I have been offered a chance of another job in Oman.

I will do my research but does anyone have any experience and or knowlege of Oman they can share with me?

I am still awaiting my date to take my job in Qatar, I should find out over the next few weeks.

Where would you go given the choice?

I think the company I am coming out with are in Oman also.

I will have to come to Qatar first and look for a transfer in a year or two.

Thanks again.

I presently live in Oman but we are leaving in 3 weeks to move to the Uk then on to Doha in June. I really wish we could stay here as we love it. Our 4 children love it here, we have made loads of new friends and the Omanis are fantastic people so friendly and sincere. If you want your family to feel safe and to have new adventures this is the place to be. But yes the salaries maybe not as good, though if you are given a good expat package then you will find life here very very comfortable.

Any questions - just ask.

Oman is a nice place. As laid back as Qatar might seem to be Oman is more laid back.

Scenery is stunning in some places.

Business-wise Qatar is better. And as already pointed out more expensive.

I am only going to give my family a better life.

And gather a bit of cash.

Maybe I will come to Qatar to start us off as we have never made such a move and look at jobs in Oman in a couple of years or so.

Better still I could look to establish our company in Oman.

It does look and sound nicer though.

Keep the oppinions coming though please, they are all appreciated.

Me and my family have lived in Oman for 6 years. It's a nice country and quiet environment. lots of Wadi and beautiful mountains and near to the sea. Salary is not as good as here in Qatar. but the medical is the best part of the deal as they have highly qualified doctors.

Just keep dancing, it will do you good!

The environment is more laid back; people have more respect for each-other. There is so much more to do than in Doha. Not to mention the beautiful scenery, mountains, gorgeous beaches, friendly locals, lovely souqs…the list goes on...

I lived in Oman for 5 years (2000 to 2005) and moved to Doha in 2005.

Oman is a very nice place to live. I do appreciate the cleanliness and orderliness of the country. Omanis/locals are nice in general. Salary may not as competitive as Qatar. However, cost of living is low compared to Qatar.

Frankly speaking, I changed my lifestyle here in Qatar due to very high cost of living. I can not dine anymore in decent restaurants, which I normally enjoyed in Oman.

But one very important factor you have to consider is "Omanisation". Think very carefully. Hope your job/position is not viable for Omanis, what I mean is that can not be performed by them.
