News???

The news in the newspaper today mentions 2 camels with their price tag but nowhere could I see any mention of the humans involved. I agree that life is life, animal or human but it seems human life is cheaper.
Was it necessary to mention how much those animals were worth?
Looking at the car involved, I am sure a human was hurt as well.
Is this really a news?

My friend once hit a cow in India. Cow died and he got cuts all over his body from the smashed windshield. Happened on a highway at night near one of the villages with no light apart from his car's headlights. You can't see what is coming from the side of the road in those conditions.

I know driving isn't always great in Qatar but to blame without knowing what transpired is a touch harsh.

A coworker of mine died in Saudi Arabia when his car hit a camel. I don't know if this happened during daylight, but there have been numerous cases of camels wandering onto the road at night and getting hit.

Usually if a camel is hit, because of his hight and bulk, he will collapse ofn the windscreen and roof and crush the occupant..

The problem is that the article is unclear about the accident.

If the driver was driving like most of the other idiots on that road,it's no wonder he hit the camels. To have actually killed them outright says volumes. I have no sympathy for the driver, only for the camel owner and his camels. It is a long, mainly straight road and there is no excuse for not seeing what's ahead....unless speeding, whilst texting or on the phone, the norm apparently.

For 3 buffalos and 2 cows back home, I can offer you Voluptious Vivien..

She is made of hard wearing polyetheline, has realistic moving parts and speaks ten pre-programmed sentences in hindi.. As a favour, I can also throw in a free foot pump..

Since there is no mention of the driver/passengers of the car I assume they must be uninjured or barely hurt..Allahu'alim.Regarding the camels then yeah they are expensive!Just like high bred race horses are in certain countries. Hope the owner if free of blame is compensated as thats a lot to loose!

It's sort of a tradition to keep animals over the years so we have kept some of them as well in our vilage home.

Visper says she heard...

I will tell you what is true...

My mom and sister visited Egypt about 15 years ago and one of the tours was to visit a bedioun camp. One of the elders there offered my mom 50 Camels for my sister (a blonde, green eyed, south african) My mom had to watch my sister's whereabouts wherever they went, cause she was worried someone would steal her...

This kind of thing does happen...

Saeed, I wish this was not true.. But then, it's just a wish.. ;)

Happy weekend buddy.. :)

brit, that's what I thought was missing too and thus mentioned in my OP. That was the whole point...why was there no mention of the driver or passengers of the car?

As the story says , he didn't have anywhere to exercise them.. I agree he was stupid and dangerous.

The main thing, not mentioned in the story is whether the occupant(s) of the car survived and also whether they'll be compensated by the camel owner..

As WK said, you shouldn't mess up with the CAMELS here...Whether the camels get hurt intentionally or un-intentionally be ready to face the consequences later..

By anonymous• 29 Jul 2010 14:45

drmana it depends how rich or poor the human is. If he is a millionaire- important, common man- who cares.

Hey drmana, BTW, i remember one incident long back from my ex-company where our car driver hit one camel that came from nowhere on his way and you know to a matter of surprise, qatar police took the note of the driver who'd injured the camel and made him to sit at the police station for whole night..
