Houston, Texas--sitting around with friends drinking some Modelo beers and eating some great Tex-Mex nachos with real guacamole; fish tacos or carne guisada.
I miss home... Salt Lake City. I miss Amsterdam (home for 3 years) because of the vibe and the mix in cultures and the whole Euro-environment. I miss Cape Town like crazy (home for 4 years) because of the magnificent beauty, the people (don't miss the crime!!!!) and the great ZA wine!
But, I like Doha.... its comfortable. Its easy. We know where everything is... its small town but not too small. Its got its ups and downs but living here is pretty easy. I can find what I need (normally), enjoy the people I meet and love the different cultures.
Somewhere in Europe. I like MrsJacko's idea, but my dream afternoon would be sat in a pub with two or three of the UK Sunday papers stacked in front of me, slowly getting pissed.
Or in southern Europe. Sat outside a small restaurant, picking at olives or bread, pretending to read a classic novel, slowly getting pissed.
Or maybe sat in a smoky eastern European cafe, playing chess, slowly getting pissed.
Notice the pattern? I miss getting pissed in the afternoons in a relaxed atmosphere. It's all a bit hard-core here.
