NOKIA N97 - Memory

Good morning QLers,

Have had the Nokia N97 phone for the last 3 days and everytime I try to do anything with the phone it comes up "Memory low - delete some data" ... fine but what am I supposed to delete when I still dont have anything on it !!!!
The guy at the Nokia place told me that I needed to select E-Mass memory but it still keeps doing the same thing - i.e it goes back to the phone memory which is tiny...

Any ideas ... anyone have the same problem or anyone have this phone that knows what might be the issue...

Though i still dont have the chance to use the N97 but learned few things with these kind of hardware which are mostly user problems.

a) Always keep the network spex as per the factory. (cell info - Off, Network selection Auto)

b) Always keep the B/tooth off unless required.

c) Always keep the wifi off unless required.

d) Always keep the GPS setting non auto search.

e) Always use the original memory stick.

f) Always be carefull not to discipate the static charge on your memory stick (donot touch the contact points)

g) Always keep the bios/Operating system refreshed.

h) Always try to store the add on programs/pic/music on the add on memory.

i) Never install third party softwares.

j) Never leave your handset in the high temperature (40+)

k) Try to avoid the hardware to be exposed to humidity as well.

Keep a watch on the Nokia web page for any recall notice :-)

These hardware are everything BUT not just the phone so the management has to be accordingly.

Good Luck!!!

Yes Jazzy it does all sort of weird things....first I thought maybe it was too complicated - my kids were laughing and saying that I should not have bought something that OLD people dont know how to use .... old?? me? no way....

The phone has problem only when you are in your car or home. So just change the car and home and the phone will work fine.

did you buy it from an authorized distributor? have you considered taking it to a Nokia Care shop to determine what is really wrong with it? i think there is a Nokia care shop here..

Vodafone have Iphone 3Gs go buy that use it and enjoy it and am sure you will love it. Nokia is nothing easy to use just for suckers.

On other part clear all the media files like pic, music, clips and sort of mms saved in inbox or bluetooth files transfer them to MMC, this way you will make more space on your phone memory and you will never see Memory low.

Yeah I kinda thought that but the guy in the shop was adamant that it works fine.....he changes the memory and while I am there in the shop it works fine... as soon as i get in the car or home it starts doing weird things again....

maybe it's the unit that is defective.. if it has a warranty maybe you could have it replaced..
