New Radars at Signals - Rear End Crashes!!!!

In addition to this I feel that all the signals which have radars need to have a timer set showing traffic the amount of time remaining for the signal to turn red. This will save the numerous rear end crashes at all these signals which have radars installed. I do hope I do not get rear ended by Mr. Landcruiser who does not care about the fine/negative points OR me rear end Mr.Tom/Dick/Harry who has jumped on his brakes early (no offense to any real life tom or harry in qatar). I do slow down considerably when approaching certain signals cause the time interval from green to red in minuscule and with my non ABS assisted brakes I will surely not stop from 80 – zero in that time. I am sure the fines so far collected from breaking the signal will finance these instruments/timers.

Secondly, Why do signals in Qatar not have sensors. Often I do see signals showing green even if there are no traffic coming while the other signals at the intersection are lined up with cars. Even Bahrain, being a much more poorer country, have sensors at all its signals with main intersections remaining green all the time.

Come on Qatar, please copy this too from Dubai/Bahrain.

Watching your rear mirror and checking if a 4WD is behind you would be better to avoid the rear being hit! Prevention is better than cure.....at least for the time being

Timers  will work only in signals were it the change of lights are set on specific time period, but here many signals are based on sensors which detects the amount of traffic and change accordingly, which i belive is better than timers.

perhaps a solution to this is when approaching the signal, SLOW DOWN and give it a huge leeway in timing..yes, you will most likely tick someone off and they will zoom past you, but let them catch the ticket and not rear end you.

Doha needs to work on the timings of the lights. They are entirely too long of a wait in between  light switches. This aggravates the drivers and back up traffic. It should be only about 4-5 minutes between(depending on the intersection)...right now they average about 7-8...or more...They are still an immense improvement over roundabouts but like anything else new..takes time and practice.

there is very very little time for passing from green to red. really very dangerous I am so confused, if I stop someone will hit me from the behind, if I speed up, I get a penalty for red light vialotion (6000) and/or speeding (500min).

this is ridicilous... they have to solve these issues..

Just like the roads, they can't get anything right the first time.  They will undoubtably tear out the signals and redo them at least 2 more times before they consider them "finished"

The lights that do have sensors the idiots don't drive up close enough to set them off...I've had to get out of car and wave people up numerous times...

This is a nice point. I saw it in India. It helps the drivers to ignition off their vehicles if there is more time to wait. It reduces pollution.
