Opening of Games

OK, we had tickets for the dress rehearsal tonight (Weds). Got to the back of the stadium at 5:45, walked about 500 meters to the gate. Couldn't use that gate, had to go to the main gate, because of fences we couldn't walk, had to go back to car, drive back out into traffic which is bad and getting worst. Drive around to Carrfour side of the Stadium, no parking available, all roads were blocked except road in front of Carrfour/Hyatt Plaza. There is only one entrance gate for 50,000 people so they were backed up. We finally gave up, came home, lost use of the tickets, etc.

There is NO planning for the crowd, if they couldn't handle it tonight, Dec 1st will be a zoo.  If you haven't wasted your money yet, watch it on TV. I have been to large sporting events with 100,000+ in the stadium and it is easier than this. Only one road in or out, only one gate in or out, most of the people on parking and gates don't understand English so finding out what you should do is impossible. We were nice, tried to ask for help or instructions, not a clue. No signs telling you where to park, where to go, etc.

It is a mess, glad I am leaving town for the games cause my blood pressure would be through the roof if the next 16 days are like this one.

You all have fun, I'll be back.

I was at the rehearsal last night and I was very impressed. Parking will be a problem though as the show is sold out with 50,000 people and last night there was probably only 10,000 people. If you don't see it live, watch it on tv, it will get you in the spirit of the games.

i would say aim to park at about 4:30. once you find a park its a nice stroll among the atmosphere to the stadium. they actually have pre-show entertainment from 4pm i think.

oh its so beautiful. i wish i could go again.

What time would you recommend that people arrive so that it is eassy parking?

We parked easily at Villagio too, you have to walk for about 10 minutes to the gate, the only trouble was having to go back to our car to put our mobiles away. The show was INCREDIBLE. I really really recommend going, obvoiusly go early and leave ample time for walking from your car to the gate, but the opening ceremony used the whole stadium it was like enormous 3D theatre. I dont think the broadcast on telly will be able to do it justice, so go if you can afford it.

We easily parked near Villagio and easily went inside. You've missed a good show.

Does anyone know where to find the opening ceremonies on the television?
