Noise pollution!!
We are living in a block of flat and a couple of days ago they've knocked down the houses next door. It was quite noisy when they did it but they kept it during day time (well...starting at 5am!). Last night they started clearing the mess with a massive machine which is needless to say extremely noisy. So it was a long sleepless night...
I am not sure what is the law here (or if there are any....) regarding the level of noise during the night, but coming from Europe this is just hard to believe that they can get away with it.
I have no idea who to contact in order to hopefully have this stop...help!!
try to find a new place. quite and not much construction in the area.
Thanks all for your comments...it was a bit of a long shot! worth a try though...grin and bear it then
It will only get worse coming into summer, as most construction companies will only pour a slab during the night due to the fact that pouring during the day is to damned hot and plays havoc with the concrete. You might want to consider those earplugs.
sorry to hear that, but i don't think there is any law, there is of cource a violation for noice (QR500) i think, but it will not apply.
try the speak to the man in charge,,,
Try to talk to someone in charge of the site. You might be surprised at how accommodating the are!
In my naiivety I asked a policeman what the laws were reagrding noise pollution and after the blank stare I got a "what's that?" response lol
With the booming economy, the construction industry is on overdrive at the moment, and the inevitable noise that results from just bad urban planning and zoning, i'm affraid nothing can be done about it. Buy some ear plugs and hope they are finished soon.
Stay safe.
Perfection does not exist. The question therefore, is: what level of imperfection are we willing to settle for?
I am well aware of that, there has been constructions around us for a while now. But starting to work at nightime is just plain rude. It's quite hard to go to work after a sleepless night...
I don't think there's anything you can do, other than appeal to the foreman on the site in person.
There are no laws to say this sort of work can't be done at night, and companies often work during the night as it's cooler, and because they can run two shifts that way.
The area of West Bay around City Center (the skyscrapers) has lots of construction going on at night and it gets very noisy!
Its not a new thing in Doha ..with all these constructions going on everywhere. I don’t think much can be done on this but to bear the noise pollution.
