Is this a News?
A Pakistani man's solution to the age-old dilemma of whether to embark on an arranged or a love marriage has captivated the country's media.
Correspondents say that while it is not unusual for men in Pakistan to have several wives, it is rare for two weddings to take place almost simultaneously under the full glare of the media.
Several Pakistani television stations have carried the nuptials live - on Sunday and Monday - because of the unique circumstances.

It doesn't make sense to me as to why the two women agreed but
Is this a happy ending story to be covered so enthusiastically by the media? Live coverage and so on....
stupid guy
He's still living in 18th century, and doesn't know to have one wife and many girl friends to have a different fcuk every time.
India, one wife is shared between brothers.
I have gone through this news on bbc
brit, the STORY that you have said is from the BOLLYWOOD MOVIE..:P
sorry mate, but i do agree that it does happen in INDIA too..First wife chooses the second one for her husband when she sees that she can't conceive coz of her problem or due to financial reasons too..But such cases are almost seen in rural areas...Urban areas are far away from it...
drmana, this is the irony today that MEDIA acts over smartedly in almost all types of cases, be it a trivial issue to ensure that it should get an international coverage or be it some issues related to politicians and their BLACK MONIES...
Hawk, that was my point exactly. Media portraying him as a hero....WTH!
Unexpected things are happening theses days...
Soniya, you are correct...
Horses for courses..
There was a story a couple of years ago, where a wife actually chose a second wife for her husband..
So, what works for us, may not work for them..
I was watching it yesterday, the girl stated that she is very happy and don't have problem as the other girl is her cousin and they both are interested to marry this guy and they both are happy to be his wives at one time. The case in person, is ok, it is allowed and all depends on their traditions, but...we can say it is very bad the way the media is doing a continuous coverage and showing him like a hero. Disgusting....Media has nothing else to do, just after this type of things....there are a lot of other issues in Pakistan, let them follow the Ministers and other senior officials, why they are encouraging the general public to do this type of things, where the consequences will offcourse very bad.....everyone knows that.

Who is more desperate in the story? The groom, His brides, the families or the media?
Why would you want to share your hubby with another woman? I don't get it...
What is even stranger is that a woman should agree to marry him, knowing that he loves another..
It's a strange world out there..
both girls and families agreed.. now wat to say!!!
This is something i can't digest..
We are getting all the odd news almost everyday on QL..:D
Was it a desperation of the groom to shot two arrows with one bow???
two wife on two side of this man with belans(rollin pins for making chapatis)+two big shopping lists+two wife delievering babies in different hospitals+two wifes giving birth to twins=one mad man..
Heard tht news. Both girls, and their families agreed.
Well, if this is what they want...their business.
Strange to me though that his family insists on him marrying a woman he does not love. ah well!
this is sick!
That is really bad
Even in India in several places i have noticed the same situation
indeed!
