I have gone through all the comments related to the school, now a days I am looking up a good kindergarten for my 3 and half year old daughter, I visited all other Pakistani schools and discussed with the teachers working over there, and I am really not satisfied with there conditions. As we parents working hard to provide best education to our children. Is TNG could be that school which can provide a best future to my kid??? If I compare the Fees it comparatively same as in DMBS I also checked the school and I liked that But I want other Pakistanis suggestions on this topic as I am new in doha and she is my first child.Hope parents of children studying in TNG and DMBS can guide me better on this topic.

Thanks in advance

Qatar Tribune reports:

http://www.qatar-tribune.com/data/20100210/content.asp?section=nation3_6

DOHA A large number of people attended the open day organised by The Next Generation (TNG) Kindergarten recently.

The event provided an opportunity for parents and students to meet the teachers and management and get acquainted with the institution’s facilities.

They also examined the teaching resources and curriculum.

There was a power point presentation which featured TNG students’ involvement in different educational and fun activities.

Parents used the opportunity to express their hopes, dreams and aspirations for their children’s future.

TNG CEO Shagufta Bakali said open days are an essential part of the process of looking for a school.

“This is a very exciting time for us, and we are looking forward to serve the children of Qatar.

The open day is an opportunity for parents and children to spend a morning with us.

Parents looking for the right school for their child often find it useful to see first-hand what different places have to offer.

The Next Generation is working towards its vision to create one of Qatar’s high-performing, most effective, and academically excellent, internationally recognised schools,” Bakali said.

She said the school follows the policy of ‘Open to All’ and welcomes applications from all nationalities.

Earlier, the students participated in colour day.

Explaining the importance of colour day, TNG Principal Qudsia Asad said, “Normally children find it difficult to name the colour as compared to word learning.

It is important to give the children colour term knowledge and the ability to conceptually represent colour, at a very young age.

They must be able to identify each colour, and how they are used in the language.” The teachers organised a number of activities with this view in mind.

They helped children learn colour naming through play and activities.

The teachers gave each child a task associated with colour.

It was a non-uniform day and all children were dressed according to the theme in the class.

Children had their faces painted and wore hats made by them.

There were served sumptuous delicacies.

TNG CEO Shagufta Bakali, lauded the efforts of teachers in organising the event and nurturing children in their early years.

For everyone's information, TNG has a very good response from Pakistani Parents. I went there on Wednesday and there were several parents waiting to get the admission test date. They all were very excited about the opening of a new school. I visited the school with my children and met the teachers. I asked them about their qualifications and experience and they told all details without hesitating. Building and decor looks impressive. Interactive boards and overhead projectors are installed. I am very happy about this school. It looks promising. I congratulate TNG and their team. We as a Pakistani community will always support them.

Your comment / question is 50% right & 50% not :) As per my vision, I see ppl obsessed with something that is not their own. English is not Pakistan's language but because it is an International language, ppl love to learn it so that they can at least communicate with non-Urdu speakers. Now whoever converses in it very well, most of the time, gets a sense of pride that they know a language in which a large number of ppl do not excel. This gives them inner satisfaction & happiness :) We might look at it this way too that since British ruled in the sub-continent for a good considerable time, so in my opinion, this might have effected Pakistanis psychologically somewhere even though it is only 1% out of 100 & that's why they want to excel in something which is foreign & Alhamdulillah an exceedingly large number of ppl are learning this language to communicate well with foreigners, to understand them & to not let the nation down only because of some foreign language :)

Hi everybody

I logged on to qatar living after a long time and saw many interesting remarks. It seems people here are getting more and more personal especially Graywolf, adeel and twinkle attacking each others academic/professional backgrounds, language skills etc.

Twinkle, you probably consider English language as a standard of judging one's personality, thinking and behavior (as you were inquiring adeel about his English and as you said about the CEO, 'she writes English in Urdu') Dear, if you know her so well, why don't you help her with her English. I'm sure, she would appreciate it. It seems you have some personal problems with her. Put your issues aside and regard her initiative.

You guys don't understand being an expatriate, taking such a step is itself commendable and worth appreciating. If you think you can do wonders on the basis of your English then I would suggest you to visit any govt. department here. You will be surprised as you won't find a single person conversing as per your standards and you will end up looking for an Arabic speaker to communicate with them. English is just a medium of conversation like Urdu, Bengali, Arabic etc etc. What's a big deal about it?

If you think adeel or others do not know a thing about education, you are more than welcome to set up your own educational institution. By the way SEC is a bit lenient in granting license to new schools these days. Good for U :)

I do not wish to criticize graywolf or twinkle or anyone else. Just advising you guys to stop pulling each others leg and lend your support to a group of pakistanis who are trying their best to serve our community.

You know what .... I am sure Twinkle.Twinkle was a fabricated user by GrayWolf .... now Twinkle.Twinkle has even closed the account. Last time when I checked Twinkle.Twinkle's account, she was a new user and had joined QL exactly when things started getting out of GreyWolf's hands in this thread.

Just check the very first comment of GreyWolf in this thread .. this is how he starts:

"I am very disappointed by the school"

And he doesn't give a single reason why he is very disappointed. How can one be "very disappointed" by a school when you have never even been there, never talked to any of it's representatives, and above all, the school has not even started yet !!

What a team made by Graywolf! I really appreciate the hardwork. But it would be better if it was used for a positive purpose. All retired/expelled staff of other Pakistani Schools are in this team. I think you guys have joined this forum only for making fun of the The Next Generation School and their staff because you all Know them personally and you all are Jealous that how successful they will be. What a shame that this team is talking about Pakistani Children but so far it is not helping an upcoming International Pakistani School. Our Pakistani community doesn't need enemies from outside, we have enough Black sheep in our own Community.

adeel_9298, It does not surprise me when people with no educational background talk nonsense. It is natural. You have not gone to a good school. You have not gone to college or university. I know that.

With every new post you sink yourself lower and lower.

All Bangladeshis speak Bangla regardless of their literacy level. USA is no different than that. Damned they are the native speakers of their respective native languages. You thought this example will work in your favour. Unfortunately it is another proof of your extreme dumbness and proven ignorance.

I won't be replying to any stupid comments in this thread anymore ... it surprises me when people with good educational background just fail to talk sense.

And last but not the least ... since some people here gauge others based upon their English proficiency, I have something for them:

Do you know what percentage of Americans earn graduate or professional degrees?

Not more than 8.9%

http://www.usatoday.com/news/education/2002-06-05-education-census.htm

And guess what ..... many many of them can speak and write English better than you !!!

So don't try to impress others if your English is good !!

adeel_9298, I am not upset. Why should I? Your arguments expose your idiocy. I am not a big fan of stupidity.

You asked "is it because my English is not exceptional?". Believe me your English is 'exceptional'. Your each sentence including the one above proves it.

Another classic:

"Criticizing just because they are not hiring with skinned teachers and the management is Pakistani is simply a shame."

By the way I do not see Graywolf and Consciouseffort wise persons. If they were they would not seriously argue with you and others of your caliber.

By adeel_9298• 25 Sep 2009 15:43
adeel_9298

Dear I don't get why are you so upset? Is it because I argued with GreyWolf or is it because my English is not exceptional? Please clarify.

If you think my English is not OK, let me know what certification you have in English, and I might get some classes from you :) I would love to improve my English, there is always a room for improvement.

TT:

"adeel_9298, Tell us about where did you study English? How did you learn how to learn?"

What kind of a question is this? I smell lack of decency !!

You are good in pointing out typos .. but you just can't comprehend the depth of discussion going on ... sorry to say TT.

TT:

"The guy you are referring to is talking about quality of education without knowing what that 'thing' is. I personally believe the new school is doing great. They have a vision but people like Adeel make other sensible people believe something is wrong."

Now you think the school is doing great .... wow. You are accusing me of something I have never done. The points I have raised so far are:

1) GreyWolf had some questions regarding the quality of education and he had concern over the fees.

My reply was very precise and I mentioned that quality is expected to be good as they are providing all the necessary ingredients (Computers, electronic boards and some other things) of a good school.

May be GW misunderstood and got personal, but I was comparing TNG with other Pakistani schools and no other Pakistani school is offering this. Some thought I was impressed with computers and electronic boards ... I never said that.

I acknowledged GreWolf's point in my very first post that TNG should publish their staff details on their website. All I said was to give TNG some time and stop spreading negative vibes against TNG; it was too early then. And now you can see TNG is publishing their staff details.

Higher fee structure is another problem and was answered by TNG management. Hiring good teachers is expensive, so it is justified. Good teachers and new technology will definitely cost more.

Raising questions is another thing and criticizing without any reason and logic is something different. Criticizing just because they are not hiring with skinned teachers and the management is Pakistani is simply a shame.

comments.

rbakali, You are right though you spelled my nick incorrectly "Twinckle"

I am not here to teach people. I just want sanity to prevail. People with poor judgment shut their mouth and let the school management take over and clarify the issues some people have raised. Clearly this is not happening here.

The guy you are referring to is talking about quality of education without knowing what that 'thing' is. I personally believe the new school is doing great. They have a vision but people like Adeel make other sensible people believe something is wrong. So basically it is 'bander ke dosti' who by his favour putting his friend in hot water.

If you believe you can help someone enhancing their language skills, suggest, correct and send private message with corrections, rather asking them their qualification and asking “where did you study English”.

Your question gives an impression that you want to criticize, rather being helpful.

Good to know that TNG will be publishing their staff details on their website. This will address all the issues that people have.

People who are easily impressed with white skin should make their children study in other schools (There are many many schools and a very few are actually good)

TNG is for those who want their children to have quality education (British Curriculum) using state of the art technologies for teaching (as claimed by TNG) and at the same time, educating children about Pakistani culture (PAK/Social Studies, Urdu, Pak History etc etc)

So serious parents now have the opportunity to visit TNG and seek answers to all their questions. Avail this opportunity and share your experience. I will definitely visit the campus and will share my exp.

By adeel_9298• 25 Sep 2009 10:06
adeel_9298

I agree with you to an extent CE. There are always all kinds of children in any class, some are genius and and some are average and some just take their own time. But that's everywhere and this is where an education system comes in.

I agree with you that teaching everything on computers is not good for KG children, but TNG never said that this will be the case. But I like the idea that they will be introduced to computers and will be taught and allowed to play/work on it under supervision. A child in KG can be disciplined so that he understands when he can use something he likes and when he cannot.

But yes you are right there are many other things in which children must participate for proper grooming and education, and I will never put my son in a school in which there are no such activities.

I like your "wearing thick glasses" comment :) Don't let your children watch TV for too long, neither let them play on a CRT monitor, if they like to play games on computer, make sure you have a good quality LCD screen, which emits very little radiations compared to a CRT TV or monitor. And you cannot avoid glasses if they have been wired in the genes :) TV and radiations can only contribute to an extent, main reason is that the problem is already programmed in our genes. So lets hope this is not the case.

Adeel all the six points that you mentioned about your sweet son are into my nephew too :) but I didnt go into that much detail :) As you said these children need better environment than what we had .... I completely agree with you but do you think TNG is going to teach your son & my nephew a different thing in KG & other children something else? Certainly not, they have to teach the same curriculum to all the children & are going to cater to the whole class's needs & not only our two kids. Which means our kids would already know what TNG would teach to the whole class & being a genius of their kind they might feel suffocated in such an environment where they are taught basics but ours already went to the advance level. I hope you understand where I am trying to get :)

Regarding games, yes they are good to boost brain levels & focus but do you think a 4 year old or in your case 3.5 year old kid understands that he can play only for a certain or limited time. THey are innocent angels & they would never understand why their dad/mum doesnt let them play for 24 hours continuously? Definitely they need a different environment but I would want my kid, my nephew to experience all the beauties of nature which I enjoyed during my childhood. I would love them to have karate classes & chess games to have a better focus & boost their brain which would NOT damage their beautiful eyes. I would hate to see my son & my nephew wearing thick glasses at the age of 4. I want them to experience making charts to beautify their classroom walls where their small hearts will be full of joy when they point to them & say this chart is made by me. The sense of satisfaction, creativity in my child & nephew is very important for me. I cannot keep on repeating 'technology slogan' all the time just to make them learn computers. I remember my first computer class was MS DOS & typing at the same time when I gave my final board exams for intermediate & I didnt have much scope in home. Ofcourse I dont want my kids to start that late but not as early at the age of 4 too. There is a proper time for everything otherwise sun would keep on shining in the night too :) I am not here to convince you about my thoughts, both of us have different frames of mind & both of us want the best for our kids but our ways are different. I am just trying to get the answers to my questions from TNG.

Graywolf!!!Your points of view are greyer than ur nick! Contrary to what u think i am never impressed by the teacher's skin colour and mentioned my teacher for that very reason.I was simply giving her example to prove that you dont necessarily have to be a native to teach the language well!I wasnt shocked, but proud when my teacher was hired by such a pretigious University!

With regards to affordability i was simply clarifying who the target parents were. Acc to tng, scholarships will be available to deserving students!!!I am sure they would want to help out but the fact of the matter is that this is a business and they have to make it profitable to survive!

If you are unhappy about the less fortunate Pakistani brethren unable to afford TNG then knock on the doors of our embassy and insist that PEC standards be raised to higher levels at the existing fee structure.

Holding a foreign citizenship make its easier for people like you to talk!!!The realities on this side of the globe are different. That includes education.

All i was saying was people need to lighten up and give TNG officials a chance. Stop criticising them before set up!

We previously had 2.5 year old kid talking; now we have 3.5 year old.

Apparently 3.5 year old son is 10 times smarter, intelligent and mature than 2.5 year old father. Like father like son, is no longer true.

In any case kids should stay away from serious discussions among parents.

When we have a 'playtime' we will give you a shout.

Consciouseffort:

I beg to differ, its still a technology which has to be learnt by everyone. I would not talk about my degrees or qualifications but I can guarantee you these days every computer literate parents find it much easier to make their child know how to switch on & off PCs at home & they make them play games on it as a luxury for a limited time & almost these kinds know how to play in MS Paint too :) I have an example in my home too, if I bring my nephew to your school you'll be amazed to see how this little thing does so many wonderful things.

Adeel Ali:

Children today are very very different than our time. These children need a totally different teaching environment than the environment in which we have studied. I am a father of a 3.5 years old boy and he can do the following stuff very easily on my notebook:

1) He can launch firefox browser.

2) He can open games websites. (When he types in address bar, the URLs drop down and he selects the desired one)

3) He can switch to different categories of games depending upon his mood (Flying, racing, funny etc, he understands these categories)

4) He can open MS Word and play with different alphabets.

5) He can open MS Paint and draw different things, nothing is understandable, but he tries.

6) He can navigate across pages (He understands Next Back, close, etc key words and links)

I am telling all this because I want you to think that if a 3.5 years old can do all this at home, he definitely needs a different environment at school for being educated. He can use a computer as a tool for typing (Learning spellings, ABC etc), making sentences, counting, numbers, drawing, coloring, playing educational games etc.

And one more thing, games are not bad for your children, games are good. They help brain development, they boost thinking power and they help child to focus. There are different types of games, let your children play educational games, it is actually good for them.

so anyways, I was saying that TNG is trying to provide that new environment for these special children, and it makes me feel good. Regarding teachers and their qualifications, I admitted in the very first post that they should publish their qualifications .... lets hope they do that once the school is officially open.

I think it would be a better idea to personally visit the school and have a look at their class rooms and meet the teachers to better understand this school and its staff.

Good Luck TNG.

Could you please tell me how many schools in Doha have published their staff's academic background on their websites? You are right that it will enhance the reputation. But are you going to check their documents personally? Any school could simply publish that we have Master/PHD degree holders in our school. But who is going to authenticate it?

=========================================================

Love 1967 is it a rule if other schools havent published their staffs' profiles TNG shouldnt also do that? It is the right of parent to know if their child is going to a qualified person who has come to serve education better or they have sent their children to a time killer :)

Ofcourse no body can personally check their documents but Ministry of Education would definitely do that if we register our complaint if we doubt any teacher's qualification. But on the other side, as TNG says they have highly qualified teachers let them publish their details in a format as one of our member suggested so that we too are relieved. You might not be that concerned but I certainly am dear :)

Your reply is good but I have to understand how my 4 year old nephew in KG would benefit from this. As far as I understand in KGs there are no lectures instead a teacher needs to teach a child:

English:- A to Z

Urdu:- Alif to Yeh

Matchs:- 1 to 100

If you are offering Quran to KG students then I should add 'Yassarna Al Quran' to start making words to prepare a child for reading Quran.

Pls be kind enuff in making me understand what lecture a teacher is going to give in above so that I can justify myself in paying Qar 1200/- for Kindergarten.

Nice reply but attendance is taken only once in a day & not in every period. So this will help you guys in not maintaining manual registers where you have to color weekends & check registers one by one at the end of each month or trimesters :) I must say that this technology would be helpful for the school & teachers only.

*TNGSchool said:

May someone feels that fee is not affordable for them please take advantage of Scholarship.

==========================================================

Consciouseffort:

Its good to take advantage of scholarship but not every child is genious to earn him/herself a scholarship. I personally think fee structure should be made affordable for every one & not only Q companies. Here we have some QLers who are saying they would put their child to this school even though they are not from Q company but I can forsee when their child reaches higher classes & fee becomes equivalent to their other household finance they would automatically change their childrens' school which will effect the innocent mindsets of these children who will not be able to understand why they were taken out of the best school to a lower level because with TNG & its facilities Pak Shama, PEC & BFPS would become a little lower in educational facilities. So, it is high time instead of talking in 'josh' or taking one or other's side just for the sake of argument, its better to be practical & get practical answers.

Could you please tell me how many schools in Doha have published their staff's academic background on their websites? You are right that it will enhance the reputation. But are you going to check their documents personally? Any school could simply publish that we have Master/PHD degree holders in our school. But who is going to authenticate it? Most of my friends are teachers in different schools and I know they are not qualified enough to become a teacher. Some of them have done their BSc and BA and their school proudly says that they are postgraduate. One friend of mine in Al Maha School is an art teacher and has done her high school and she is been asked to cover Mathematics classes for yr 6. When parents found out , they enquired abt it. Principal insisted that this lady has a BSC honors degree in maths.

This publishing academic background thing is actually a trick used by several schools nowadays to attract more parents.

You are right there is no harm in publishing this information and I agree with you that some info should be there on their website. But what if they lie about these qualifications? are you going to verify these? Let me know how.

Please do not brag abt your qualifications. My husband also did his MS and doctorate from US, and he never called these Universities 'Prestigious'. Our old Universities in Pakistan are far more Prestigious than these latest technology equipped Universities. You seem to be higly inspired by west.

Dr Hanad Jaber is a good Psychiatrist in Doha clinic. I am sure because of your citizenship you will have extra privileges and you will be able to see a private Doctor.

This is not first time that you are showing off. In another mail you wrote;

"By the way I have visited all American, European, Pakistani and Indian schools in Doha and then decided not to bring my kids to Qatar. I am entitled to free education in any western school based on my citizenship."

So according to you, not a single school in Qatar is upto your standard. Could you please explain your standards??? I would advise that you start your own school. You also said "Like Winston Churchill I am easily satisfied with the very best." if you are satisfied easily than why didn't you bring your children here?

Also you are quite confused. In your earlier mails, you were totally against TNG. In other mail to TNG ,you were clarifying your position that you have nothing against TNG. And now see your last reply "But TNG, its associates and protectors are being evasive always, which implies something is wrong somewhere. I begin to believe this after seeing their posts and their sympathizers'." Please make up your mind.

Now I believe that you have personal problems with the management of TNG and you are just asking these questions to make a negative impression of this new school.

I have been following this thread from the very start. What is surprising for me is that despite repeated mentioning by graywold, nobody including rep. of TNG school have clarified the issue of teachers which in my opinion is THE most important aspect of verifying credibility of any school.

Why is there so much reluctance from TNG administration to publish qualifications and experience of the key people of their administration and teachers.

For a start, they could do by posting brief biodata of their principal, vice principal and key teachers in following format:

Principal: Mr/Mrs/Miss XXXXXXXX

Qualifications MA/MSc/M-Ed (XXX University)

Experience XX years of teaching experience n XXX school.

XX years in administrating XXX school as XXXXX

I do not see any harm in posting this information which is quite basic and does not do any harm to anybody. Infact, minimum it will do is to enhance reputation and goodwill for the school.

TNGSchool, I just want to tell you that I or no one else is against your school. We admire your efforts. The only difference between us and many others is: we ask questions and want to know what you have got in your box to support your claims for high quality education.

I can give you some tips:

1. Publish yours and your principal's detailed profile on your website

2. Publish your teachers' profiles

3. Do not call your fee structure suitable for anyone.

4. I see you have added scholarship but elaborate and let people know 'clearly' how it works and the criterion to qualify for the studentship.

5. Install a landline where people can contact you.

6. Hire people who can communicate well especially the ones who attend parents' phone calls. They also should be able to provide with the information.

7. Run your school like a professional business.

Good luck

Ngoher, You have once again missed my point, rather sadly. Reading comprehension is something you should seriously consider investing some time in.

I will explain you one more time. It is not the prefix but what a prefix entails. I will not take Dr. Joe Smith who has a PhD in physics as a physician. I will not go to a cardiologist for my bad throat. Please use your head before using your keyboard.

The phrase "accuse an unborn child" has made me feel that you and Adeel Ali have the same caliber. Please think.. think.. think... If you want me to illustrate in a childish way to make children understand, I can do that for you and Adeel. I want to know the state of this unborn baby based on the ultra sound report and insist to see the report myself instead of believing a ward boy's words 'the baby is healthy'.

Oh Lord.. I am talking to kids.

I said in my post to Lamea, I am not impressed with so called word 'American' or 'European' or 'Australian'. That means nothing to me. All western institutions are not prestigious. United States has more than 1000 business schools out of which 750+ are not accredited by any accreditation bodies. This means they did not pass the quality filter test for their programmes. Also, most of the diploma mills are located in the West.

I will judge an institution from the people who run the organization. Certainly where you teach is not a great school, it may be 'prestigious' for those who still live in colonial times.

By the way I have visited all American, European, Pakistani and Indian schools in Doha and then decided not to bring my kids to Qatar. I am entitled to free education in any western school based on my citizenship.

lamea, The fee structure cannot be justified on mere willingness. They need to have resources. They need to build a capability to deliver high quality education if they want to charge more. This is where I am stuck with these guys. They talk about electronic board and PCs not about teachers and management. Facilities are important but more important are educators and school management.

You are saying it is an expansive school affordable for those who work for Q-Companies. Those who don't they must 'go to hell'. However, TNG does not share your point of view. They insist "An economical fee structure has been set to make sure that the families from any echelon of life and even large family would be able to afford".

I let you analyze your statement vis-a-vis TNG's take.

I am surprised when people talk about European/American teachers. Why you guys are so impressed with this? There are good and bad, professionals and others, literate and illiterate, wise and idiots among them as they are in any society. You seem to one of those parents who was befooled for skin. I would not trust a white or black unless he/she is qualified and professional. Please come out of your obsession. You no longer breath under the union jack.

Top Western universities are full with Asian and African professors. It is all about ability to deliver not the colour. Don't be so shocked on your teacher teaching at Wollongong. She is not alone.

adeel_9298, I agree I have many serious problems and I am stuck with those. My serious problems are:

- I am selling mirrors to blinds hoping one day I will make them see the world

- I feel pain for Pakistani children who are unfortunate to have parents like you who cannot make distinction between A and B

- Every time when I hear people like you speaking I see it a setback for my country and try to correct it.

- Despite I know people like you are liabilities to our nation, I do not lose hopes to make you understand and continue dialogues.

- I do not accept my children or any Pakistani child being taught by F.A pass housewives.

- I am not impressed by electronic boards and personal computers

I will want your son to study with my children. To me he is as important as my own children. If you had studied in good schools you would at least had ability to think.

I must take you on a reasoning course.

I quote your sentence:

"Your comments are biased towards the fact that this new school has nothing good to offer .... they don't have good teachers and they are trying to make money out of nothing".

You are calling it a 'fact', that 'this school has nothing good to offer'.

Please read it a few times and see what nonsense you are saying.

Moreover I have not 'accused' this school of anything. I just asked some valid questions which no one is ready to answer.

I totally agree with Gray Wolf's insistence on publicizing the educational degrees of TNG's staff. To me, at least, it matters the most. If they can put the fee structure without the approval of Ministry then they can put the names & qualifications too in front of their names. Its important for alert minded parents to know which hands their child is going to. I worked for BFPS almost 9/10 years back for a year in Administration & I never saw any parent asking such question but I always wondered why do they dont enquire about teachers' qualifications & why dont they try to meet them before enrolling their children. Its really a shame, most of those were happy only for the fact that they have sent their children to expensive Pakistani school from the rest of the schools & which is English medium too. Whereas I clearly knew how many staff members were real teachers & how many worked as teachers only to kill their time. So the standard of education definitely decreases when an idle person joins this noble profession & doesnt take that much interest in brightening the future of their students rather keep on crossing dates on calendars to know how near / far is salary date. As far as TNG is concerned, I am sure they must have taken quality teachers, a few of them I know personally as colleagues are the best ones but what about the rest :)

If we come to fee structure, I have a 4 year old nephew & I was very much interested in admitting him to this school but unfortunately with almost 3 times more than the rest of Pakistani schools fee, this became highly unaffordable for me. Because being an expat & certainly not working with any Q company, I have to think twice. Using electronic boards is a good think but this is for the easiness of teachers, what benefit a student is going to have from it. From expenses point of view TNG has to buy them only once & it will save their costs of chalks / dusters / white board markers.

Again when we come to computers, what a 4 year old child will learn from it.... would it be just coloring / drawing or playing games, in both the cases they would be ruining the eyes of such young children, if all the education is on PC as TNG claims. I would rather prefer my nephew to hold a set of 12 different colours & play with them by making shapes or drawing manually & filling them with colour. Computer is advanced technology but this way we are taking away this human touch from our children which we experienced in our times. I wish good luck to TNG but personally cannot think these facilities are justification for higher fee.

Dear graywolf

From reading your comment, I comprehend that we can trust a doctor because he has a prefix Dr. added to his name. Unfortunately we don't have a prefix Tr. for a teacher and so english language has to be blamed for it.Its not your fault.

Anyways the issue here is to give TNG Administration a chance to fulfill their promises. As Adeel Ali said you can't accuse an unborn child so lets have our fingers crossed and hope for the best.

And one more thing if you want to save your kids from a teacher like me then please don't send them to an international school as i am teaching at one of the prestigious american institution in town.

"I would prefer qualified Pakistani teachers to unqualified white skinned crap that most schools offer!"

Very well said .... lets hope TNG hires good teachers ... we already know they are doing their best in providing other facilities. So please stop spreading negative vibes about this excellent effort. There are many parents who want this school to be successful ... and I am one of them. Because all other Pakistani schools are just too typical .... and lets not discuss Indian schools :P

If you can afford ... British schools and American schools are obviously better .... but they cost 2500+ / month.

The fee structure at Tng is somewhat justified to pay for the higher quality they are willing to offer! Better teachers and facilities cost extra money and one should be willing to pay for it.

For those who were wondering who is going to pay these fees rest assured all the Q company employees who are eligible for free community education will be reimbursed its fee in full. The name pakistan attached to the school is important to Q employees for their company to pay the fee in full! All those who cant pay can try PEC , Pak Shama or BFPS!!!

I would prefer qualified Pakistani teachers to unqualified white skinned crap that most schools offer!

Many of these foreign teachers are Romanian, South African and even Russian!!!English is not their native language and they arent good teachers either but parents are delighted at the fact that their children are taught by light skinned tutors!

My O'level English teacher was so good that inspite of being pakistani she is at present teaching English at the Austrailian University of Wollongong in Dubai!

So guys give the management of the school a break. Support the conscious effort by our brethren to improve the quality of Pakistani education in Qatar because it is seriously lacking!

Sorry to say .... but Graywolf ... you have some serious problems man .... you seem to be a stuck up person.

I still don't understand what is your problem !!!!

Your comments are biased towards the fact that this new school has nothing good to offer .... they don't have good teachers and they are trying to make money out of nothing ....

Don't you think it is unfair to make such accusations against a child who is not even born yet .... let this school start .. let them prove what they are claiming .... give them time and support ... then you can say whatever you want ... now everything you have said is baseless ....

Regarding teachers and their qualifications ... TNG should publish profile of their staff, I am sure they have very good staff ... Give them time ... let the school start ... I heard they don't have a formal approval from the ministry yet ... so I believe they cant publish any such thing before that ... so have patience and give them time !!!!

Take a chill pill .... think positive and let them start .. wish them luck and stop criticizing like a lame person ... we all know its a big effort to start a good school, it takes a lot of money, lot of effort, lot of thinking/planning and lots of resources and people like you have nothing good to offer in support !!! Support them in the beginning and be a man .. later if we think they are failing .... Then will be a right time to criticize !!!

I am proud that someone from Pakistan is taking such a huge initiative ....

And yes ... if you have so many problems ... why don't you try to start one of your own school .... and name it ... "The Perfect Pakistani School" (PPS) LOL

- No I am not a teacher, I am an Engineer

- No I have no direct or indirect link with this school

- I have a son and probably will send him to this school. (At least he will not be studying with children of people who think like GrayWolf ) lol

Madam, You have not specified why you disagree with me on making teachers’ profiles public. What’s wrong in that? Many good schools do. One I visited lately:

http://www.idealschool.edu.qa/TeachingStaff.htm

I was a university lecturer before moving into my current industry job. I feel proud to tell people my educational accomplishments as a teacher. If you were educated, qualified and experienced in your area, you would have an urge to tell people that you had the capacity and capability to deliver.

I pick you sentence: “ I am just wondering when we take our child to a doctor, do we check his qualification, degrees, background blah blah before using his prescribed medicine. My question is when we trust them as professional and experts of their fields why don't we trust teachers as professional and experts?”

In fact we do check if the physician is a ‘physician’. You trust because the title Doctor before his/her name rings a bell in your mind that you are not taking your child to a layman. Why pharmacies do not give many medicines without prescription even pharmacist who themselves are qualified in the area of medicine, have no authority to give away any medicine to anyone.

When I take my child to a physician I make sure that he is a Doctor not an electrician, perhaps you don’t do and just trust anyone for anything.

Your grand question, why we trust doctors not the teachers… is one of the most immature questions I have ever heard in my life. Anyway here is a simple logical answer for you and many others who may have been swayed by the buzz words like ‘state-of-the-art’, ‘best teachers in town’ etc.

We cannot distinct qualified ‘teachers’ and others as the title teacher is ‘conferred’ to anyone who teaches. An M.Phil, M.Ed with 20 years of experience is also called a teacher and an F.A pass housewife who joined a school a day ago will also be called a teacher. To me the distinguishing factor is his/her qualification, education and experience.

You are a teacher so you certainly know how many people have been burnt by F.A pass housewives-turned-teachers in Pakistanis schools in Doha. Your analogy of checking on medical practitioners’ qualification is a proof that you are one of those teachers that I want to save my kids and other Pakistani kids from.

For heaven’s sake get into the job you know. For some small bucks you guys are eclipsing nation’s future and ruining children’s lives.

TNGSchool, Good to hear from you.

You said "at end it was found that these institution are more toward business rather education.". I am quite skeptical about this. Good institutions in Pakistan such as Beacon house etc. offer quality education. Their quality is for the reason that they are in real 'business'. What's wrong in being more business-oriented? They take it as business and run it effectively, make money for themselves and in return offer quality education to their clients. If you are not good at business you will end up running a typical village type madrassa. Please get down to the business and offer quality education in return.

You claimed that TNG is formed just to offer quality education. If this is the real cause we appreciate you and support you in any way we can.

Having said that, I will comment on your four highlighted areas:

- Quality Education:

Mission and Vision statements are not more than 'tag lines' unless they are translated into reality. You have yet to prove it. However there are many other indicators which show the commitment towards quality. I am surprised you have only mission and vision to quote in proving your claim of quality education.

- School Facilities:

It sounds good you have good facilities. But as you said they still do not guarantee the quality, I agree. At this stage, what guarantees the quality at TNG?

- Staff: You claimed to have hired best teachers of Qatar. You maybe right. However, I will like to know their educational achievements, qualification, experience and where did they gain their experience. I asked this question in my earlier post. Why being evasive on this, I don't comprehend.

Please don't say, it is 'private information'. I still can't control my laughter on the this quote of loveqatar1967 "if they disclose the private information of their staff to parents, I must say they are breaching the privacy laws".. For heaven's sake.. give me a break.

Put your teachers profiles on your website please.

- Fee Structure: This is not the burning topic. Burning topic is quality of education. You can justify higher fee if you provide with quality education. Even if you add up all those items such as computer, soft skills etc.. still your fee is not reasonable. Anyway it relates to quality again.

It is great you have scholarship schemes. Please put them on your website (in detail, no word jargon) along with your fee structure. Please mention the criteria and how much funding/concession you offer, so people do not shut down your site after reading your fee structure.

- Management/School Leadership: I have added this into your list.

Please do not bother if you have vague answers.

Dear all,

I have been checking this discussion on TNG. What I have noticed is an overwhelming support of pakistanis towards other pakistanis (haaahhhhh) I am not suggesting to support your people just because they belong to the same country as yours but just give them some time, a chance to prove what they are saying. I agree with asma10 that it should be named as an international school as it would be better from business point of view. I disagree with graywolf about disclosing faculty's background, qualification etc etc. I am just wondering when we take our child to a doctor, do we check his qualification, degrees, background blah blah before using his prescribed medicine. My question is when we trust them as professional and experts of their fields why don't we trust teachers as professional and experts?

YES, i am a teacher

NO, i m not a part of TNG

loveqatar1967, Unfortunately you see what you want to see and want to convince others on what you are already convinced. You are very confused with the money vis-a-vis value for money. You will need to re-read my post for a couple of times and then if you like, respond. I am talking A and you are talking Z. Please talk precisely.

I wrote above note for other readers mainly. Your post has not earned a response.

Dear All,

Let us separate the issues and tackle them one by one; we may divide this issue four heading:

- Quality Education

- School Facilities

- Staff

- Fee Structure

Let me give you little history; why TNG came in existence, it was four years ago by a movement to bring quality in education, several community members were involved working towards the cause. The efforts diminished, there were several reasons.

Another move started to bring good educational institution from Pakistan to Qatar, a lot of ground work was done, a big team was involved, at end it was found that these institution are more toward business rather education.

At end TNG came in existence, with support from community members, just for the sake of Quality Education.

If you look at mission and vision, quality statement, board, etc you can smell some quality, however time is real tester.

School facilities are unmatched, Ergonometric furniture, Interactive boards, PC for everyone, Automated time and attendance etc … come on they speak by themselves, still would not guarantee quality.

Teaching staff is picked and chose, best teachers of Qatar, with educational qualification, skills and experience… off course remunerations are on higher side.

Finally burning topic is Fee Structure.

Please sum these……. Tuition Fee, Computer Fee, Robotics Fee, Soft Skill fee, and kids goes to molvi sahib for Quran……. fee for molvi sahib…. You end up paying more …….

All above gives some comfort that Quality education can be achieved.

Now those who cannot afford, TNG offers two type of Scholarship, one is complete fee for deserving students and one is combination of deserving and intelligence. Sibling discount is more than other schools. Collectively at end fee is not high as it appears to be.

I believe this clears some of your doubts.

I am surprised that people get impressed by PCs and electronic boards. If these were supposed to bring good education, then probably Qatari and independant schools would be best schools in Qatar.

how the new school is? They need our support and well wishes in their tenure. Electronic board and PCs are not the measure of quality education but it is indeed an ingredients to provide the srudents with latest technology.

I wish TNG admin a very good luck and hope they are upto the mark and satisfication of parnets and sudents.

I agree with LoveQatar ....

Let the school start .... and I ma sure all your questions will be answered.

Tell me one Pakistani school or Indian school which has a PC installed on every desk for every student ? Which school teaches everything on a PC?

Which school uses electronic white board system? The ones which will provide these .... will charge 2000+

Not all teachers can teach using electronic board systems .... so you can guess the quality of teachers they will hire !!!!

So yes, TNG is offering good enough ....

Dear friend!I am not a staff of TNG and not the owner but you seem to be like having personal problem with the owners or management. I mentioned in my mail that I went there for my children. My children were studying in BFPS and compare to the standard, I am sorry BFPS is a low standard school. Yes fees is less than TNG but do you bargain on your children's education?

About lies, this is a general trend here in all schools that when you went for admission, Principal showed you a promising future and their long term plans but TNG doesn't do that. Infact they didnt do a huge advertising. From day one they told me about their problems and future difficulties they will have. These teething problems arise everywhere but most schools didnt discuss them.

About qualification, Do you know the professional qualification and teaching experience of staff in other schools you mention? Do they disclose it that easily to parents? if they disclose the private information of their staff to parents, I must say they are breaching the privacy laws. But for your info. Most of the teaching staff in TNG is from local schools like Doha Academy, Al Maha, Iqra and also BFPS.

You can compare this school to local schools which are offering British curriculum. You should know the difference between mainstream American/British school and a local British school. or you want me to explain?

You are right, this is a money making business. But all the schools are same in this regard. When I mean fees is reasonable, I mean the technology and services they are offering you in this fees. TNG offering a state of art technology in less price. You go there and check yourself.

With regard to your comment about me being a millionaire, I am not a millionaire but from an average working class. And my priority is my children's education. I dont invest in luxurious FWDs and i dont own properties in Pakistan like most average working class is doing here. I know a lot of Pakistani families who complain about school's high fee structure but when you look at their daily expenses, you will have a real picture. They invest on shares, cars mobiles and properties but they dont want to invest on children's education. Eduction is not their priority.

I would suggest you go and check yourself what value TNG offers in return. You will be impressed if you are not biased about TNG from the beginning.

adeel_9298, It is good that you are impressed with 60+ personal computers and electronic board, I am sure many parents are not.

You have visited the school and you feel much better about it. I request you to please answer questions I asked in my post. I know some of the TNG management members are here on QL, why don't they answer to my questions for the benefit of everyone.

Of course 'reasonable' word vary from person to person. For large Pakistani majority 1200~1400 is not reasonable for primary classes standalone or when compared with other Pakistani or even Indian Schools.

I will find higher fee justified when you offer the value for money, which is again one of my questions raised in above post.

I am impressed with this school and its management. You should go and visit the school and all your questions will be answered. They will provide PC access to all students, they already have 60+ Pcs installed. They will use electronic board system instead of ordinary white boards, which is state of the art technology and is proven to be much better.

They will follow British curriculum, they have hired very good and professional experienced teachers. The only problem they are currently facing is a final approval from Supreme Education Council, which every school has to take after completing certain formalities, which they expect to get this week.

Fee structure is very reasonable ... you can check it out on http://www.tngqatar.com

Go to the school and find out yourself. The location is on E-Ring Road, but you cannot access it directly from E-Ring Road. For those who have GPS or who want to locate it on Google Earth or wikimapia:

I am very disappointed with the school.

loveqatar1967, It seems you are working for TNG or you are one of the owners. If you are none of those, then your comments are very naive.

You said they did not speak lies. What truth they told you about their school that other schools don't. I have visited all English speaking schools and Pakistani schools recently. I have not found them lying or hiding anything. What exactly you are talking about?

How qualified these ladies are? What is their educational qualification, professional qualification, where they gained their teaching experience and at what level?

Whats wrong in hiring native English speaking teachers. It is good from marketing point of view as well as good for students who need better language training.

You beg not to compare them with main stream American/British Schools. OK, then you compared TNG fee with other British schools. wow! who should we compare this school to?

You said "This school will cater the children of an average working class here. Their fees is also reasonable". 1200 or 1400 for basic level classes is what you call reasonable for average working class expatriate family? Do you really know what reasonable means? How many Pakistani families can afford to pay this fee. Maybe you are a millionaire, not everyone else is. This fee structure is ridiculous. It is only money making business.

The fee is 5 times higher than PEC and Pak Shama and 3 times higher than BFPS. What is the value TNG offers in return?

I went to see 'The next generation" for my children. I met their CEO and Principal. They sound very practical and realistic. They didnt keep any lies from me regarding their school's status, like other schools do. They will start this school once given the go ahead by Supreme Education Council on 27th September. These ladies were qualified, professional and experienced teachers. They also told me that they have teachers from all the nationalities. They dont believe in hiring only English or White people, just to show off to parents that they have native English speaking staff, which actually is done by some local schools, just to impress parents. But please do not compare this school to main stream American/British schools. This is going to be a Pakistani International School with British Curriculum, which will cater the children of an average working class here. Their fees is also reasonable compare to 60,000 plus by other British schools.

Hello

I have been reading the threads and several discussions about your school. To be honest it looks really impressive and its probably one of a kind project.

Islamic knowledge in addition to an international syllabus is what All Muslim expatriate look for in a school. The fees looks a little bit high for a middle class family, which makes sense as they perhaps may not be your target market.

However, i am really wondering why are you calling a TNG "Pakistani School". I undertand the owners are Pakistanis but since you are offering international syllabus you should be calling it TNG "International School". Well you must be wondering why am i suggesting this. I have the following reasons:

- Being in the marketing field and having sold almost anything to everyone i would presume you would want to have people of various nationalities + various background to OPT for TNG. Hence if you call it a pakistani school a lot of parents looking for an international syllabus with a pakistani tag on it would be hesitant. Again without any offense to the board member if you mar check in the international market there are a lot of schools who do not put the country TAG if there are offering an international syllabus for ex:

- Cambridge

-Doha Academy

-Summit Academy

-Al Arkam Academy

-Al Jazeera Academy

- Iqra English School

-and there are many more.

If you have been in business....i am sure you will understand what i mean.......

Good luck.... and all the best... hope you really succeed on your mission.

It would be appropriate to compare TNG with Schools like Park House, Al Jazeera, Qatar foundation, etc… . With its Pakistani name people tends to measure up to with the experience they have, rather we may furnish the comparison with the standard, Idea and strategy TNG is coming up with.

Do other school gives:

Quran Hifz & Nazra

Soft Skills

ICT & Robotics

Arts and craft

and that too without additional fee.

Portal concept is again time saving and all three Students, Teacher and Parents are involved and informed.

Moreover we have to create culture from now to use Automation such as Attendance, to give our nation the required technology from day one.

Another important aspect of Interactive board and Automated Attendance is to save time in calss, where 5 minutes normally exhausted on roll call and remarkable time for teacher to wipe the board and write.

Doing so we will save time, and spend it on teaching …….

Please Please Please look at the features, facilities, standard, atmosphere, culture and we are sure if you keep fee on the scale you will certainly find it low.

Urdu & English is basic part of education.

We need your support to create a most modern Pakistani Educational Insinuation.

Moreover, let's not forget state-of-the-art facilities they've promised, like interactive boards instead of regular ones in other schools, PC access for all students etc. etc. All these next generation techie devices gives your kids a jump start in lives!

From what I have heard, The Next Generation Pakistan school would be state-of-the-art school with fully automated and computerized systems to facilitate education in Qatar mainly for benefit of Pakistani community.

I got this info from a very reliable source who is connected with the integration of the school and heavily involved in designing the structure and brochures for the school.

Apparently, they are also gonna offer scholarships purely based on merit of the students. Wish there was a similar school for Indians as well in Doha.
