give the Reds a hard time in midfield.
Well, Man Utd Fuc*ed up big time again and chelski drop points too, the plus side is the relegation battle tom, 4th from bottom Everton take on 3rd from bottom Liverpool! should be interesting being a local bun fight too!!
Chamakh the pin-up doll faked bieng challenged, and the Gooners awarded a penalty,Nasri levelled :(
Chamakh the pin-up doll faked bieng challenged, and the Gooners awarded a penalty,Nasri levelled :(
Arsenal are behind 1-0 to Birmingham at the Emirates. The kids have been screwing up.
Sat 7.30 Villa v Chelski, Sports Bar
Flan i remember asking you to do just that.Sure you have some good pics from Anfield.
Malcolm Allison of teh panama hat and cigar fame has passed away.. Another icon gone.. RIP
flan really??
That's amazing, lol..
You can mail them to me at [email protected], I will put them up for you
i would post pics from my recent trip to liverpool but in 2.5yrs i still haven't mastered how to post pics.
let me know if we meeting up.. if its early kick off then our usual place :) wat say.. else we ll meet up at sports bar
LM sounds like a good idea, where do you want to do that?
Anyone meeting up for the Villa v Chelski match sat eve?
Hicks and Gillett have got an temporary injunction from a Texas court :O(
Now what jurisdiction a Texan court has in the UK, I don't know ..
WK..that was class!!
BBC is at the centre of a huge controversy and facing litigation as we speak. As you all may well be aware, Commonwealth Games are currently in progress in Delhi, India. Today before the 10 Metre Platform diving contest, BBC posted something on their website which has landed them in hot water, the text in question was
Tom Daley Vs Matt Mitcham, World Champion vs Olympic Champion... The 2 best divers in the world go head to head to decide the BEST diver in the world.
Immediately after hearing about this, Didier Drogba & Cristiano Ronaldo got enraged and have decided to drag BBC to court for calling someone else as the best diver in the world.. The text has since been removed from the BBC website and they are searching for a diplomatic solution. They are considering playing a clip of Drogba & Ronaldo's dives in front of the judges in Delhi for them to decide who is better..
More updates to follow..
LM i agree, but when Davies came on last night as a substitute,he made an impact, whipped in a few good crosses into the box and made a few dashes into the 18 yard area.Bolton depend on him a lot to create chances for others and score goals himself as well.
My point is, with all the injuries, why play an untried 33 year old when you have owen?
10.42am: JUDGE RULES MANDATORY INJUNCTION WANTED BY RBS AGAINST OWNERS IS GRANTED: SALE CAN GO AHEAD
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2010/oct/13/liverpool-sale-high-court-verdict-live
And btw, there are Defoe,Bent and Zamora as well if he needs forwards. They are all injured though.
Lost marbles Capello does not trust Owen anymore since he was convinced when he joined Man Utd and he had little playing time with Man Utd.Capello chooses his squad based on their continuos playing time with their respective clubs.
Cant rely on Rooney all the time, the shortage of English forwards was highlighted when 33year old Davies made his debut last night!Whats the point of that??
If you need a goal, whats wrong with Michael Owen? 89 caps, 40 goals and still 2 years younger than Davies!!
Pillocks... No imagination.. The same old ball.... :o(
England forwards yet again failed to prove themselves.. This isnt rooney's year for the club and definitely for the national team !
England getting booed off.. Have seen that before
Thanks...
Now then, the latest news is that Mr. Lim is back in the Liverpool frame..
The reason given is different shareholding patterns. Different person submitting the bid and different company actually owning it or something like that. The owners were both close to Lalit Modi so that's the conspiracy theory.
This is till afootball thread, but can anyone shed some light on why Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab have had their franchises terminated by the BCCI ?
One piece of good news today. Steve "the umbrella" McClaren has vowed never to manage England again... :O)
The problem is, if you are a club that manages your finances and your aim is to stay profitable, what happens?
You get relegated. You don't win anything.
The collective debt of United, Chelsea, Real, Barca....is hundreds of millions.
Didn't Barca take out a loan to play their players?
Its hard to know what to think; My Wolves are financially sound, and aren't risking ruin, but then aren't winning anything either.
Why?
Because debt is the name of the game. Buy now, win now, pay later.
You don't get rewarded for keeping the club alive.
Wolves could have bought Ronaldo, Kaka....
Do you know how?
Because Real didn't 'buy' them, they got them with money they don't even have, they are in DEBT.
yea, now its all money, money and more money :(
I remember the days of Shankley and when football ownership was about passion for the game and not business.. :O(
they will sell it when the time is right. isnt that what all businessmen do?
The worrying thing about the Liverpool sale is the motive of the new owners..
As per The Mail on Sunday..
"Dave Checketts, the owner of American MLS champions Real Salt Lake said 'Most American owners see the Premier League as a chance to multiply their wealth. They understand the passion that exists for football here but see it strictly as an opportunity to invest in - and then exit from.' Quite."
"Henry is not buying Liverpool with the same motives as Roman Abramovich at Chelsea or Sheik Mansour at Manchester City. These billionaires have used their clubs as hugely expensive vanity projects. For Henry and Co, it is just another commodity deal."
they are trying to scare away the present american owners
Liverpool chairman Martin Broughton fears the club is at risk of entering administration, leaving it devalued and "wide open to predators".

Chris Smalling scored the winner for England U-21.. Man utd so :) :) .. will they be telecasting England's match at sportsbar ?
Yea, England on Tues night but KO 10.00pm our time!
Weekend seems to be so boring without premier league :/ jus cant wait for next weekend !!
Brit the way the Italians played wasn't what was expected of them, after their good performances after their World Cup debacle under Prandelli,we though we would see the best of them.
so many things been happening.. Thanks guys for posting them on QL.. was down with fever for past 3 days :( had no internet no nothing for last 3 days..
Well Looks like Reds only target this season should be to finish in top ten atleast !! Being realistic
Hats off to Northern Ireland for holding the Azzuri to a draw..
But "sadly" the Scots got beat :o)
they have got until 15th Oct, with the amount of time legal proceedures take and with the two croonies digging their heels in I dont give them much hope unless they get an extension to that date for some `backhand` reason!
still another 31 games remaining right?
Even if they are on -3 at least 10 wins should suffice for them to remain in the Premier Leagus
I think the administration and point deduction thing is just news hype and perhaps means of pushing the current owners to sell.
Yea its a complete shambles!! And with that squad, they will struggle this year anyway!
What a mess at Anfield..
League has approved the takeover but with Hicks & Gillett looking to block the sale, administration looms large.
Interesting everyone ignoring your post about possibility of Liverpool going into administration whyteknight, they will be on minus 3 points after 7 games if it happens, and 15th Oct is looming!!!
Manchester United have become the first English club to announce profits of over 100million profit, but at the same time posting an £83.6m loss.
Accounts show that they have spent £40m on interest payments.
Qhris that's the difference between the "Invincibles" and the young boys that Wenger is nurturing at present. These kids simply lack charisma.
And who would ever argue with the fact that viera, henry and Arsenal back then was the most feared team in the Premier League.I remember other teams hoping and praying that Arsenal drop points so they could go above them in the table.
Although I see their logic, my word....can you imagine if you are allowed to start suing in football?
Where would it end?
England suing for loss of earnings, emotional distress and trauma because the ref missed Lampards goal against Germany?
Law and football don't mix, which is why the governing bodies have to hand out punishments that fit the 'crime' so that the public don't feel the players have gotten away with it.
Don't remember Wenger complaining too much when he had Vieira in the 90's....
Brit, even Wenger was sort of trying to place his players in the "safe" zone whatever that means to him.Only because some of his players sufferred horrific injuries as a result of tackles during the past few seasons. It's time the Arsenal boys grew up and live up to the rough nature of football.
WK,The FA is considering suing the referee who was incharge of the City vs Newcastle match about that De Jong issue, simply because he never sent off or even booked him after that bad tackle.
A performance worthy of an Oscar..
What I don't understand is why EUFA or the FA don't take action AFTER the fact. They should analyze footage and punish both the player and the club..
And this.
Is the man.
That started it all.
Tottenham remembers you.
:-)
You're right..
I remember Norman "bites your legs" Hunter when he played for Leeds United :O)
The main problem is EUFA and the influx of foreign players. The play acting and diving have had a major affect of teh way the tackles are perceived..
Keeps getting worse for Liverpool

Maybe it is my rose-tinted glasses but....what the hell would people be saying if Vinnie Jones, Roy Keane, Neil 'Razor' Ruddock were playing?
That doesn't make it right, but things have been worse.
And I remember seeing the horror tackles of the 90's and my Uncle saying....'you think that's bad, you should have seen them 10 years ago'!
I guess every generation thinks theirs are the worst, but football is a contact sport.
Recently the NFL (the 'other' football) released findings that concussions that happen in tackles are potentially causing brain damages in later life. Head on tackles are a huge part of their game, and concussions were seen as a badge of honour before now.
Is football causing cognitive injuries? Not to belittle a broken leg, but they heal easier than, er....a brain.
Also, De Jong at the weekend....well, he seemed to be after the ball....there is a difference if it is a Keano on Haaland revenge attack isn't there?
-- only joking mate! I will post on it myself to hit 300! :0)
Sorry buddy .. do you want to go back to the old one ?
you pesky rabbit, i wanted to hit 300! :0(
De Jong dropped from the Dutch national squad for his wild tackles in the premiership.
It's one thing being physical but he is really dangerous at times..
Danny Murphy has said that the three Barclays Premier League managers he most blames for the violent, win-at-all-costs tactics scarring the top flight this season are Stoke’s Tony Pulis, Blackburn’s Sam Allardyce ..
I agree that their teams are physical, but isn't that part and parcel of the English game ?
