Not on Facebook? You may be a psychopath...

Apparently, if you have better things to do in your life than posting new statuses, or uploading pictures on social networking sites like Facebook, then you can be considered a 'psychopath'.

Facebook has become such an important aspect in people's lives, that increasing number of employers, and even some psychologists, believe people who aren't on social networking sites, could be insane.

German magazine Der Taggspiegel went so far as to point out that accused 'Dark Knight' shooter James Holmes and Norwegian mass killer Anders Behring Breivik have common ground in their lack of Facebook profiles.

Also, Forbes.com reports that human resources departments across the country are becoming more wary of young job candidates who don't use the site.

Bosses believe that a lack of Facebook could mean the applicant's account could be so full of red flags that it had to be deleted, the Daily Mail reports.

Not only this, another website Slate.com's tech reporter Farhad Manjoo wrote in an advice column that young people shouldn't date anyone who isn't on Facebook.

"If you're of a certain age and you meet someone who you are about to go to bed with, and that person doesn't have a Facebook page, you may be getting a false name. It could be some kind of red flag," Manjoo wrote.

According to the paper, some psychologists believe that using Facebook in today's modern society has become a sign of having a healthy social network.

Illogical analysis..who would care for facebook if someone had a busy and satisfying job, few good friends around and a compatible soulmate?

By Bachus• 8 Aug 2012 17:42

I think I would be more attracted to someone WITHOUT a Facebook page.

Facebook is addictive and promotes narcissism.

People who has nothing to do in their life, but only posting new statuses and uploading photos in FB and chatting for long hours with people they never met on real are the ones who might be considered as psychopaths!!

For example, I know one guy who spend 24 hours on chatting, BB, and FB. Even when he is driving, at work, or in school! I personally consider him a psychopath!

Theer is also the theory that Facebook is the brainchild of security agencies with a goldmine of information of those using it :O)

I really wish whoever wrote this had a little knowledge of statistics. Although there is a greater chance that a person has something to hide when he or she is not willing to share with you their Facebook account. However, not having a Facebook account does not by default means a psychopath. In fact, Facebook is literally swarming with all kinds of psychopaths. According to one study, there 83 million fake Facebook accounts.

Facebook has been allegedly used by pedophiles, rapists and even dacoits.

It is totally rubbish to associate Facebook use with any psychopathology. Facebook is simply a web tool which can be used for good and bad purposes. Some may choose it for one reason or the other. Someone may not choose not using it, again for one reason or the other.

Just because two shooters did not have a Facebook account (who knows how many fake accounts they had), we should term all those who are not using Facebook psychopaths? You must be imbecile.

for a multitude of reasons I chose to opt outta it and AlHamdulillah I've absolutely no regrets. Neither do I possess any murderous intents or vengeful longings.. Am I then truly a part of a minority?
