Not white enough....!!!

WASHINGTON: Democrats have accused South Carolina's Indian-American governor Nikki Haley of listing her race as "white" in her voter registration form in 2001 and playing on it for political convenience. Haley created history this year as she was sworn in as first women governor of South Carolina. She is also the first governor of Sikh heritage. The local Post and Courier reported that the state Democratic Party, which first obtained the public record in this regard, is challenging whether her inconsistency on the card might have made her ineligible to voter under the state's new Voter ID law.
With admitting where you are from, your religion and colour? It does not matter where you are from, colour or religion - if you are RIGHT for the job it should not matter.
Bachus, in the Us it would be termed as "caucasian".
GoJ, she's an American, right? how's that related to Qatarliving.com?
There is no legal definition of white in the US.
i thought indians are indo european so they are white,no?
Bit of a storm in a Tea Cup.. Looks to me that she was looking to portray herself as "one of the majority" and made a mistake..
I hope one day all people on this earth will start counting each other like human being..I wonder if they call Dinosaurs too...American Dinosaurs,Chinese Dinosaurs,Australian Dinosaurs... :)
there is no such thing as 'white enough'. Either one is or one isn't.
oops my fault here, I just saw her and by appearance sake she could totally pass for white....
It would be interesting to see what races were in fact given as options on the registration card. Not all races are listed in all states, and I know they weren't in 2001. I was in college then and there was a big push towards adding more races- at the time there was only a few, and Middle Eastern/Arab/East Indian were not on the race cards in the state I was in. It was different at the federal level because when my husband filed his immigration forms, it was an option, but on his state forms he sometimes put white, sometimes put other. If it was for political gain then I don't understand that because when I vote I put a name to the face, I dont just vote because it says "so-and-so... race." cause it didn't say anything about race of the candidates the last time I voted.
If this is true - she lied. She will make a cracking politician :-)
