For Newbie .

By Sinned

I've seen several new members get lost in the site, be confused about where they should announce their joining, and post their words of greeting on whatever topic seemed right.

This topic is for new members who don't know where to start, and for older members to post words of advice.

To the new members- First, post your greeting to let people know you're here. Then, post any questions that you might have about TotalSpore.
To the older members- Post words of advice to newly joining members, and try to answer any questions you can.

Here's my short guide-

1. Read the Rules!- There is a rules topic in all the forums. Make sure you read it before ANYTHING.
2. Don't make topics for things if you think there might already be one.
3. No double posting!- I know this is already in the rules, but this is one of the worst problems we've had in TotalSpore. If you already posted, either wait for someone else to post, or edit your last post.

And for joining members, WELCOME TO QL !!!

just to share .

SMILE,

I post this forum to make it easier for newbies to find info about how to get started and to find out basic info about posting topic, ask question..etc.. We also hope that by separating out this section it will make it easier for Newbie to find topics of interest to them, without having to scan through newbie threads.

Please feel free to ask questions here.

We were all new at one time and

there really are NO dumb questions.

When in doubt about whether to post your topic in the newbie or general forum, just use your best judgement, keeping in mind this section is for how to get started or what is realy in QATAR LIVING .

Welcome all newbies and thanks for posting!

Couldn't resist an example of an 'oldie' having a dig at another 'oldie'.

And besides, I leave Doha today for a few weeks and have to get in as many digs as I can before I go. :D

It's a good thread and I agree entirely with what you and Oryx have said. I used QL to find info before I came to Doha, and to make friends with people when I got here.

I sometimes *sigh* when I see a 'fun' thread started which I have seen posted 2 weeks earlier and which has already been done to death, but then again it may be new to the newbies.

does in fact use her personal photo

which gives us all waaaaaaay too much info personal detail about her

I know, cos she told me so after I got to know her better ;)

dont take the acidic comments too seriously

some of us know each other personally and so we are just kidding

and teasing each other

good example: me and gypsy - me and richard123

if you want to let rip and be really cheeky go to sarcastics anonymous... that is what is there for

if you want to make friends - better than soliciting point blank.. join the social group or one of the clubs - post regularly to find like minded people

thanks sinned - great guidelines

you might not get the response u hoped for bcos a lot of the same questions are asked - do a search

use a nic that is fairly neutral and an avatar that is not your personal photo

dont give away too many personal details in your profile

disclose personal details to friends you make online as you go along
